I started with meditation a few years ago. Only 2 minutes. Now I do 20 daily, first thing in the morning. Give it a shot.

As suggested in the video, you can’t leave your mind alone. All we can do is watch. As OP suggested, meditation is good at watching your thoughts. You may feel you have control over your thoughts but that is just an another thought. Another thought after thought. Learn to watch the stream of thinking without interfering eventually, you’ll find you’re less distracted by thinking and simply living in the present.
