Alan Rickman: Toronto Radio Interview 1992

Ойын-сауық

Actor Alan Rickman takes some time out of his busy schedule, while in Toronto in 1992 for an in depth radio interview. This interview is approx 28 mins in length, so I've taken some excerpts & put them together (with enough material left over to make a Part 2 some time!).
Here, he discusses his role in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, his work in the Theater that followed on the heels of that in Tango at the End of Winter, as well as Truly Madly Deeply. Also, he talks about what it's like to see himself on screen, his thoughts about his famous voice, and his art. Included here are various still pictures from that era, as well as clips from the following: January Man, Les Liasons Dangereuses, Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, Die Hard, Tango at the End of Winter, From Sleep and Shadow, Quigley Down Under, Truly Madly Deeply, Close My Eyes, Fallen Angel, and TCM Painting with Light. Except for the clips from TCM Painting with Light - I tried to go back in time using clips from the era in which this interview took place. So, that being said, Snape fans might be interested to see what Alan Rickman was all about long before the Harry Potter franchise began. :_)
I hope fans of Alan Rickman enjoy this interesting interview. To add some punch to it I added in some background music...
MUSIC: Lily Was Here - Candy Dulfer and Dave Stewart
So What - Miles Davis.

What a great interview! I wish they could all be like this! Alan seemed so relaxed! She didn't seem to be putting him on the spot even though she was asking such probing questions! I love it when he talks about his craft and how he feels about it. What a fascinating person he is! First time I've ever seen it. Loved it! Thank you! Another favorite!

Ty so much Fabiana!! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Yes, it is interesting to hear what he thought of himself. I'm hoping he's okay with seeing himself on screen now. I guess it's like everyone - all of us are our own worst critic. Nice to know the man is human. ;_)

Could you upload the interview without the music? I don't hear him well, and some of the answers I really want to hear! Or just tell me where I can find it.

TY so much Robin. I'm so glad you ladies are enjoying it!! This thing was done in 6 parts. Plus that clip at 24 secs in - caused me grief for days.:_O The entire interview is awesome! There will be additions to this in the future! ;_)

Wow! What a great interview! I've been slow in finding this but glad I did - it's just fab!! I'm a big, big AR fan, although I happen to think that around the late 80s/early 90s he was at his height of sexiness, so I've been delighted to find an interview of him at that time! I happen to agree that not everything he does is perfect ( that's probably why I relate to him so much - 'cos of his honesty and realism!) Would love to hear this in it's entirity! Thanks so much for posting! :-)

At 8:41, when Alan says "Mmmh, I think so", if you listen very carefully it almost sounds like the interviewer whispers "God". Not that I can blame her, when he said that I quite nearly melted in my seat. That man's voice! I've listened to "The Magic Of My Youth" a good ten times and I still couldn't tell you what it's about. And that's not even his voice at it's best.

Ty so much, I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Sorry to be so late replying, been having computer issues...blah blah blah, took a hiatus from YT, and from video making. I agree with everything you said. My fave roles with AR are most of his early stuff - from Die Hard, Robin Hood POT, and even Quigley Down Under. Loved Quigley - the only complaint I have about that movie is the cheesy soundtrack. Other than that - everyone is awesome in it!

I know the feeling. Now, I, on the other hand, can't raise but one eyebrow (it's that or both), so... Thank you so much for posting this, by the way! I really enjoyed it! Although, I think I bugged Mom from having the volume to high. Oops. ;-)

Yeah, who can blame her! I liked it when she said "I'm wearing a bride's suit." LOL!! I haven't listened to the Magic of My Youth lately, I outta give that listen b/c I can't recall it. Probably haven't listened to that in a yr. Always nice to meet another Alan fan!

@sevvy253 Hi, yes, I remember now. Yes, I do plan to do that one of these days. I still have the file somewhere here in my hard drive, just had a bit of a weird year. A very crazy spinning damn near out of control year, so that's why I haven't made any new videos since fall of 2009. Maybe by this fall I'll have it up. Or sometime in summer - you've just given me incentive to stop being so damn serious and do something fun again. TY! :-]

It is explained in that there box to the right. ---> I thought it was boring without it. When I played the audio along with the music, it sounded much better to me. I picked jazz because it's soothing, yet punchy at the same time. Ty for watching!

OMG weas that you who commented when I had this up with the account previous to this? I remember that now yes!! But I don't remember a Dobby Junior commenting on it - isn't that odd? New account for you too girl?! Well, the good thing is I lost that old video, so this was all done from scratch today, so I hope some of it was fresh! TY for watching it, again! :_)

@sevvy253 Hi RhiannanAR1, I contacted you over a year ago now (when I first found this clip) re finding/posting the rest of this interview. It looks like you still haven't posted a 'part 2' ... Any chance you ever will? I'd really still love to hear the whole thing in it's entirity (as would a friend & fellow-AR-fan.) I've looked elsewhere but have never been able to find it. Please get back to me again if you can -- thanks! :-)

Hey Lu - this interviewer sounds so familiar to me. Can you figure out who this is? Is this that woman from Calgary who used to have a talk show? I can't remember her name. She's funny though!

**I apologize for the clip at 24 secs in. You may notice that the Scribe is timed well, but then its all off? No matter what I did I couldn't get the entire scene to synch correctly. I thought of cutting the sound from the interview, but I didn't think that would work either. The volume was much louder on the interview than the actual clip from Robin Hood. Anyway, sorry that a small portion of that resembles a bad 60's Kung Fu movie. :_/ **

@RhiannanAR1 Yeah, I know just what you mean by that last line of life "being so damn serious"! My whole AR/Snape obsession started after a need to get away from RL & on-going bad health ... There's got to be something more out there & AR's a great distraction! I would really love it if you can get round to putting up the rest of this - please just let me know (private e-mail is fine) if you do ever get round to it. Good luck & all the best! :-)

As much as I've tried, I really don't think she's converting. She likes him OK, but she has something against him, I think it's because I like him, which she finds insane. But hey, I'm not one to give up easily...

I put a lot of thought and effort into this video. The music is NOT porno but are two pieces done by Candy Dulfer and Miles Davis - 2 respectful jazz musicians. The audio was poor without adding in some background music and I still stand by my decision. If you don't like it, move on and make your own damn video. As I pointed out before, read the video description which explains it. I am Not changing the presentation of this video. Not now or ever. Wow! Smdh! 😁😡🔨🔨🔨
