@@pSynrg303 the reason he was so mad at Salazar wasn't exactly because of the result. Brabham said later the BMW wasn't going to make it to the end. The reason Piquet was so angry with Salazar was that he'd helped Salazar back in the day when Salazar literally first arrived in GB with only a suitcase and didn't even know where to stay. Piquet just felt he deserved more respect after being a benefactor who helped Salazar get on his feet.

Piquet reacted this way only because BMW upgraded their engine with Wintershall "rocket" fuel that might or might not be legal (ask Renault) for this race, and he knew that he would have an upper hand for the remaining races. NELSON PIQUET ISN'T A MR. NICE GUY.
After that race, Piquet gave an interview to a brazilian reporter who questioned him about the rumors that he would join Ferrari in 1984. He replied: - It would be nice to be three-time Formula 1 champion for Ferrari in 1984! The reporter asked: - But you were champion only once!? - Yes, but I will be two-time champion this year! That would sound crazy to anyone in Formula 1 because, after that race, there were only three races left in the championship and Nelson Piquet was only fourth in the standings. Years later, already retired from Formula 1, he was asked why he didn't join Ferrari when the opportunity arose, to which he replied: - At Ferrari it doesn't matter the driver but the car. There I would just be a guy driving a Ferrari. At Brabham, I was Nelson Piquet. Legendary.

Piquet was calm firstly because he knew without looking at the footage that Prost was a gentleman and that he won't do any calculated stupidity, and secondly, because he was not going to finish the race as his engine was at the end. Yes that was the last race that season that the Renaults were dominant. I felt a spell had been broken after the Piquet Prost accident. If Prost had driven to finish and he could well have been first since he still had the speed to beat the Brabham's he might well have been champion that year.
Alain prost: getting trouble with brazilians since 1980...
Piquet: Where is Prost? Marshall: Nelson, Prost has retired. Piquet: Karma!
Eddie Cheever having a Lance Stroll moment there! Anyway, Prost learned a lot from his time at Renault, his mistakes in those years, which caused him to miss out on the world title at least twice, made him rethink his driving style. And thus the Professor was born, becoming 4 times WDC.
I was expecting piquet to be angrier than that

A lot of it's just the risk factor- There's not really much reason for Prost to take off another driver if he risks injuring one or both of them, so the idea of deliberately crashing someone out for the title is, while not entirely alien (*cough*AlanJones*cough*), almost non-existant- especially given that the reliability back then could easily have seen Piquet DNF anyway. That, and it's Prost. He had enough reputation as a fair, safe racer that if he did crash it was simply one of those things, everyone's due a mistake every now and then, as opposed to an idiot who can't control his car, unlike (for example) Scheckter and Patrese early in their careers.
