You don't have to be southern to appreciate this masterpiece or country in general!!! I am from northwest Indiana and was brought up on Merle, Conway, Waylon, George Jones, Charlie Daniels and Don Williams from my grandparents and parents and love it!!!! Jamey did a great job here!!!

My dad grew up in the tiniest town in Belmont, Louisiana (Luziana, lol), and I went to Many, which was a small town in its own rite (its grown quite a bit...sad) every summer when I was a kid, so I was practically raised there. The main event in town was the basketball game, and my very first steady boyfriend was on the team. Unfortunately, I had to go back to school. My friends and cousins tried to talk my dad into letting me go to school in Many - it would have been so cool. Southern men are gentlemen who still open the car door for you, and of course, you are expected as a woman, to treat a southern man with respect. A good Southern man will defend you with his life, and they deserve all the respect a strong woman has to give them. I still miss my first boyfriend, and that was years ago when I was 14 and he was 18, (I'm 66 now), but he came from a good family, so my dad didnt have too much of a problem with it, especially since he was a supurb basketball player! I miss those days, and I want to write a song about sitting on the porch swing shelling butter beans (all the folks would stop by and talk, let down the hatch of the truck and play Creedence Clearwater and other songs. We had a blast, and the big deal was going around the main drag of town every Friday and Sat. night (if you didn't have a date). Who knew you could have so much fun just 'drivin'! Here is a url for a really great bluegrass band (very original). I think you might really like them,

I moved back after a year. I garew up in Illinois, but myu dad was a southern man, so we went to Louisiana almost every year. He went to see his mother and brother. We had a blast. I believe we were influenced in music by ya'll. Bluegrass, it sounds, had its roots in Ireland. Our instruments are the same, and ya didn't play the 'violin' ; ya played the 'fiddle'!! In America, we were and are a melting pot (I wish we didn't have so many illegal aliens crashing our border); ya'll are more purists in your music bc you had Irish and no other influences. Sadly today you are also getting illegals crashing your border. It would be one thing if they shared our patriotism, but they have no idea of the love we have for our countries and how much our culture and history means to us; they could care less. They just want free stuff and a chance to bring the rest of their families over here so they could invade us with sheer numbers and, of coiurse, vote, vote vote. The Left are giving them drivers licenses (without passing a driving test, I'm sure) so they can register to vote. They know they can't continue to cheat the way they did the last two times, so illegals are their last way of cheating. Give them tsng about music, I don't know if you've heard these guys, but they're phenomenal. Here is the url: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZaB7zLVsqarVgrg.html Tell me what you think after you've listened. Epecially 11:36 SONG Excellent blend of bluegrass and Grateful Dead, Byrds, etc. but still true to the music. ENJOY!! Really interested in what you think. Please, oh, please tell me what you thought of them. Such amazing gifts of music and still purity of bluegrass music, and they're so young!!

Sheesh. I got teary eyed hearing this. My mom played Alabama non stop when I was growing up. Listening to it on my own road trips now at 37 puts me right back in the 1987 Volvo hatchback again blasting She and I with my mom and sister. That doesn't happen with anything else. Alabama is my childhood and always brings back those good memories that your spend the rest of your life trying to recreate. I'm determined to get my mom to one of their shows again. She STILL has a terry cloth wristband (those old sweat bands) that she caught from one of the guys (I can't remember who she said now) at a show in the 80s. It's on display in a curio cabinet! I want them to sign it so bad.

Born and raised in Tennessee. In the middle of a UT Vols family. Never cared about football, but loved the songs, "Sweet Home Alabama" and My Home's in Alabama". Met some guy on the internet, who wasn't my type. But he was 400 miles away, in Mobile. I figured it wouldn't hurt to talk to him, since he didn't mind that I said we wouldn't work out. Six months later, we met. After we met a couple more times, I moved my Tennessee ass to Mobile! A year later, we got married. Now, 15 years later, we just bought a place in the mountains of northeast Alabama, and are going to try our hand at gardening, an orchard, and chickens. My home is definitely in Alabama, and I can't wait to move to Sand Mountain! (We were shooting for Lookout Mountain, but couldn't find exactly what we were looking for there) Oh, and by the way, I am now a rabid Alabama football fan. But to all you Barners, I love you too, for everything you did to help Tuscaloosa after that horrible tornado. Rivalries only happen because we have teams to root for. Human beings love each other, regardless. This is the best state to live in, for me!

The latest was in Tampa visiting my daughter, my parents came down and my daughter had us tickets in Tampa to see Alabama, with Charlie Daniels..... Sweet... I been following them since The Bowery. I was only 12 at the time, but always go there when I meet or bring folks down to Myrtle Beach. Mr. Vaugh, Tell your cousin we love him and hope he's doing well. Thank you

I LOVE THESE GUYS!!! I have worked in radio for 40+ years. Our station worked with Alabama many times on station giveaways to their concerts which also included the June Jam in Ft Payne. This IS something I’ll never forget!!!! We would go early to the Jam and have brunch with Alabama and sit with them and just talk about everything! I remember it well and hold it close to my heart. In all of our stations promotions, ALABAMA WAS “THE BEST”! The guys “never” got the big-head and were as down home as we were. We met them in Huntsville Alabama around 1982 as they opened for Ronnie Milsap. This was before the “Feel So Right” album came out. Well after that release, we all know what happened! Thank you Alabama for all the great music and how you treated us throughout your career! YOU ARE THE BEST EVER!
