AKOYA - Amphibious Light Sport Aircraft - Introduction

The AKOYA is a two-seater amphibious aircraft with a unique design and a wealth of features. From land, water or snow, the AKOYA takes its passengers 1250 miles away (2000km) thanks to its impressive fuel efficiency of 42MPG (5,6L/100km) and can reach the speed of 135 knots (250km/h). After a pleasant and quick flight, the AKOYA lands on a less than 650-feet field (200m) and fold its wings to be parked in a garage. To reach these performances with no compromises, LISA Airplanes has designed an exclusive innovation in the aviation field which allows landing on multiple surfaces. The Multi-Access technology is a unique combination of two Seafoils, a retractable landing gear equipped with skis and folding wings.
The AKOYA is designed to fulfill the LSA (Light Sport Aircraft) regulation -- the new American standard that is to become an international standard such as in Europe with the CS-LSA implementation.

    The first flight of Akoya made in August 2007, and after two years of testing the prototype was completed. In the autumn of 2011, the project became known to the whole world, and last year after the first flight with a passenger on board, the company began to take deposits. The amphibious aircraft was offered for € 300,000 ($ 400,000) in a package with 3-year after-sales service. But, the company has not moved to the stage of commercial production. Certification of the model, scheduled for the middle of this year, 2019, was also suspended. In the future, the manufacturer intends to create a hybrid version with solar panels mounted on the upper edge of the wings. Lisa emerged Chap 11 Summer 2018.

    Awesome plane! But it seems that it's easy to damage the fins if you use sideslip technique for cross-wind landings.

    The seafoils were designed to land in 15kts cross-wind conditions. Just like landing on paved runway, after a sideslip approach, you just re-center the aircraft for touchdown. The foils' symmetry and the general forces on the first touch with water automatically put the aircraft in level configuration.     About US$358,000 I am out. Cool design, wish them success and luck... I would rather a C185 or C206 on Anphib floats. Far more useful and 1/3rd the price.

    Yeah, but then you can't store it in your garage instead of paying for a hangar or a bay. And you gonna pay a lot more for fuel too.

    @@pedrootaviomaiagarcia9701 2 things: 1) ICON Aircraft is done 2) $395,000 usd can buy a lot of hanger and fuel. 2a) Hanger - how many folding wing planes do you see on the road? It's a PIA to fold and unfold. You still need a trailer and large garage to store it w/ folded wings. 2b). FUEL - Car gas at the local station can (does) have alcohol and/or ethanol not suitable for aircraft use. Even if you can buy good high octane car gas w/o additives, hauling cans of gas from station to airport and filling airplane by cans is a PIA. *True Mogas (auto fuel sold at airports which is safe for planes) is not widely available and expensive (close to price of Av 100LL). No real saving. 100LL is far better safer, less likely to vapor lock or distroy O-rings and seals. If your engine quits due to vapor lock, the few bucks savings was not worth it.

    Ok, I never saw how far a wingtip dug into the water when not at speed. This could be a real issue if you climb in from the water. It looks beautiful but for the price I can get a Bonanza AND a Lake amphibian.

    I love its looks but it looks kind of flimsy and the icon has more range and is more spacious has an angle of attack gauuge is faa certified stall spin resistant and it looks better
