Easy Virtue theme))) Got ya! Is it a way to escape a dull Russian reality by identifying yourself wth characters of that film? Yes, Colin Firth is adorable - and their last dance and escape either ))) Well, our generation of mid 40-th in Russia also could feel ourselves the Lost Generation wth all the consequiences

Елена Логунова LOL, Colin Firth forever! His face on my TV screen, PC monitor and his voice in my car. As for our dull life here in Russia... English posh country life can offer much more dull existence, don't you agree, that Jim and Larita run away exactly for that reason? And, having such a lot to do here, if your Generation is Lost, it deserves its pitiful fate. Talking solely of myself, I just like Great Music, Literature, Actors and Films. No matter nationality and all shit of that kind.

Oh, yes! 20 years! I haven't heard ab.him at tht time -in 1990th it was a very difficult sitiation in Russia. Actually I paid attention at him in King's Speech. Watched it fr 6 times, it's my beloved fr the most hard times. And once upon a time it was like a miracle - I began watching all the films of him. I even was puzzled by myself bt felt that something wrong is happening wth him, I don't know why....actually I realise quite well t'great difference between t'movie characters and t'real person of an actor, I'm not a kind of FAN at all, see? bt it was smthng unbelievable i asked by myself fr what i'm doin' tht, when suddenly watched in one video CF: smiling lips and t'eyes full of dead. I know what does it mean in real life, u know. Smthng very painfull, tht a man tries t'hide away and can't forget.... And yes - he is really a great actor. He reminds me our Russian actors of old school - MHAT - Moscow Malij art theatre, cinema actors like Sergej Bondarchuk, Vassilij Lanovoj, Vassilij Livanov, Oleg Dal, Oleg Ephremov, if u know them. He is really great and even he stands the older - becomes the better, like a good wine)))

Елена Логунова Perfectly right, about similiarity with Russian actors you've mention. The point is both acting schools have solid theatrical education as background. And many of them keep performing on stage still. Sadly, not Colin. Though he did so in 1980-90s.

Can I share? Watched Relative Values and realised what a good fellow is Colin Firth like an actor. I mean - he is very helpful and he likes to be on a stage as a team member. Such a rare trait of character in show bis, what do you think? And those mischievous sparkles in his eyes and a kind of happy-go-lucky fellow)) so funny))

Елена Логунова Cannot but agree. He's virtually with me for nearly 20 years now. Most beloved from 1980s Brit Pack of actors actually. All of them are good, but he's the best. No one surprises more, seems he can do everything.

u know I feel you not to understand the Russians))) We are not exposing ourselves. It's a kind of creating of self identity. We are still very traditional. This film Easy V. u're talking ab. corresponds me in a way of painful experience of overthinking - what is me in a new reality? There were some traditional values, tht are still important, bt the other stuff around the person is frustrating - and here come onto t'stage two the most important Russian questions: Whose bally fault is that? and What shall we do now? And there is another stuff: we realise tht we are surrounded by relative people everywhere. Like in a small village. If you move somewhere it is painful because crashing these bonds, social contacts. We need these bonds to analyse our everyday life t'find t'answers via tea brainstorming in the kitchen fr those damn questions Jim and Larita realised to be another kind of people, bt Jim nedeed t'be driven by strong exhiting example to get rid of his zone of comfort and not to take a back number)) He loves comfort)) Larita is like our Russian girls - she is OK everywhere bcs she knows how money is close

Thought u are Russian gay fond of famous actor))) and who told tht our life here is empty? we also have lots to do t'entertain ourselves - for example working fr 12 hours a day t'earn enough to feed the kid and pay a rent, that's why it's dull, like A day of marmot badger, u know. Talking solely of myself - I did it fr 25 years in teaching and is refreshing just now -rereading old classic books, watching films tht were launched many years ago))) And sorry - I haven't got any ideas who are they -"Jim and Larita run away exactly for that reason" I know only Tim Kurby. And of course all cultural spots are in a great value, don't be so angry, dear

Елена Логунова What are you talking about? I can't be gay, for heaven's sake... Well, we'd better drop the theme. I like films. To discuss politics or LGBT here, what for? And all those sickening cliche like "a dull Russian reality". Russian can't do without exposing themselves? And no matter if your life is dull or funny, I was talking about the film "Easy Virtue" and the kind of life Jim and Larita were forced to live there.
