Hi, Nice video... I got the same machine. Today I open the back to repair a mechanical problem, to put a plastic post in the bracket with the spring that makes the machine record. I close it back and now the machine doesn't playback, or even the motors doesn't go in the auto reverse. I didn't touch any electronics, I am baffled. Would you have an idea what it could be? I got a funny smell weird, NOT burned but different... any input would be appreciated. What controls the auto reverse that also makes it playback?

Sir, I haven't messed on the machine after the video which is about 2 years ago. I should also note that I'm a hobbyist and not a technician so there is no standard messing with the machines so that I can understand exactly what repairs you did on yours. Generally speaking I can understand you should first reverse any modifications and see if everything goes back as before. I also suppose you have the service manual, without it I would not do anything in the machine (www.hifiengine.com/ to download it). Amaizing simple and featured machine, I hope you make it perfect. @@dchatz Thank you very much for your response! I didn't change anything electronically. I'm going to change capacitors and move from there. I got the service manual. This is a great sturdy machine. I have repaired various problems including the capstan tire. She was working fine until this happened.
