Hello. There is a line/din switch on the back of the device, check that it is in the right position. If this is OK, check whether the level indicator works after switching on the recording and you can control the recording level. If so, you need to find a small switch in the mechanism that switches between playback and recording. First, check the operation of the switch. However, if the level indicator does not work, you must continue to search for the fault. Because in this device, the recording is not switched by a mechanical switch. From now on, you can only search for faults with an instrument.

Great video. Thank you. Im trying to order tyres. FF and REF is not strong. Are there 2 or 3? Some ads have 2, some 3. HiFiEngine says in comments only one needed, some12x2.5x2.5. But I want to change all. Thank you.

Thank you very much. Well, as far as I remember there is a capstan belt, a counter belt and two idlers. One of them is in the rewinding unit, which is very difficult to repair. And the other is the drive transfer. You can see both in the video.

If you can give a tip where to look please? My f11 in mint cosmetics, nicely play and ff/rew after tyre change. BUT it does not completely erase old records 😢 some 10% volume stays. Any professional advise where to look? Mechanics or electrics? PS looks like I assembled it correctly after tyre change, spring in place, front plate on mechanism goes up smooth. Thank you in advance.

Hello. There is probably an electrical problem. If the recording and playback quality is good, then the combo head is probably good. Check the wiper head. The resistance of the heads must be measured. If it is OK, then the oscillator signal feeding to the heads must be checked. You can check the signal with an oscilloscope. The signal is only in recording mode, then you can measure it and search for errors. Check the transistors TR14 TR15 TR16 marked in the service book connected to the oscillator and the specified voltages.

Hello. There are two motors in this device. In the video, around 42.40, you can see that the capstan engine is always working. Even if play is not switched on, but the power is switched on. By definition, the reel engine cannot work.

Great Video. I have the same model with the same problem with the REW/FF wheel. Where did you find the replacement tire? The installation of the new tire is roughly at the 12 minute mark on the video. Thanks

Thank you very much. I couldn't buy a suitable idler at that time. I went to the first hardware store and bought a good quality O ring. I made the idler out of this. kzread.info/dash/bejne/pKCTlZKxiZyxd7g.html In this video, for example, I converted a pinch roller, but the idler must also be designed in the same way. It's working perfectly fine.

Thanks for the information. The tire appears to be in pretty good shape but a bit hard and slick. I saw where some of the people out there restoring tape decks use Rubber Renue with some success. I have a bottle of that coming today and I"ll give it a try. Otherwise I'll go on an O ring hunt. The deck is otherwise in great condition and I'd like to get it running if possible. Thanks again

@@wingspandigital316 This deck, however, is in a very worn state, and I still haven't had time to deal with it any further. At least I want to fix the front, the box is not that important. Anyway, it's a solid device. Good luck with your work.

Hi, I went to the hardware store and picked up an O ring that fit perfect and now FF & RW work great. Thanks very much for the tip. The 2 belts are operational but very loose and I want to replace them. There are belts on Ebay for this model but they offer both "Version 1" and "Version 2" Based on the photographs the Version 2 capstan/drive belt looks correct but I'm not sure. Do you know how to tell what version deck you have and also, do you have a good source for the belts? Thanks

@@wingspandigital316 In my opinion, on Ebay they sell the Chinese belts that you can get on AliExpress. Much more expensive of course. That's why I've been shopping on AliExpress lately. Only buy a 5 mm wide belt, narrower than this is usually of poorer quality. The wider one, on the other hand, may no longer fit on the motor drive. Unfortunately, I don't know the length of the strap, but you can easily measure it.
