REAL TALK. I love it. Totally agree with the UChicago one - the grad union happened right when I was graduating and it was so unfortunate that a school with such a high endowment and ~profitability~ can't pay fair wages.

I live in Houston and Rice is honestly such a quite school. Like I never hear anything about Rice in the news or anywhere. They really don't contribute much to Houston's sense of self either tbh. The only part of Houston they really have an impact on is the medical district.

But Berkeley is still far more prestigious, is her point. Which is correct. Also, it’s 52 percent, not 68. Mostly because most applicants come from the 24 million southern Californians that mostly likely want to be closer to home as much as possible.

Everyone shits on Cornell because it has the highest acceptance rate of the ivies and is deemed a "safety school" (the acceptance rate is still below 15% or so, though, and Dyson is extremely competitive, so it's mostly just light-hearted elitism). Cornell is also the youngest of the ivies, wasn't a part of the nine colonial colleges, and has parts of it funded by the state of New York like a public school: hence the nickname SUNY Ithaca.

@@asynchloe Oh, I see. I always had trouble understanding academics in general (the people, not the activity). And I should add: this isn't meant to be an insult to those that pursue education, it's simply me being unable to relate to that goal. I always assumed that those qualified enough to get into the best colleges in the world would likely be able to teach themselves any set of skills using the power of the internet, and probably do so in much less time. But if the pursuit is more clout/emotion driven than for the sake of learning, it makes a lot more sense to me (not to mention networking and the subsequent connections that one might make in Ivy league schools).

Suthiraphan Assarat well it's not just about having smartest students = best school! i think it's more about MIT's environment and welcoming / chill / down to earth culture combined with academic rigour without academic punishment and exclusivity that makes it really cool

Suthiraphan Assarat i left out a lot of schools! this was more about famous schools that recently or frequently appear in the news rather than a real ranking (aka why i keep saying it's a joke) -- and again, judging whether a school is great for you or not has little to do with avg. SAT!
