@@no127 No it is not, the underlying tone of the composition is melancholic. And paying attention to the lyrics and expressions might have been helpful because the story is being told from her perspective. But of course I do not expect most people who grew up on 90's music to understand that. Let alone 2 foreigners, even if one of them claims to know music.

@@sanketsc I am not angry, just annoyed, anger is too much to waste on YT :) And nobody has problems with mistakes. Those can be made, rectified etc. Also everybody has their perspective on art so it is not going to be uniform response. The issue is actually watching the video for a reaction is a basic thing, and they are even failing at that. And the subber's reaction is perfectly emblematic of the issues with this channel that people have been pointing out for months. He told me to go somewhere else and only stopped responding when everyone started slamming him. They are rude, condescending, arrogant and just tell people to leave even if someone politely corrects or points something out. Korbin used to do that himself, but now he has his team to do that for him. Recently neither of them reads or responds to anything other than someone expressing their undying love for them. People have been giving context, info, background on so many things repeatedly. But people can only learn from mistakes if they acknowledge them first, or are willing to take feedback other than absolute adoration. And the overall tone of the channel has been to coast on 'minimal effort' for months. Some people just got sick of it, and they responded when the minimal effort became too hard to ignore.

A few years ago an East European friend unexpectedly dropped by my house. I happened to have Rafi’s version of ‘Ehsaan tera hoga mujh par’ playing on my laptop. This woman claims no special musical skills, does not know a word of any Indian language and had never before listened to any form of Indian music (except for some bhangra!). She was mesmerized and absolutely blown away by the quality of Rafi’s singing. She asked to listen to some more of his songs and immediately picked up on a key Rafi trait - his tremendous vocal range (she initially struggled to believe that it was indeed Rafi’s voice in all the songs). Rick and Korbin have reacted to a number of Rafi songs and I have never ever seen either of them even notice Rafi’s singing in the videos, never mind show any awareness of Rafi’s enormous talent. Instead, they tend to go off at a tangent to discuss completely irrelevant stuff, talk over the videos so you can’t hear the song or, for some strange reason, love to randomly bring ‘Big B’ into the ‘reaction’. Rick, in particular, seems bored unless there is some ‘really cool’ cinematography. Heck, though they profess to love Lata, even their review of ‘Chalte Chalte’ was very disappointing. And they just seem to be going through the motions in this one. But back to Rafi - if you remain unmoved by the genius of one of the titans of Indian music, then perhaps the classics really aren’t for you and you should stick to reviewing the modern dross. Anyway, I have unsubscribed. For anyone looking for alternative reactions to some old Indian classics, I recommend Jimmi Croni. She hasn’t reviewed many of these, but at least she genuinely loves Indian cinema and can, without the benefit of subtitles, pick up on the mood by carefully listening to the song and watching the actors. Her reactions to ‘Inhi logon ne’, ‘Chalte Chalte’ and ‘Piya tose naina laage re’ are sublime.

Thanks for a lovely detailed comment, great anecdote about your friend. And yes, I agree. After this much time and this many songs, they really haven't gotten Rafi at all, and how and why he is the greatest. I am starting to think the only reason they pretend to love Lata is because she was introduced with fanfare with her significance and legendary status. And so they stick to the routine, while not even knowing it's her unless told. And they don't actually 'get' Indian music or singing or nuances of the language even after so much exposure, including to classical music and it's intricacies. It's really quite mind boggling. How can anyone be so dense, and not absorb anything at all in this much time. In fact, they seem to have gradually lost brain cells, and get things even less now. The only explanation is, they were actually putting in effort while building an audience, but are quite happy with the numbers they've got now. So now it's just coasting on minimal effort. And not even a pretense of doing any research on background info or context of anything whatsoever. Just make hay while the sun shines. Oh well. Sad to see people who actually understand things become disappointed and leave while mindless celebrity fans stick around as they love being pandered to. Oh well.

@@ant5630 I think they pretend to love Lata because she is still alive and they can pander to their subscribers by reviewing her live performances. Also, no knock on Lata, but even her songs from the later decades are nowhere near the caliber of the earlier ones. Not her fault, the lyricists and the music composers were simply not as good. And simple is the word - these later ‘simpler/mediocre’ songs are much more up Rick’s and Korbin’s alley, rather than those from the 50s, 60s and even the 70s. If it was the other way around and Rafi was still alive today, these two would be raving about Rafi and completely indifferent to Lata’s genius. It flabbergasts me how anyone professing to be musically knowledgeable could listen to Rafi, of all people, and remain completely indifferent - one would think even a tin ear would pick up that it was listening to someone unique and very special.

@@sweetpea6814 They get audience because they are 'aspirational' foreigners and because their audience is just as ignorant about their own cinema and culture as them, so it's not their fault. There is no need to learn when you have the silly teenage and young adults market cornered who flock to watch idiotic reactions to the reactions of other similarly imbecilic YT stuff. Reaction Inception! And memes, or Tinder chats. I mean WTF?!!! Jaby is at least smart to expand his business by building American reaction channels off the back of the Indian numbers. Good for him! He wasn't even wasting his time watching movies this past year because business was good. Now he seems to have figured out that he can monetize the 2 hrs it will take him to watch a movie by putting up videos of his very obvious 'reaction' to pander even more. That way he doesn't have to pretend to 'review' a movie to get a few views because he is so uninformed anyways, it saves him the trouble and makes him more money. Smart! Knows nothing at all about Indian cinema after 5 yrs but now it doesn't even matter.

Request to Rick and Korbin (even though I know you guys don't even bother with feedback any more unless you are getting adored or totally slammed): For Bollywood stuff stick to the 90's (it's not Bollywood before that so let's not insult the classics by calling them that) and songs and fight scenes or whatever of South stars that are requested by South fans. Please just leave the classics alone, at least the Hindi ones (other regions can speak for their classics). This kind of 'reactions' to these beloved songs that people have cherished for decades and grown up on are actually painful to sit through for actual cinema lovers (not the young fans who abound here, because they are uninformed too, people like me who despite being a 90's kid loves 50-60's Hindi cinema and consider it the best phase of the now decrepit Hindi industry). And I don't mean emotionally painful, I mean so cringe they are hard to sit through. It's better to play to your strength; and understanding the history and various phases of Indian cinema is clearly not that for you. So better to avoid.

In the 50s Indian film industry was classy as hell,Raaz Kapoor,Dilip Kumar,Dev Anand,Bimal Roy,Satyajit Ray,Guru Dutt,Uttam Kumar. So many legends working at the same time, some of the stuff made back then is classy still today,Golden era of films. Bollywood has forgotten how to be classy off late.

This is one of the legendary Hindi songs. This is a philosophical song about life and lost love. Next time you hear it pay attention to the lyrics too, you will love the song even more.

Such a legendary song that invokes a lot of emotions in a broken heart. *Mubarakein tumhe k tum kisi ki Noor ho gye* *Kisi k itne paas ho k sabse door ho gye* Mann!!! The meaning of the lyrics only these stupids could understand a little bit of hindi they would have talked about the legendary genius that this song, music and lyrics all together are, but instead these guys are talking about Guadalupe smells like poope! 😏😤

They do understand English though. They weren't paying attention to the subs. And this reaction also was over in 7-8 minutes only. Why even stretch the video when all that you are discussing is shit, and has nothing to do with the video you watched
