Kamma is investment in ethical-mental development as your consciousness is reborn in a future rebirth. Mindfulness of kamma, meditation in everyday life and right view leads to Awakening, end of suffering and rebirth.
I watched a vídeo sometime ago, of rinpoche Tsem, who has actually died some years ago. He said that enlightment does not come from simple breathing meditation, but only if you Project the image of the Buddha while meditating.
