Nicely done. I went to university in Aix for one year, 1977-78, to study the French language and literature and ended up teaching French later on. it was an idyllic year. I was lucky enough to have a French girlfriend and I will never forget riding through the streets of Aix, especially Le Cours Mirabeau, on my motorbike with my girlfriend on the back. It seems like a dream now. Hemingway calls Paris A Moveable Feast and it is a wonderful city as I have lived there as well. But Aix has a Provençal charm and intimacy that Paris can’t match. This video gives a good sense of the way one can stroll the streets of Aix although I would recommend to come not as late in the year (shootings were obviously in autumn and some windy days: I felt cold watching it). Moreover, the light is even better in other seasons. One thing that was missed at the cathedral is the cloister: it is really beautiful and was closed for renovation for years but I believe it is accessible again nowadays.

Thank you, I totally agree. My focus is always on the subject, not me. Once in a while I appear briefly so you know who is talking, but otherwise, it's all about the scenery. Those egomaniacs should realize they are ruining their own program.
Excellent city to walk.....love all those fountains(there are literally hundreds of fountains) Edited: Forgot to mention the Calisson....they are excellent
Hi Denis thank you for this beautiful video
This is such a beautiful laid back movie, not the rushing 'documentaries' that hop & fill youtube and other channels. The music blends as we stroll with you, like loafers - Flaneurs - such a beautiful word.Thank you Denniscallan.I was hoping to see cezzane's studio, at least from the outside - such a wonderful artist who made this place famous. However, Keep up the style/originality.
Beautifully described, excellent work! Please keep creating such quality videos. The channels on you tube these days are very mediocre.

We were in Aix last year 2018 and rented an apartment near the rotunda in the earth or Aix. Only to find out on arrival that the rotunda was shut because of a train line construction and that trees in the court Mirabeau where being taken down.

My family and I are looking to stay in southern France for several days and take day trips out to Montpelier, Marseille and maybe some other citiies. Would you all think Avignon or Aix might be a better base camp? Thanks in advance!

They are both good, but if by train, Avignon has slightly better service. I have lots of videos about both, Avignon: kzread.info/head/PLke86NFI6R8yvfGh3WYY8Xc6GwGrLVRxl and Aix, with Marseilles, kzread.info/head/PLke86NFI6R8xJ8C3hbjW3hblCMZE0ZRzi

Hi! I can tell most of the footage was shot around 2005/2007.. Aix is quite different now, despite it still has the same energy.
Hello, I’m currently in Aix (for 15 years..). But with some city urbanization changement, I would love to know when was the documentary was filming ? Because some part of the city has changed a bit.. like la Fontaine de la rotonde, or the Cours Mirabeau. Is anyone could help me ?

What about la Saints Victoire, le Pavilion Vendôme, le Jas de Bouffand...?
Wonderful video. It gives me what the travel guides and online sites do not. Shame that the city seems to be peppered with graffiti all over. Senseless narcissism that we all have to unfortunately bare witness to. It is here too in America.
I am was in born and Aix-en-Provence the City is very culture vegetables they is the Sun but i dont like mentality people the life very expensive I love british

How is perpignan perceived in France?
This is exactly what I am afraid to lose forever with the crazy politicians in the countries around the world, but the most people do not care of, because in their heads instead of brain they have sheep's fat in enormous abundance. I can not find other explanations. People of the world, please, do something about it and ASAP, otherwise will be very late! Yours, Marty, who loves this ferry tale very much and want to leave all of it for our children and grandchildren forever.
Funny thing about that fountain... those don't look like dolphins
