I like that it “unusually” has analog VU meters - functioning purely as eye-candy in this case but you would have a rough indication of VU levels when recording to a cassette, the only things I don’t like about it is; it has a tray loading CD player and the cassette recorder has no window ~ you can’t see the CD/cassette being played 😕. 😣 ~ the low-bit rate “crap” camera footage is awful

Thank you for your video. I found and bought an Aiwa XR-FD55 which is the same unit but with a minidisc player. (I collect minidiscs) Before taking it apart and cleaning it, I wanted to know what kind of manipulations I would have to do. Now I'm going to do it!

Also, it's interesting to read "Sony" inside the device. The Aiwa brand was bought in 2003 by Sony, and if I'm not mistaken, the Aiwa XR-FD55 was released in 2004...so it's almost a Sony device.
