Aiwa AD 6500 Renovation - Troubleshooting and the first rebelting

Ғылым және технология

So, today we are back with the 1976 Aiwa AD6500.
I start the video by fitting the drivebelts in the correct sequence and then attempting to test the deck.
I explain how the motor receives its voltage. You have a 14V supply from the mains transformer. This goes through a 250mA fuse and then onto a diode rectifier. The now DC 14V comes off of the main board and goes to the lever arm microswitch on the side of the cassette carriage. Pressing this switch energises the motor.
The motor has its own controller built into the motor itself.
I show where to measure voltages and how to troubleshoot no rotation from the motor.

How does the cassette “sled” if you will, work? Does it have a motor and belt that pulls the cassette up?

Well, originally it would have had a rubber strip on the sled which the motor idler would grip against. There are two switches, one that detects movement in the sled, so, you push the tape and the motor starts trying to take in the sled. The second switches the load motor off and activates the main deck motor. Now, the rubber strip is long worn smooth. Rubber renew does not revive it now does a light sanding!!
