I like that japanese anthem is the shortest one and has emotional/melancholic feel.

According to wikipedia it was based on British national anthem "God save the queen". Japan did not have the concept of national anthem, it was an Irish military officer suggested to create one.

Fun Fact: The Japanese Anthem is about 1000 years old and was written in Japanese that Japanese people doesn't usually use anymore. The Anthem was originally a song that referred to a loved one, meaning Japan is the nation we love.

Okinawan people do not like Kimigayo. When the US military invaded Okinawa, the Japanese government sent out false information that US forces tortured or killed the Okinawan people, causing the frightened Okinawans to commit suicide. A famous Japanese singer, Amuro Nami, was threatened by many Japanese people because she didn't stand up when Kimigayo flowed out. She is from Okinawa

Listening to 君が代, in particular in this rendition, I feel like I can see centuries back, to a time of old, it's like I'm being brought back to a place where nostalgia resides. This anthem is something more than simple music: it is heritage, tradition, memory and a nation's soul. May Japan's prosperity last ten thousand years, and more! An Italian friend
