I was an Airframes Supervisor of a Vigilante squadron in 1973. It was a tough time and all of us worked hard to fulfill our missions at the end of the Vietnam War. I thank all of you for being hardworking individuals during this time!!

It is interesting but I still prefer Top Gun's epic legendary intro aboard the USS Enterprise.
Being a former Marine who did 2 westpacs aboard amphibious assault ships, it brings tears to my eyes knowing how valuable this service is they are doing. They all have my total support and prayers. I just wish I could be there to see any part of a carrier battle group returning from overseas.

An this is from a Navy vet. Huge respect to any an all service. Whether enlisted or otherwise. You. Matter.
U can build a new carrier , but these people working hard with decades of carrier experience is the most precious assets that standing apart from the rest in naval power.
I'm glad they don't have the heavy metal music with this video. I love the natural sound of the flight deck.
Dam, I miss those great NAVY days. I love it.
ABH 2.... Loved it! The skill, the professionals, the guts, and the grit.....
thanks for the credits in the description! Im glad you all like my footage!
Never get tired of watching precision at its best.
I remember when this carrier dock at westport malaysia with uss aegis destroyer kidd back in early 2000's. We had a chance to get aboard the vessel and it amaze me the size of a hangar can fit 2 football field inside the belly of this mothership. Thank u us navy for making my wish came true.
team work at its best! Love that vid with live sound and no hard rock ! Go Navy !
So interesting to watch operations as a spectator, but do realize lots of isolationism. The do have different things to improve morale. My brother was on the Vinson, the captain was big into fishing and slowed the carrier down for people to fish off the back. A few people did, when the captain got word that someone got into a marlin...he told the ship to back up (to help reel in the fish). The mess hall ended up providing the fish for din din that day.
These carrier operations never cease to amaze me. The level of cooperation that is needed not from just launching and retrieving planes, but from every task on board right down to the resupply and the sorting and moving of goods as well as the chiefs preparing the meals! All monumental tasks and the Good ole USA does it well!! 👍

Excellent video.
Nothing in the world matched the excitement of working the flight deck of an Aircraft carrier also very hazardous. Accidents happened people were hurt a few died. Served on USS Midway (Midway Magic) with VA115 . Also VA145 USS Range.r Worked as an AD squadron and AIMD jet shop. One of the best times of my now 60 year old life 1978-1982.

Oh, VA115, I was on the USS Midway in '83 and IO cruise in '84, AIMD IM3 division. CDR Schramm was the AIMD officer. The avionics shop was right under the flight deck O2 level port side, just aft and above the LOX plant. It got noisy while trapping aircraft especially if they bolter and drag that tail hook across the flight deck. I do not miss that part.

I can imagine a few types of danger: * Being sucked by an intake * Being hit by a plane * Being burned by exhaust * Falling off the deck * Aircraft crash debris * Broken arrestor cable hitting stuff Am I missing something?

There was no shortage of accidents on the ship. The Flying squad was always being dispatched. First cruise there was a launch with my squadrons aircraft that one of the launch crew was sucked in the intake. He lived because his cranial helmet came off the engine backfired and he came back out the intake in a hurry. The engine did not survive.
It’s hard to believe that there aren’t more accidents and fatalities on the aircraft carrier. Great job!

Really enjoyed this video. Always impressed by the sheer numbers of crew members it takes to operate a super carrier. And the fact that the work never stops. Much respect and admiration for the entire crew, from the captain to the pilots to the flight deck, the mechanics, and everyone else who wears the uniform. Keep up the good work!
stunning.. thanks to everyone on that ship.

Stennis’s anchors are all that remains of my old ship, the USS Forrestal. I don’t know who John Stennis was but this ship has history attached to it as far as I’m concerned.

i was in va-81 on the forrestal 71 to 75. i had heard the anchors went to the lincoln. thanks for the info. pretty crappy the way the navy did all the old oil burners. lot of history cut up for scrap.take care shipmate.

Naw, the stinkin Lincoln was commissioned in 89 when the FID was still active duty. I hear you though. I would’ve liked the FID to become a museum in Baltimore but the DoD wouldn’t go for it and ended up selling it and all the other oil burners for a penny apiece. Terrible.

The Stennis is named for a senator or congressman from I believe Mississippi. Don't know how he rated a ship. But there it is. If I'm not right I'm damn close.

Not necessarily, the Aircraft of each Squadron with the Mode Numbers ending as "00" such as 200 are all marked as the CAG of the Air Wing, and or CO of the of the Carrier. A pilot will be assigned to fly a different Aircraft each Flight.
amazing teamwork for training purposes. On the other hand, modern warfare is no more throwing bombs but economic sanctions
