was only 10years old at the time but can remember all whats in this vid like it was yesterday, obviously been just 10 my parents used to bring me to the airport but from the mid 90s used to get the train over from leeds, the difference between just 1989 to the mid 90s is amazing, the 90s really saw massive growth at manchester airport, i can remember been at the airport pub at the end of runway 24 as i believe it was then, the queues of aircraft waiting to take off at times was crazy with there been just one runway at the time, you can see why 2 runways were needed. one observation in the vid,that novair dc10 uses a hell of a lotta runway!

Yes , we thought that Novair wasn’t going to make it . Never trust a DC-10 lol.

@@volvof86 i flew on an md11 out of MAN back in 1998 to vegas, think it was one of them world airways ones, went with a right bang at Vegas on landing, so yes im abit on edge when it comes to dc10s and md11s haha

Used be Cal Air! Flew twice in 80s to Ibiza on them and once to New Jersey from Manchester Continental DC10 great planes! Maintenance let them down

It's crazy to think that this is how Manchester was! I've only known it as an International Airport since first flying in May 1991 from here on G-IEAB as an incredibly excited 10-year old. Not the Dual Runway, 3 Terminal massive expanse it is nowadays. Good video however, and I just really can't get over the astonishment of having such a wide area with no fence, would be truly unthinkable in today's world 🤪🤣.

I had a mate who did work experience with Air Europe in the mid 80's, got to on flights in the cockpit.

You lucky sod. In 1994, on holiday in Singapore, I met the then Chief pilot/examiner for Royal Brunei he had been the senior pilot for Air Europe until its sad demise. He put the collapse of it down to pressure from other large national airlines..
