    Many of the riders in MotoGP actually wear leathers with airbags in them. It's a pretty good idea and protects the riders (somewhat) in case they happen to go down. Especially the ones with previous injuries from the sport. Whatever helps. :)

    I purchased this jacket about a year ago. It's a great jacket if your doing alot of commuting because of the IMPACT protection. Curbs, street lights, and stopped cars are a bid danger to motorcyclists in terms of recieving internal injuries from impact. Leather Jackets and suits provide primarily ABRASION protection. Perfect for track days and long highway rides where high speed sliding and skin loss is a huge factor. Airbag jackets need to be mainstream by now. Airbags save lives in cars so why not motorcycles?

  • @iElectronics1

    @iElectronics1

    If you even did a small amount of research you'd know that more than half of motorcycle accidents occur at intersections. That takes care of curbs and street lights bud. You sure you're wearing your helmet out there?

  • @Gankez

    @Gankez

    7 жыл бұрын

    ya know thats a good point.. i never considered how those pesky curbs and street lights like to run out into the middle of intersections like that...i always figured the issue was the 4000 lb car that pulled out in front of the guy...

  • @iElectronics1

    @iElectronics1

    7 жыл бұрын

    That obviously is a huge issue. Impacts with cars are devastating. But I know a few people who have been killed by impacts with objects on the side of the road (street lights, electrical poles, etc.) It's not a joking matter... If you had the slightest sense of awareness you'd know that the flowers next to street lights and poles are for the people who hit them and are now dead. Cars and motorcycles alike. As for the curbs, your body continues sliding after a fall. If you're in a city, a curb is usually there to catch you.

    @jodwhitfield ye ur right it should be electronic, like if hes moving, a receiver should sense it and if he is to get into a crash the receiver would electronically release the bag, but if hes at a complete stop and gets off than the receiver will notice that hes safely getting off the bike and not release the bags

  • @theripmon81
    @theripmon8116 жыл бұрын

    It straps onto something to your bike. I read somewhere people sometimes forget to unhook it and it just gives them a little "tug". I believe these types of jackets just use a standard CO2 canister so if it does trigger, just pack the bags back up and change the canister and there you go.

    My idea is an armor suit with inflatable bladders at all of the important usual areas that need to be protected. that can be inflated with a small and inexpensive or re-fillable air canister (like the one's sold in sporting goods stores for pellet guns) . One valve on the suit is used to de-flate the bladders or to fill all of them at once.

    @toobie11 i dont think the idea of airbag jackets are meant to protect from abrasion but more from an initial impact of hitting the road, doesnt really matter once your sliding as your leathers should protect you from abraision, could potentially save lives

  • @barrkel

    Actually, what usually happens when a bike collides with a car is the rider is thrown forward and up into the air. The bike pivots up around its front wheel, and the seat + pegs push the rider up; meanwhile, the rider keeps his existing forward momentum until he hits something himself. The point of the airbag is to soften whatever that collision is.

    This is best idea for airbag use ever. Having friends who ride amongst the stupidest car drivers in America (California) I really hope this safety gear becomes as ubiquitous as the helmet and the kevlar jacket. The neck protection is probably the best part. I presume this is impulse triggered like a shock meter? Good luck getting this on the general market! You have a great design!
