Air Rifle Hunting, Nordik Crow Call Review 2012
This is just a short film review of the Nordik Crow call that i have been trying out. It is designed for the European market and developed to imitate the European crow species namely the Hooded and Carrion crow.

Crow calls are an underrated tool for hunting, most guys I hunt with here in the States just sit and wait for a crow to show up. On one trip I took my scoped Ruger 77/22 long rifle, Remington 28 gauge 870 and a good crow call. I blew a "panic" call and the sky turned black with pissed off crows. The Remington made quick work of the air born crows then the Ruger took care of the ones in the trees from 75 to 125 yards. In point, crow calls DO work if anyone has doubts.
@TheSleighbo The crows here in Northern Ireland are the hooded crow and if i manage to get some footage of the call in action i will upload it.
Man that thing really yells. Good one Mr. James.
Sounds really good, far more realistic than calls I've used in the past. They normally sound like ducks calls!
Love your vids man, never get boring!
@88outdoorsman We have jackdaws, rooks and ravens which are all black and members of the crow family but the crows here are the hooded crow as they have a gray back.
Fun calling them in isn't it? I have an electronic caller, actually I have 2: Johnny Stewart brand and Wildlife technologies brand. BOTH are extremely effective in calling in crows. What usually drives them nuts is a single 'come here crow'; (hit that a couple times) then the crow frenzy. Thats killer! I also have called them in with a hand call but I can't handle the call and shoot at the same time....so the ecaller usually gets the job! Thanks for the vid!
Thats the first caller that i`ve heard that really is convincing. Good find :)
It did once when i was trying it out one day and brought a crow right over head as i stood out on the farm lane but i didn't get any footage of it.
If you click on the link in the description box you should find were to buy it and the current cost.
@CountryPursuitsTV Thanks Malc glad you liked it but i think i need a lot more practice.
@xarvex Thanks i haven't got any shooting footage of the call in action yet but hopefully if i do i'l upload it.
@paigow66 It probably wouldn't be loud enough unless the birds were very close and we are not allow to use an electric call for shooting birds in the UK.
I've used an Acme crow caller... it's pretty effective too but the Nordik Crow call you show sounds a lot more realistic.
I see you've tested many calls. What would you recommend for air rifle hunting?
Thanks for watching.
Hard to tell the difference, great call dude!
Great video would love to see more videos of you reviewing products that airgunners use. Good job
Wow, If I were to look away, and just listen I would say that really does sound like a crow! Not bad at all for not having a lot of practice on this call. It would be interesting to see how this attracts in your next video. Great stuff from you, as always. Note, my newest addition is a CZ200, with a FX smooth twist 24" barrel, 22-cal. Very interesting combo, I'll let you know how it shoots soon. Take care.
How good would simply using your phone to replay any animal sound vs a device like this be.
@100021861 I might depend on whether or not its a Chinese or French crow as i was trying to speak in Irish crow.
@waddac2 I have heard of the matchbox and 35mm camera tub trick but i have never used it, maybe i'l give it a try some day. Thanks.
Sounds good but did it bring in any crows since you started using it? Cheers
@SuffolkAirGunner Thanks, i used to use a JVC 330 but its three years old now so this is the first film with the new canon HF s30.
@streamstalker39 Yes i think it sounds a lot more raspier than other calls i have tried.
luv to see u useing it on a hunt
have you called any crows in wth it yet? please reply. thanks
@moonbear If you were good on a wood lathe you could make one but you would have to tune it in to sound right.
love your vids mate
Thanks, all though it would suite a shotguner better i have used it with some success on hooded crows with an airgun.
could you make a tutorial for this product? I can't seem to get the right sound

Well i wouldn't say that i'm very good with the call ether but i did experimented with adding different amounts of pressure to the lips of the call with my teeth or lips as i blew, well blew isn't the right word as you are supposed to exhale the air from your diaphragm when using a mouth call not just blow into it and you can add a bit of a raspy sound by closing your throat a little also cupping your hand over the end of the call can give you a deeper pitch as well. But it can take a lot of time and practices to get the right sound.
@TS011969 If i manage to get hunting footage of the call in action i'l up load it.
nice information and video...
@leftymadrid That sounds like a nice air rifle, if i manage to get some hunting footage of the call in action i';l upload it.
@cressy7isback Thanks, The link should be there now in the description box if you click the see more button.
@sjohnson1776 Yes an electric call is handier when you are on your own but we are not allowed to use electric calls for shooting birds in the UK for some reason.
have you tried iut yet ... any results
@dean14111 I managed it once but if i can get some hunting footage of it in action i'l upload it.
Very good, i have used this call a few times as well to help bring a few Hooded crows into range of the air rifle, but the shotgun would be the best tool.
@markal391 If i can get some hunting footage of it in action i'l upload it.
hey me again. Im from the USA and i try to order a MFR .22 like yours but no matter where i go i always get stuck in a UK internet site and have to speak to some body so it can be shipped. any ideas on what i could do
what is the best rifle for shooting rabbits, by the way i am only 14 year old
Most of the time i would listen for a crow calling in the distance then try and copy its call to try and bring it closer.
@Guerilla1337 Yeah that would be good if i can manage it, thanks for the comment.
@hatsan38 Thanks for watching.
Thanks sounds like a good idea.
@grahamh1967 Thanks i'l have to try and get some hunting footage of it in action.
@nobull60 Thanks but i think i need a lot more practice.
@Jack70903 Yeah if i manage to get hunting footage of it a'l upload it.
Were are you from?
Thank you.
sounds pretty good!
how much is one of these?
I use both .177 and .22 for hunting all species that are legal, but calibres do the same job just as well as each other.
Hi Matt, I use a Weihrauch HW100 sub 12ftlbs, for rabbits, vermin and game control on my permissions, I find it has a kill shot up to around 60yds with plenty of practice. Hope this is of any use.
Hi what do you think of the call?

I liked it though i don't use crow calls very much just bait and decoys as i don't think i'm very good with them.
Yes, finally u bought one! I got this crow call too, and it works... sometimes u get alot of crow coming in on this call. Works good with the bird of prey.... ;) Hope u make some videos when u calling and shooting with ur airrifle :) Would be awesome! Just a tip! :P Nice video mate! :)
That's actually very impressive
Nice vid, it sounds realistic, you will have to keep us in the loop as to the effectiveness. :) Graham.
Great video again..... I know this Video was a Crow call, but Have you done a video of calling magpies with an old match box filled half way with old pellets or small stones? I have also found a 35mm camera film tub works wonders for this... To call from a distance, use less fingers in the clasp, to gain from greater distance.... thumb and first finger and shake. Great video again mate :o))))))
great video. you going to do some more product testing at all? ATB Bazza.
Are there black crows in Ireland like there are in the us
That sounds pretty damn good.
Yes, give it a try, it works a treat ;o))))
very nice mate
Nice one David the first of the two calls did seem very convincing ATB Malc CPTV
How much is it?
Yep, same here mate, and I was taught that from my grandad.... it was past onto to uncles and my father......... Then to me, Ive dropped many using the matchbox method ;o)))))
There is a Theoben USA website you could try.
thats very good. gonna order one now

Glad you found the vid useful.
@paigow66 i dont think a phone would really be loud enough without amplification of some kind but would be an interesting comparison...good question
@huggy99huggy Yes I shoot crows and you can call them in to shoot using a hand or mouth call but not an electric call in the UK.
@MrCauphy Thank you.
@frstvan Thanks, i have a review of the NS200 Nitesite coming soon and i did a review of the Bush Chair hide some time ago on my channel.
@haveadot No but the UK importer sent me a call to try out, the least i could do to say thanks was to do a vid on it.
I'm 16 and I use a BSA Ultra Multishot which is very good value for what it is.
And where is crows? It's can't work (
@waddac2 the match box trick works a treat, my grandad taught me that one
@bluedyson1 Thank you i should have a review of the NS200 Nitesite soon and i have a review of the Bush Chair hide on my channel also.
Most good quality PCP's, I'd say a BSA would be your best option. If you are going to shoot smaller numbers, go for a single shot rifle like the BSA Scorpion (I have one and it is a great, simple rifle). If you want to shoot quite a few go with a ten shot.
@kardredren Thank you.
@mrwiggles2 Thank you.
@acoustik2008 Yeah the hunting vids are more fun to watch and film.
@85k11 Thanks.
@particlepete1 Thanks.
good video tnx, also first !
@wanderinggibbon Thanks.
Thanks its more the call than me though.
@fidget135 I am from Northern Ireland.
@huntersvermin, i had my door open, and the maid in the building where i live in bangkok watched, said your mental :) lol
@cayote64 Thank you.
@senk8drol Thanks.
@asairguns Thanks.
Sounds good! I hope you can show a video one day where you call a crow and then take him down... Keep it up HV
@mcavlan65 Thank you.
@eat4peace I used to have a jackdaw as a pet back int day, only lived about 2 years though.
@eat4peace Its really cool.
@GWHcraig1088 Thanks.
you are such a chilled out hunter not like some who i end up argueing when i say 177 is not good for hunting it all back fires but 22 has more kinetic energy than a 177 people think speed is the way to go and prefesnal hunters like you i will never argue with you because you know a 22 is better for hunting ok a 177 is good for rat shooting but 22 is better for hunting medium game like rabbits
@michaelgreen221 Thank you.
