Air Rifle Hunting, Nordik Crow Call Review 2012

This is just a short film review of the Nordik Crow call that i have been trying out. It is designed for the European market and developed to imitate the European crow species namely the Hooded and Carrion crow.

Crow calls are an underrated tool for hunting, most guys I hunt with here in the States just sit and wait for a crow to show up. On one trip I took my scoped Ruger 77/22 long rifle, Remington 28 gauge 870 and a good crow call. I blew a "panic" call and the sky turned black with pissed off crows. The Remington made quick work of the air born crows then the Ruger took care of the ones in the trees from 75 to 125 yards. In point, crow calls DO work if anyone has doubts.

@TheSleighbo The crows here in Northern Ireland are the hooded crow and if i manage to get some footage of the call in action i will upload it.

Sounds really good, far more realistic than calls I've used in the past. They normally sound like ducks calls!

Fun calling them in isn't it? I have an electronic caller, actually I have 2: Johnny Stewart brand and Wildlife technologies brand. BOTH are extremely effective in calling in crows. What usually drives them nuts is a single 'come here crow'; (hit that a couple times) then the crow frenzy. Thats killer! I also have called them in with a hand call but I can't handle the call and shoot at the same time....so the ecaller usually gets the job! Thanks for the vid!

@paigow66 It probably wouldn't be loud enough unless the birds were very close and we are not allow to use an electric call for shooting birds in the UK.

Wow, If I were to look away, and just listen I would say that really does sound like a crow! Not bad at all for not having a lot of practice on this call. It would be interesting to see how this attracts in your next video. Great stuff from you, as always. Note, my newest addition is a CZ200, with a FX smooth twist 24" barrel, 22-cal. Very interesting combo, I'll let you know how it shoots soon. Take care.

Well i wouldn't say that i'm very good with the call ether but i did experimented with adding different amounts of pressure to the lips of the call with my teeth or lips as i blew, well blew isn't the right word as you are supposed to exhale the air from your diaphragm when using a mouth call not just blow into it and you can add a bit of a raspy sound by closing your throat a little also cupping your hand over the end of the call can give you a deeper pitch as well. But it can take a lot of time and practices to get the right sound.

Great video again..... I know this Video was a Crow call, but Have you done a video of calling magpies with an old match box filled half way with old pellets or small stones? I have also found a 35mm camera film tub works wonders for this... To call from a distance, use less fingers in the clasp, to gain from greater distance.... thumb and first finger and shake. Great video again mate :o))))))

Most good quality PCP's, I'd say a BSA would be your best option. If you are going to shoot smaller numbers, go for a single shot rifle like the BSA Scorpion (I have one and it is a great, simple rifle). If you want to shoot quite a few go with a ten shot.
