you can use iso 32 or 46. highly recommend using a biodegradable hydraulic oil due to the leaks on these things.

This is my second inground lift my 1 st house up in Illinois i installed in 1999 its a globe , single post ..still in that garage....when i moved to Florida. 6 yrs ago .i looked around for a inground lift..found one in 2022..a Rotary lift 1983 unit same type as in your video..has a oil tank.. same controls ..i restored it .. sandblasted the piston casing .. painted it ,then brushed on truck bed liner..heavy..dug a 8 ft hole .. the only thing i did do is keep the oil tank above ground..new piping .coated them as well...added. 50 gal of hydraulic oil..now in-service..i did add oil valve ball valve on the line to shut it off..as a safety thing ..and also on the air line too..i have grandkids here.. paramount for safety..

I install service and repair automotive equipment. The old SPIG(Single post inground) is an awesome lift that I do repairs and service on almost 1-2 times a week. That lift you have is a for-aft. You don’t need to install anything on your lift. You do need to have the gland seal replaced and depending on the brand you’ll need to replace the packing and bushing. Those lifts will go for 20 plus hears without needing serviced . And the water oil issue you have is because you have too much water in your air system. You need to install an air dryer or a water separator. Once your SPIG oil gets contaminated with water it will cause issues. Also some SPIGs can’t be repaired. Some brands have the bushing welded in internally and cannot be replaced . If you raise your lift up a few inches from the top or as high as you can get it if you can’t go that high, push and pull on the top of the rack to see if you have play back and forth . If you do the lift is not repairable depending on the brand/manufacture

I know I’m about 3 years late to this party but I have a 1971 “western lifts” 8000 lb lift in my shop,it was installed new back then ,I know nothing about it except that it does work last time I used it was around 12 years ago,My interest in trying to get it working safely has increased as I have a couple of jobs coming up and I Don’t want to be laying on the floor using a floor jack jack stands as my knees are junk and I’ve gained about 40 pounds over the last five years LOl!!,im going to test it with around 4000 lbs and see if it will still lift a car and keep it in the air without killing me,I do have a couple of chain falls I was thinking of rigging to the main truss above as a “saftey”in case it all of the sudden let go id have atleast alittle notice,,far as I can tell the company is still in business I may call to see if they offer a manual, maybe the resuscitation of this lift will be my 1st KZread video??,anyway thanks for your video.,

Yes, old video, I enjoyed the lift for what it was worth. A little unsafe only having a safety at the top, but it did a good job. It was removed by my school for insurance liability compliance. Best of luck with yours

Does anyone know the type, or name of manufacturers that made the second lift? We have one of these in our shop that hasn't worked in prob 25+ yrs. We think its an old Weaver. The building was built in the early 60's so we assume it was installed during the construction. We're trying to figure out what to do with it.

IF ANYONE COULD HELP THAT KNOWS HOW THESE OPERATE..... I've got a Globe I think 8000 pounder. I have a few other numbers on the nomenclature that I don't know what they represent with the printed wording has disappeared over the time. It has the same "pressurizing" lever but not the other one to raise. Only one lever operates the lift. It takes a lot longer to lift and drop than what is shown here. Last night, when reaching bottom, drop height it was spewing oil and water from the air relief. (Writing that last as it was going on on this video. I can't find any info on Globe website. Thank you for this vid and any advice in advance.

U can contac svi..at 1800 321 8173. In dekalb il. U have a simi hyd system...fs10 a.s. i belive.. They build them as well and have parts u need..to repair ..our lift was instaled in 1950. ..still works today..give them a call ..i bet u have a lot of water in the oil. .make shure u have a air filter on the main air line .to get the water and drain your air comprsoir ..if the seal on the lift is not leaking..so far your good ..you can check the oil in the system as long as there no air in it..turn off the air ..and drain the comprsor of air for safety..open the oil fill thers a dip stick buit in on the oil plug..check it level ..if u need hyd oil add it.... Reinstale oil plug and try it ..again..theres a vent screew on the casing. Open it a crack of u hear air hissing out ..it needs bleeding untill u get oil comming out ..then close it...it should work...

The 2 lift i wouldnt use anymore..looks like u bloww out the main seal..danger. Leave it be turn off the air to it.....the fist lift..it seems good as long as it dosnt leak down. When u pessure it..air valve..2nd valve is an oil valve..fully hyd system..it looks like the sm leg needs some oil on the lift lock to work again. My dad has an old globe lift similar to yours it was instaled in 1950 i belive ..still works..old school lifts are best. Your modal # is globe fydt-10...8000lbs.. U can still get parts .from svi.inc. dekalb il. 1800 321 8173. They have parts for all inground lifts..give them your model # and ser..#..even if its 50 yrs old..i hope this helps u...but emty out your air filters. From water..so it dosnt get into the lift oil..

I would love to add..to this. At your school shop,lift..if it stays up..it should be ok...no leaks..it went up smoothly..if it bounce s..going up..or down..it's got issues..don't use it..at all..we have simer lifts in our shop.. when we were servicing cars ..untill 1999. That were installed in 1950s..still working to this day..I still run them up..to make shure there working..and they do..in 2021..shop been closed since 1999.use building as my storage room..for things..il still change my oil now and then..I still trust the lifts..to this day..

You have a seal blown out on the table lift ..its done..do not use that lift any more..un safe..could kill somone ....again the first lift u showed us. Still looking good ..the fill valve yellow Handel...is your air to ..the oil tank in the ground...agenst the wall..the outer. Handle is called an oil valve...which let the oil in the piston..to raise it...old school lift..as long as that lift stays up,not not slip down..your good to go...just make shure your lift lock engaged..for safety..I have a globe lift in my home shop..that' works well. My dad's old service station had the same lift..as yours in that school installed in 1957..it worked till he sold and retired in 1999..I trust them. More than a above ground unit. But I took the newer one out of his station witch was only 5 yrs old..in 1999..when they were removed all of them. And put in in my home shop..it still works today..2022..I use it once in a while..its a single post ..globe...ty for your video...nice..

@@stepheneggert2696 Definitely will. You seek to have quite a bit of knowledge of this system. When I run my air compressor throughout the day the lift raises on its own. And when I shut the air compressor off for the day the lift is back on the floor by the next morning. Why does it do this? Also I'm getting oil leaking out of it from somewhere. It puddles up on the floor around it. Amy suggestions? All help is appreciated. Can't find many people that know much about them these days.

Just be carfull ..on older lifts. Make shure that the non rotor leg is up not resting on the floor..if its resting on the floor lock...add some air to the lift..to go up a little if it drops on it own u know it leaks air ..call a lift repair co.svi.interntanail at 1800321 8173 they have parts for all inground modals and can give u the name of a local repair co to help u.. Ok if the lifts stays up release the lift lock in the top of the leg ..it should clear it so it can go down..exit the air at controls ..it should go down..but if its up still stay away from it ..if it drops down it can kill you..be vary carefull around it at all times. My advice..i hope this is helpful..
