After walking through Sneakercon and looking for the best deal possible; Vick had a big come up when he found these Jordan 5s. Now they weren't in the worst condition, but they needed some work for sure. Plus it is now going to be Vick Almighty's personal pair!
To start the restoration we needed to clean the sneaker entirely using the RESHOEVN8R Signature Cleaning Kit. Now we don't always recommend putting sneakers in the wash especially with delicate materials, but these were 100% okay in the wash! They used to make shoes higher quality back in the day. However, no matter how you clean it, cleaning used sneakers is a necessity. After all you never know who rocked this sneaker before you!
We started with the pretreatment to break down the dirt and grime on the inside and outside of the sneaker. Vick used the 3 different brushes and natural solution to scrub every crevice of the PSG Jordan 5s. After the pretreament it was time to toss these in the wash on a normal cycle with cold water and allow them to dry. The main reason for using the washing machine was to flush the materials and give the sneaker a nice disinfecting... Plus it made this used shoe smell 100X better!
After the cleaning it was time to move on with the restoration. Next step was to repaint the midsole to make the shoe look as good as new. The sneaker wasn't in horrible condition, but it was evident that there was a botched restoration at one point! The repaint was easy for Vick, because black is the easiest color to lay down.
After that was taken care of we needed to remove the oxidation. You already know oxidation is going to happen on icy bottoms whether you wear the sneaker or not! For this we used Sole Revive and the UV rays from the Vick 2000.
The restoration was straight to the point and fairly simple, but overall 100% necessary! These once worn sneakers were ready to go on Vick's foot. When do you think he will wear these?!

Thanks to 5 yrs of being subscribed I had the courage to clean and restore a grail of mine being the AJ 23 white and varsity red from 2008. The surprise is that they are very well still wearable. Thanks Vic for everything you do!

What type of turntable display is that?
Actually you can restore hard soles (still in testing phases), the process is a little risky on certain shoes, can eat old foam midsoles, and strip paint if it's rubbed while it's active, but you have to soak the shoes in a solution mix with Methyl Salicylate. Soles have to be soaked for about 24-48 hours, need to be on the shoes or they will soften too much and lose shape, and needs to be a really low level to avoid contact with the uppers or midsole walls. 👏 @VickAlmighty I need your help with a replacement liner for a pair of old 720 dunk SB's I'm restoring. Can't find the proper material, was told it needs to be sublimated with the correct pattern on probably a white liner. Any help would be amazing, reached out to a few people who do recon and no one's willing to help. 😭

Hey!! Nice job, quick question… Why you don’t use the 2-hard Angelus additive for painting the midsole? I understand this is important, so the paint doesn’t crack.

As per my understanding, a 2-hard Angelus additive gives a hard film. This can make the midsoles firm which can make them crack soon due to pressure. We use Krylon matte finish as a paint fixer.

@@RESHOEVN8R no doubt! I have the low 5version of the PSG run (taupe haze) if you guys come across them you should do a cleaning video- they have a very unique (and light color) material on the upper that would be interesting to see someone approach for cleaning

What about the side netting being yellow?? How do you fix that? I used the other brand…FZ on my netting on Jordan 5 golf white cement and turned super yellow gold! Ahhhh ruined them.

Honestly, removing yellowing from any part of the uppers is difficult. You may put then under the sun or UV box.
I have a question when cleaning an icy/translucent sole how should I go about cleaning it to prevent it from accelerating oxidation?

To clean it you would use our Stiff Brush and solution, but our Sole Revive is the best method to remove yellowing from icy bottoms.

Here in Arizona, your shoes will get dusty like this after a few wears. We wore them for a couple weeks to get them dirty for this project.

What would be cool if vic showed us how to clean 🧼 hats and restored them or customized them since he wears them a lot just like how he painted the basketball 🏀 back then not just restoring or clean shoes 👟 do something a little different once in a while 😂😂😊😊
