Collaborations will never die. The stories people tell through these collaborations pump new life into the brand and are essential in the brand connecting to the consumer in ways that they cannot do alone. Those complaining about collaborations being “dead” were never buying shoes for their own interests to begin with and only concerned with getting cool points for having an expensive/hype shoe. Everything isn’t for everyone, and that’s okay. Moral of the story is buy what you like.

To the ones not liking this pair will eventually change their mind when they see them in person. Crazy nice materials and build quality. Be you, buy what you like, and enjoy them. I'll keep a long story short. I was the first person in my junior high, 1996, That rocked the Jordan 11 Concord. Some of my friends started to make fun of me because they said they look like tap dancing shoes. Approximately two to three weeks later, EVERYONE and their mama went to cop them. That was such a different shoe during that time and look what it has become. An absolute beast of a grail And one of the best Jordans ever created. 💯 I think these are different, they are fresh, And they will definitely grow on you and the community. Facts.

What they should have done was make the collar stitching woven, and the swoosh woven not halff the damn shoe lol

The first time I saw these, I thought they were some heavy heat. Still feel the same way about them. I love how they added their own twist along with the story of the shoe, something different for once. Collaborations are a way of expressing ideas and making them come to life, and Union x BBS x Jordan did a great job making it happen. Without that knitting, they'd just be a white an all white Jordan 1, nothing special, and people will start complaining about that. Can't please everyone, but to each their own. Union did an amazing job on these joints.

Sneaker Collabs aren't ending but I feel the inherent hype of a collab will be less effective in selling a shoe. It used to be any collab on any mildly loved shoe = crazy resell value. Now it'll be judged by the shoe design and meaning of the collab. On a side note I think these are fire, but that's just cause I love weird shoes like the AdifomQ, The Crazy Infinity, and the off-white Air Force Mids.

It’s interesting that ppl are so drawn to whatever everyone else likes that a truly polarising shoe like this gets them all rattled and afraid to wear them.

I love the colorway. The woven part is a little polarizing. Sometimes I look at the shoe and I’m like eh, but the other items I see it and I’m like that’s kinda hard. I copped off the union site and I’m very happy with it, I might actually try to double up and go for them on snkrs tomorrow. With yellow or teal laces… 😮‍💨

I love the fact the poll is split like that. When I first saw these I wasn’t immediately sold but I didn’t hate them. The more images I saw the less jarring the woven part looked to me and the more I could appreciate it all together instead of just zoning in on that. I actually really like these now. Completely understand the ratings though

I secured my size on the Union website yesterday. I like them and wanted them. I love the story and think it is a dope/different shoe! But I can’t lie, they did grow on me from the first images. At first I wasn’t feeling them.

I want these sneakers so bad and all the details are so kool, I feel like they would match anything I wear

The woven is the best Union hands down for me. I can think of so many ways I’m going to dress this up.

Just got my pair this week from Union, tbh these collaborators are trying to tell a story that means to them 1st then hopefully the consumer can relate and appreciate the story behind the design. In this particular release, they used premium materials + using the woven design from the Nike footscape. Personally i like them and will rock them.

These are fire as much as I hated them at first but 1 year later I gotta say those are heat ❤

I like the new white retro. White is so clean and i like the woven style.

I mean Maison Chateau Rouge collaboration on the Jordan 2 is still an amazing elevated pair form last year. Nike need to put more shine on lesser known fashion personalities and give them their chance instead of milking household names like they keep doing.

Have both Storm Blue and Black Toe Unions. Just copped these a few days ago. I like them. I think Nike forced the woven design on them because of the recent Footscapes dropping, but aside from that, I love the execution and the colors. Glad resale is near below retail. More pairs for everyone.

I actually like these better. Like the story, the footscape details, this is a dope shoe. The other pairs are dope too, but really no thought went into them. They just mixmatched some OG pairs. The main reason everyone like the first pairs is that their cut like the OG 1s!

Hi DJ I was curious about your thoughts on using wooden shoe trees. They’re recommended in all leather dress shoes but could they be beneficial for sneakers? My concern is that cedar shoe trees would dry out the inside of shoes.

I started off not liking this shoes but the more you talked the more i kinda started liking it tbh

i just got into shoes basically 4 days ago. i like these alot and luckily enough they are really cheap comparatively. i do like these better than the other ones. i like different stuff than most though. i just ordered the lava glow and volt jordan lows to give you an idea. that lava glow is simply sick. i like loud in your face colors though. i just ordered these off goat as well. my nex buy will be lost and founds. im also going to get a pair of what the paul dunks as well. ill laugh my ass off if the value of these skyrocket. then everyone will want them lol. this to me is a real collaboration. they truly came up w a unique and personal design. ill be keeping mine bnib for sure. it usually works out as no one likes something at first. then a yr or 2 later everyone all of a sudden loves it.

It is exhausting. But Union tries something new every chance they get so I’ll always have appreciation for them. This also makes Kanye’s run incredible. He was innovative and didn’t need to jump on the Jordan Legacy piggeyback to get his designs off the ground. Virgil also got the whole Vintage/deconstructed Meta going to this day and he’s not even alive anymore. Just not many innovators in todays space, but somehow everyone’s getting a collab though.

The embossed wings logo, the BBS looks like a bit more quality overall. Excited to get my pair in, love that they actually did something original with the 1

Compared to the Union 2's/AJKO those are examples of a collab just for the sake of a collab. But the storytelling and twist is what collars are for - something the brand wouldn't do by themselves

Didn't matter what shoe we wore, if they were dope people would shout them out!! I’m in on the shoe

I’m not a big fan of the union Jordan 1. The style of the shoe to me looks like a baseball with the massive stitching. Just my opinion.

Bought these early on sole steals for 380 watched my size sit for 30 min on union but idgaf got my girl her pair of elevate on union already have mine cause I actually like them and didn’t know how hard they were gonna be at release so still happy with my purchase but wish I was patient

Great and detailed review! I love this shoe. Im glad it was easy to hit on the Union site. The woven part is what I love most about this shoe. Without it, they would be so plain. Basically a Vibration of Naija (not a bad shoe, but pretty plain). I hope everyone who wants will cop.

Only if it didn't have that Braid, it would be so fire but I still somewhat like it because of the colors. I appreciate the homage to Black hair with the braid as it is a dope reference to hair stylists but....damn, it would be so clean without it.

I don’t hate it. However, they could have killed it with keeping the same concept as the OG’s and switching the colors. It could have been a NY to LA concept to represent their love. I also think a Royal and Chicago mash up would be the ultimate grail for a lot. Thing is if they repeated the concept 2 more color ways and stop. Jordan / Nike loves to beat a dead horse

If anything this is good for collaboration, add some unique twists to the shoe to make them recognizable, instead of just slapping the word brand name on a copy and paste shoe

Just to correct your history. Union was not founded by Chris Gibbs. The original is James Jebbia (Supreme) and Eddie Cruz (Undefeated). It was sold to Chris later in the years.

Colabs as a whole aren’t dead, Jordan Colabs are…. If it’s not a 1,3, or 4 it doesn’t have the same cashe. Jordan brand is only alive on Colabs and retros, if the wave keeps on trend we will see Jordan retros become outlet specials like the they did during the knit runner days.

The new collab is better. what's the point of a collab if you can barely tell the difference between it and the original versions? It doesn't make much sense to me. Might as well get the original. Hopefully too many people won't be interested in it so that the price can remain low.
