A day after over 100 Air India Express crew members reported sick, leaving passengers in a lurch, the airline took a significant step. It sacked protesting crew members, labelling their sick leave a pre-meditated move. As per reports, Air India Express issued termination letters to 30 crew members who reported in sick. In the letters, the airline stated that the cabin crew members reporting sick around the same time clearly indicated pre-meditated and concerted abstention from work without any justifiable reason. Before taking this step, the crew had expressed their concerns, alleging that they were being silenced by higher-ups for attempting to raise grievances. The union also highlighted issues of nepotism and remuneration. Here’s a ground report.

Years ago Singapore Airlines pilots did something similar. Lee Kwan Yu the then Prime Minister, threatened to shut the entire Airlines down and rebuild from scratch. The crew came running to the negotiating table.

😂they still think air india is under govt and they are govt employees. This is the best advantage of being a private company rather than govt company. Employees will be hired by their performance it's not like you passed a govt exam and eat for the rest of their lives

They aren't overpaid, as you think. It's nothing compared to that of all the Middle Eastern Airlines.
Imagine if Air India was still under govt. They wouldnt even have been fired cuz of this. Privatisation is important

Certainly, and I understand it's not the right approach by the staff, and to cause such a commotion.
Congratulate AI for sacking staff who were responsible for the present situation. Introduce a rule all and any staff creating a situation causing to cancel a flight will be terminated without benefits as a penalty for inconveniencing passengers.
The conduct of the crew is never acceptable and tolerable.Custumer (passenger) is the King in the service sector.

Why only 30? 300 switched off their mobile after calling in sick. So just 10% pay the price.

What high paying job are we talking about here? All of the Indian Airlines pay significantly, very less( only 1/5 th of other international carriers) than that of Airlines like Qatar, Emirates, Etihad, Fly Dubai, Air Arabia etc. Its not as highly paid as you think it is.
New technology no more human interface..upgradation of jobs ..the mode of jobs has changed....more technology based..
