Looks like the are in the process of building the new runway, from what I saw of the landing. The thing that really caught my eye is that there are no trees. To far north above the treeline.

The new airports in Nuuk and Ilulissat will open at the end of 2024. The new airports will be able to handle international flights from North America and other regions in Europe. There are no trees in Greenland due to the environment.

Than you very much for the very nice and informative picture´s!👍 A really beautiful view on Greenland from above! They seems to move forward with the construction of the new Airport.🙂 And very nice to see Nuuk during Summertime!🌞- Most videos are showing it Snow-covered during Wintertime.

Actually the current airport terminal building in Ilulissat is larger than the one in Nuuk as it was built at a later date. The City of Nuuk has completely outgrown its short runway and tiny terminal building hence the need for much larger facilities.

Too bad you didn’t happen to get a taxi driver who could speak some English. A lot of people, especially younger people, are able to carry on a full conversation in English. Nuuk is the capital city of Greenland 🇬🇱. More than one third of the population of 56,000 people in Greenland live in Nuuk. Latest count was 19,500. Population of Ilulissat is 4,600. Nice video of the approach to Nuuk by air. I hope you had a great time in my hometown. 😊

Almost 99% of people that I met in Nuuk, Ilulissat, and Kangerlussuaq speak some English. People there are so helpful and welcoming. Even those who did not speak English tried their best to communicate with me. Very nice people!

they don't have rideshare companies like Uber, Lyft in Greenland that you could take instead of a taxi? Are the days getting a little bit shorter there than when you first arrived during your first day in Greenland?

No rideshare companies in Greenland. The days are getting shorter now as we approach autumn.

Hello, did you have to pre book the taxi and did the taxi accept credit cards? If no credit cards, do they take USD or EUR?

You don’t need to prebook a taxi. They take credit cards or cash DKK. No USD and no EUR.

Nuuk is just so beautiful! My wife and I would love to move there with our three small children. But of course it is not easy. They say it is a very expensive place and.....well, employment, rent, @ new language....not easy....

Nuuk is a great city to raise a family. It is a modern city with all the necessary infrastructure. The majority of people there speak English. The rent is actually not that high if you compare it with other cities in Western Europe, Canada, and the USA. What I really loved most about Nuuk is the people there are so friendly and welcoming. The only issue is the weather in the winter, especially for those not used to brutal winter conditions.
