    do you get to pick where you get your duty station after you graduate and comission? What about picking your job? Does the airforce pick it for you?

  • @joshuaj_r

    You don't get to choose where you are stationed. And before you get assigned a job you get to make a "dream sheet" of all the jobs you'd like to have. After you go to FT (field training; cadets go in their sophomore year) you get a judged off a whole bunch of factors (GPA, AFOQT scores, commanders ranking, PT scores, and your performance in FT) to see what job you will get from your list. If you are qualified enough and are in good medical/physical shape you could have the opportunity to volunteer for a slot on a rated board (Which is any aviation related career, such as pilot, navigator, UAV pilot, etc). Or if you opt not to go/don't get the option to get rated you will have the opportunity to go to most other career fields. And remember, everything ultimately boils down to the needs of the Air Force, so you might not get your top choice of job. Hope this helped, and isn't too overwhelming lol. And if you have any more questions feel free to ask!

  • @joshuaj_r

    @joshuaj_r

    Жыл бұрын

    I'm not sure if it's possible to commission in to the reserves from AFROTC, but I do know that you can in Army ROTC. They also have some pretty good scholarships for officers who sign to comission into the reserves, so I'd definitely recommend looking into that.

    I’m thinking of doing rotc for my college and I’m just a little confused. If I do rotc for my four years of college then do I have to do 4 years of active duty after college? Like is that required or is there a way to just do it during college?

  • @notredameafrotcdetachment2527

    @notredameafrotcdetachment2527

    Hi there! Once you complete 4 years of ROTC, you are required to serve in the Air Force for at least 4 years post-graduation. It’s a great sense of job security and an opportunity to serve your country!

    If AFROTC is like Army ROTC, you can do ROTC for the first two years with out any commitment but after sophomore year you have to decide if you want to continue however if you decide to do this you are contracted and have to serve in the Air Force after college.

    After 4 years of ROTC Do you have to join the Air Force Or is it like JROTC Where you can just do it for the experience

  • @joshuaj_r

    @joshuaj_r

    Жыл бұрын

    You would need to commission into the air force. Cadets get to serve two years as a GMC (General Military Course) cadet where you basically do what you'd do in JROTC (Learn marches, military courtesies, etc) and then to be able to do the last two years of ROTC you'd need to sign a contract, making you a POC (Professional Officer Course) cadet. As a POC you'd be holding leadership positions in your detachment and teaching GMC cadets. Now it's different if you join ROTC and are awarded a scholarship, because you'd need to sign a contract to commission before you are able to get the scholarship. Hope this helps!

    @@Phoenix411th As long as your not as blind as a bat you'll be good to go for most careers. The only things you might not be able to qualify for are things like piloting or navigation (and even then, if your eyes are within certain requirements and can be corrected to 20/20 vision you could be eligible to be a pilot/navigator).

    can I join the ROTC at the age of 30?

  • @joshuaj_r

    @joshuaj_r

    Жыл бұрын

    Yes, you absolutely can. The maximum age to commission is 39. If you were hoping to be a pilot, you are unfortunately out of luck. The maximum age to become a pilot is 33, so you would've needed to be 29 at the time you join ROTC (this is assuming you need to do 4 years of college to earn your bachelors degree). Hope this helped, and feel free to shoot more questions if you have any.
