    Recently built a mini itx (tower 100) since I am always a "big fan" of the full or mid-tower where fans are top priorities. A 120mm aio was chocking my 5950x next to the Evga 3090 Ftw3. I always ran a 360 aio on any CPU I have. The 120mm aio is reaching 90*. Extremely bad, so I went back to air cool and picked this one up. My last long-term use air cooler was a D14 about 6 years ago. Man, this Nh D15 just cools my 5950x with 3090 next to it, throwing all the heat. I am getting a max temperature of 68.

    Great review for a great cooler. I think worth mentioning is how enormous this is. Not an issue for a test bench but a hassle to get it in a mid tower case as it's next to impossible to get your fingers in to reach the CPU and fan headers. The whole motherboard needs to come out first, then put in all the connections at the top of the motherboard, then cooler, then put back in the case. It's a great cooler but if I wasn't to switch out a case fan, I'm going to have to dismantle the whole machine.

    I just went through two aio systems. I first bought a Corsair and returned it because of the loud pump. I later purchased a Galahad II LCD infinity fan model because it has a lower pump rpm but I still get a ringing in my ear. I am thinking of just switching to a NH D15S for my 14900K. I don't care if I lose performance because my ears are just too sensitive to high pitch noises.

    I last used an air cooler about 12 years ago but since my MSI MAG Coreliquid 360R fell prey to the usual sediment buildup I've bought an NH D15 Chromax and although it is huge and slightly ugly it has allowed me to ditch the front radiator thus improving airflow and also freed me of some of the forest of wires. I've retained the ARGB fans and will repair the 360R and shove it in the cupboard as a possible backup.

    Does anybody have a cromax black d15 or a black d15s that they can post a video of with an outer Noctua black 120mm fan? Trying to see what it would look like? Also if I got a D15s and added another 120mm outer fan, would Vengeance Pro RBG fit underneath the 120mm fan? If not, what about if you move the fan up a little? If anybody could post a video of that as well, I’d greatly appreciate it. Also, I heard that the D15s has a little more offset than the D15, can someone please explain what that even means? last thing, has anybody heard anything about the new D15 that’s supposed to come out early next year?

    I have an aversion against liquid coolers. After purchasing a 13700K to replace a 10 years old PC, I froze when I saw so many people struggling with high temperatures, claiming air cooling wouldn´t be an alternative. Seems like this AIR COOLER is going to save the day. I just regret that the newer version is coming out this year (providing there aren´t any further delays), most likely with improvements. But I can´t wait. Also, this cooler is so big I will barely see all the bling on my motherboard. But I suppose that´s better than a molten CPU.

    Never understood the point of low noise adapter. If you plan to run fans that low than you don't need this cooler! - Just get a cheaper cooler since temps aren't important to your rig. ie, no overclock, etc... Also I'm confused about why people are so concerned about case-fan noise. Any GPU's fan will be louder than any case fan anyway! You can't even hear the case fans over the GPU fans.

  • @JbHomestead

    @JbHomestead

    You have no idea what you're talking about or never tried it before. What would you prefer? An 800rpm nhd15 gives you an average of 65* during gaming or a smaller cooler that runs at 1500rpm for maybe at 70* average? But by that comment, your pc is like crap if you can hear your case fan blasting. If you have a recent or good GPU, you would know that during load fan doesn't even spin until it gets to a higher temperature. Take it, for example. My 3090 ftw fan is set to auto. It will be at 0% fan speed (Does not spin,0 rpm) idle or even in some games that are not highly demanding, and its hooves at 35% fan speed on games like Far Cry 6, etc. That's barely hearable. There's also something called fan curve that you can use. If your pc is not dead silent when idle or doing regular activities like surfing the internet or watching youtube. Might want to do more research and invest in a few higher-end components.

    @@JbHomestead Thank you for your friendly comment... I have an AMD 6900XT, 5950X, NH-D15, and 5 NF-A12 case-fans... If overclocking the GPU than an effective fan-curve will always be louder than case-fans. GPU coolers are very loud when set properly for overclocks. Most people under-fan their cards and are loosing potential performance due to temp sensitive algorithms.

    @@rlwings Mine is overclocked (+180/+1000) and still seeing that 0% fan speed and hardly reach 40% during intense gaming on stock fan curve. Of course, it can still be fine-tuned and squeeze a little more on the overclocking part but too much time-consuming to gain a little bit of what I don't need atm. I was able to buy one of the 6900XT a few months back on the AMD website with their queue system just to try again with an AMD card. I sold it a few days later. It was a beast, but sadly the fan noise is too loud, and the coil whine at a higher rpm. You should try an Nvidia card. Dead silent. Even at 100% fan speed. My Dyson fan across the room is louder.

    My PC is silent, and I mean inaudible, under sustained load. Running 7950X with an RTX 4090 all air-cooled in a O11 Air mini mesh case. The trick is to tune power limits for the CPU and GPU and adjust fan curves so that you’re getting great performance and keeping components cool without the fans having to spin too hard (which creates the noise)
