This old cab over tractor is a work horse..... these trucks was made with quality and you could break out the tool box and repair it yourself... these day's if you don't have a computer handy.. it's pointless Great video bro👊
LOL!!!!! Glad to know I'm not the only one who is capable of forgetting to tighten something.
I live 40 min from 77s and 250. If I knew u needed a hose I would of brought you one out free of charge and helped you put it on. My family been trucking since the 70's and I love them cab overs. I was raised in the 80's and always did runs with my dad. Great memories brother. Be Safe
Good work Steve We had a 1980 international with a NTC400 Cummins in it. I used to carry a bucket load of spares with me when I drove it. Everything from springs, washers to cable ties. That thing never let me down . Old trucks don't ride as good as the new gear but they were easy to fix on the side of the road without computers and emission control systems and that truck would always got me home.

I think part of it is just like when cars and motorcycles went fuel injection and computer control their was a period of unreliability same with trucks give it time for the manufacturers to get it down and the new trucks will be just as reliable as the old ones
Bro: You asked (4:21) "Why do I have to put it ..." under the other hoses and down by the frame? Because you have to keep the new braid away from all those rubber hoses. It's like a hack saw vibrating 10,000/minute. Hope it all works. [I know I'm 2 weeks too late, but you asked. Really enjoy riding along on my sleepless nights. Don D, La Mesa, CA
Trucking, repairing and building cars. What more could you ask for. Thanks. Safe travel's.
Great channel love your videos 👍👍👍
Nice to see another cabover out here, still driving mine 32 years.
LOL, when working solo it's always an idea to double check your work, I have seen people do this before, you are not the first and you won't be the last as we are all human and capable of making the old silly mistake.
The joys of an owner driver repairs on the run
That price is not bad at all, especially since they came to pick up the original and delivered new one. That's pretty damn good
Good morning. Another awesome video ! Many safe travels for you my brother . I look forward to many more adventures with you .take care .
Lol I didn't even catch it watching you do the install...! I hope you cleaned up the puddle someone dumped before you pulled in...
Best trucking channel on youtube , things are not always rosie, things happen to everybody .
"that was here before I got here", repeat after me "don't kink the hose", good advice
If it wasn't for bad luck you wouldn't have any luck.! Tnx's for sharing keep smiling 🤗73
Never let the cab down with engine running! Shift lever can hang up while passing thru opening in tunnel if not careful dropping trans in gear, have personally had this happen on old cab overs.

This one is built differently. There isn't a huge hole in the floor for the shifter. It goes with the cab.

@@fsctrucking,finally ran across ya on the road. 41& k headed south. Stay safe bud.
Old School Truckin! Glad I found your channel!
Once again, thanks for keeping it real.
Now we get a previously on intro? Editing game is getting tight! Now that is service there. Very impressive.
Well at least you fixed it yourself. That’s better than most people!
Big Bunk Cabovers....as good as it gets. "Looks like my cab Jack leaked....no, that was there"😆👍
Oh my gosh does that starter motor ever sound SEXY when it cranks over that big cat....cat engines even sound sexy when they're shutting down..MMMMPH
Wow 🤩 I don’t miss them. Ca oversi. I’m glad 🙂 you got it. Fixed
I was saying how much you want a bet he forgets to tighten that compressor fitting I kept saying run it behind the hoses at compressor hook up I tried saying it over and over to help but you got it just took a little longer but at 19 * I couldn't think straight or get my ol bones moving lol but glad that's all it was so stay safe stay healthy stay rolling
In the uk we dump the air out the tanks to get any water condensation out regularly in winter bro saves the dryer Struggling ! Kind regards from England 🇬🇧✌️
Dang. You had to work on Orwell in cold weather and still took the time to video it so we could watch in the warmth of our homes. Thanks Steve.
13:50 We were screaming it out, but you couldn't hear us telling you to tighten it up😎 Before you leave, make sure to gather up all your tools and camera.
Good job, Steve. Life is learning. Safe travels.
GOOD job there Mr. Truck driver you make one heck of a mechanic I can't believe you forgot to Tighten the hose to the air compressor but you finally got it done. You get your " GOLD " Star ⭐ for today
Ah! Fixing trucks on the side of the road! The only thing missing is rain and darkness! Nothing ever broke on a warm dry day!
Good job Steve. Most owner operators don’t do nothing to there trucks. Not even change a headline.

Then they wonder why they fail after spending two weeks in a shop for a small repair... Then it still is broken so another two weeks... Making no money.
It was so good that you weren’t out on the highway when it final went out. Blessings happen all the time, brother. Good stuff and good service that you got from them. And you’re not in Wooster yet! Stay safe and warm.
Nothing sounds better than a old cat or Detroit 60 series engine....although that Cummins N-14 sounds great ..especially with the jakes turned to high cresting the top of a hill pulling something heavy...while going between 2 mountains...or in a tunnel..WHO'S WITH ME??
Oh the joys of running your own truck in the wintertime in the north & northeast. Never had to replace an air line but I did have to thaw out a lot of brake lines on drop & hook container trailers in the ports around NY / NJ area; I always carried a case of dry gas for that possibility. Changed my share of iced up fuel filters on the side of the highway too. And spent one long cold winter night broke down on the top of a mountain on a desolate stretch of old route 17 in upstate NY waiting for my brother to bring me a new turbo from the shop after mine blew out. Changing that out in my old cab over Brockway with a wind chill of around -8 degrees was all kinds of fun back in those days before computers & cell phones.
There is a wire and a heater on your air dryer it may not be working, mine went bad and I heated it with an hair dryer and boom up went the pressure. It maybe that.
funny as lol 😂 cracking up thank you for being human
No that was here before I get here 🤣🤣🤣
Good. To. See you steve. And orwell
Just love those old-school Peterbilt Cab over Retired diesel truck mechanic. We all get a brain fart once in a while I forget about something that’s life keep up the good videos. Well I have to take the truck for a spin Sunday
Where the new main discharge line is running on your fuel lines I always cut a piece of blue silicone heater hose and wrap it so it doesn’t rub thru on frame or on it self and ruin either the fuel or the discharge line. I work at a heavy duty repair shop and we always go that extra route for our customers to keep them rolling and on the road.. love Orwell my dad had almost same truck when I was growing up and I have plenty of good memories with him on the road..
Hey Steve love the channel! I have a 1987 362 just like yours with the same cab jack problem. I just bought new cab cylinders and jack for just over 1000 bucks. If your interested in new cab jack contact Ohio hydraulic. It was like 350.00 you'll need the part number for new jack to order, kind of odd system they have but I'll gladly help you out if you need it or want it
Rolling, rolling, rolling keep that truck a rolling. Nice job Steve.
Nice,work sir
Always one or two spare govenors
I see what you did so when I buy my truck know what to look for and how to make sure I don't have the same problem nice lesson
Everyone makes mistakes now and days but the super cold weather takes a toll on all big or small vehicles you do good to keep the cabover from dying on the highway you found a great spot to stop and see what when wrong you are fixing it where you can go back to work be safe out there Steve
Great job!
That’s great you were able to fix that on the fly
Good video My friend be safe
I''d have been stuck waiting on a tow truck lol. Good thing you know your stuff. It gets you out of a pickle and makes great content.
You forgot to do the old fashion soapy water spray bottle. Windex does the trick.
No hill to steep for a Stepper.. Orwell back on the road and blowing smoke. 👍
Sometimes all I need is 1% Meth to get me going as well 😂
That guy that did your hose seamed like a super cool cat nice that they got ya on the road fast and willing to have some help there for ya
C'mon, Steve! Don't you drain your air tank? That's where that ice comes from, ya know. :)
@FSC Speed shop Little tip with bottles like that Alky is just before tighten cap right up squeeze bottle so removes some air then tighten cap that way it's trying to draw in instead of any swelling making cap leak. "Everywhere"
No kidding Steve, when I was watching you putting that hose back,I've noticed that you had'nt tighten good that end of the hose, but I said to myself ,he must of done it off camera, but I was right then LOL !
Nice guy sweet jeep to
A simple yet frustrating repair for sure
There is always relative motion between engine and frame so any hose or wire that goes between the two needs soft but firm mounting points between the two to force it to flex and not rub.

I would've been shivering to hard to do that repair. Another great breakfast video.

Was not fun. My heated shop has spoiled me.
Luv your stuff, replace the cabjack tho. Mad Props
Don't feel bad!! I've forgot to tighten hoses...and worse in a lifetime of trucking and pulling wrenches!!
Awesome
We raced Jrs dragsters with my son what a good time we had
You might feel stupid but your diagnostic ability and film skills are A+.
Keep Orwell Going
They use Methyl Hydrate up north for air line deicer.. I had a pump and reservoir put on so all ya had to do was pump it about 7-8 times
Airplane parts? Ohh La La!
If engine layout designers had to work on them they would be a lot easier to work on !
Steve it happens to the best of us. You should think about putting a Alcohol can on Orwell. We used them on our fleet trucks for winter use.
Hi Steve, I think you need a little alcohol to warm up your blood in that 19
that line pulses as air is pumped from compressor , it can and will chaff through itself or anything it touches just cover it with pieces of heater hose in the problem areas, 35years as a truck mechanic have seen it many times
you might want to look into installing a saftey valve in the supply line, you were lucky it didnt blow the air compressor head gasket along with the hose, and if your air dryer pops off alot you need to fix that so your not making so much water and burning your air compressor,
Yeah the spring neck truck needs a lot of polishing
hello from hartford WI
I was just thinking that i did not see you tighten the first one down.....but maybe got edited out.
Looking you Repg canadian company on your 🔑 ring💯
lol, this reminds me of the time when I was younger, I had a 76 Camaro, the radiator developed a leak so I took it to a shop that sealed the hole. I put it back in filled the radiator back up and started the engine. I am sitting in my car preening like a peacock that I had fixed my radiator when I noticed I heard a strange noise, so I quickly turned the engine off and checked under the hood, low and behold I forgot to put the transmission cooler lines back on the radiator and the transmission had been pumping the transmission fluid onto the floor of my parents garage while I had been sitting there feeling smug.
13:50 Damn...Sometimes even the best forgets something....
What a conundrum so many ways and each with special rub sites to wear out a new hose! Cant you rig up a controller to be able to see you gages on a hand held module?
Keep some old hose and zip ties to cover where the hoses might rub against one another..
Also they make kevlar hose sheathing, which might be worth the cheap investment.
Oh the do da day...lol
South of Detroit on I 75 highway slick ice cars were sliding of the highway, low air pressure buzzer came on 60 lbs and dropping held both brake buttons in and in neutral let truck into an easy stop, jacked up cab and that night I learned air governor state trooper stopped told me not to park there, I told him in can't build air pressure, he became my knight in shining armor, I had the governor in my hand, he put a bunch of fussees out took me to a shop got the part, took me back to truck, he held flashlight stayed until I had air pressure, I drove to the same shop and spent the night, not my only good cop story, but this one fits right here, pull toy here
Can they deliver part
If anyone can fix something on the road it’s Steve!!
When I moved to the south in 2003, I was amazed that drivers down here never bled their air tanks. Definitely a no no when you’re up north in very cold weather. I actually bled a couple air tanks when I was refueling after my route, and a stream of water would come out. I just shook my head. I still haven’t had anybody from the south that can tell me what fog and 25 degrees gets ya. Ice fog. Roads are fine but watch the bridges and over passes.
It got to be careful with the routing you have to compensate and be aware of expansion contraction fraying rubbing body frame flex
I will be dipped. Now I'm gonna worry all day about how the rest of this day went for you hero! Now I'm not worried about you doin what I did but this is starting to look like the last week I ran my truck before I pulled the plates off. It was sold three weeks later. Get another video up so I can worry like a mother hen.
Zip ties are your friend on loose hoses.
Good thing you weren't in the toolies when that thing blew!
lol dont kink the hose dont kink the hos ......lol a air compressor governor limits the air pressure (if fault will create too much pressure for the truck to handle i.e. blow air hoses or tanks ya da ya da that $117 for a long a$$ air hose that's cheap i paid over $400 for a 3 foot hose @ 2 1/4 inch dia hydraulic hose so i could get unloaded over a grid at the port of Fremantle (export feed place) carrying 58 tons of alba lupins (the hgose was on the tri axle dolly which fell out of hydraulic connector on the lead trailer (i didn't connect it properly ) and got dragged
When I first started driving, I was just a steering wheel holder and had trouble with that. I left Ft. Worth, TX one afternoon in the first week of January , 1969 in my shirt sleeves but by the time I got to Muskogee, OK it was 5 degrees, continuing on by the time I got to Joplin, MO it was minus 8 degrees and my brakes froze up because of water in the lines (didn't have automatic air tank discharge back then nor pull chains on the discharge valve). I was driving a two story falcon which if you know trucks was not a very good truck besides being ugly as hell. So I sympathize with you having to thaw your brakes.
Degree weather.
Do a Shepard's hook at the compressor? I always thought that one should put a "plumbers wye " at the air compressor to pour in Methyl hydrate is it? Bad stuff to get on ones skin.
3406 clutch fans are a pain! not fan no need for cooling! KW had the switch in cab!, sort of stupid! Nice catch!
back when i first started driving i worked for an outfit that occasionally sent us up to Canada. i would always buy pure methanol when i was up there and sneak it back with me.
ya live ya lern
