I am not a believer but how a little girl like this can express emotions with such deepness ? The body is that of a child but the Soul is somebody else. That's a mystery to me. I mean, this is not just chance. If this alone is the proof that something beyond exists, I am ready to believe without hesitation. I am gonna wipe my tears for now.. How beautiful !!

Unfortunately the judges in the Chopin competition did not agree with you. Aimi was born in September 1995 and is now 24 years old. She gained much publicity ( especially on KZread ) all over the world when young for her brilliant piano playing and was around 11 years old when she played in the performance shown in this video. Aimi went to USA in 2013 when accepted as a student at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. Since then little has been heard of her apart from when she competed in the Chopin prize competition in 2015 where she made it to the last 10 to reach the grand final, unfortunately she did not figure in the top six final places. At 24 years old one would have thought she should have made it to be a well known international pianist , but seems like she has rather faded away from public performances for now. Perhaps she should have stayed in Japan rather than go to the Curtis, it was such a long way away from her family and friends in Japan for a young woman who is seemingly of a sensitive nature. On the other hand, Yuja Wang is a tough cookie who thrived when leaving China as a young woman of only 15 years old to study in USA at the very same Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. In March 2007, at the age of only 20, Wang's breakthrough came when she replaced Martha Argerich in concerts held in Boston. Argerich had cancelled her appearances with the Boston Symphony Orchestra on four subscription concerts from March 8 to 13. Wang performed Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 with Charles Dutoit conducting. So by the age of 21, Yuja Wang was already well on the way to becoming an internationally recognized concert pianist, giving recitals around the world.

The Russian people are very discriminating when it comes to classical music interpretation, especially from foreign interpreters, so the poured flowers, yelled bravos, clapping, enthusiasm from this wonderful and knoledgeable Russian audience is testimony that this little 11 years old girl "dearest Aimi" was amazing, Also @ 3:21 you'll see Vladimir Spivakov raising his eyebrows which I take it as a sign of admiration for this critical passage !.... the piano is her life, her passion , this young girl is a true phenomenon both technically and esp. musically !..This is a monumental talent !...

+Bernard Joannin Lovely comment by yourself. I think she did the wrong thing going to the Curtis institute, Aimi is a tender and sensitive girl and was it the right thing to do to be taken away from her parents and homeland of Japan and sent to USA ? She did not need to be instructed to play in a regimented way as in her recent displays. Hopefully when her training is finished she will re-emerge to become a major pianist worldwide.
