Aimi Kobayashi plays Chopin Impromptu #1 op.29
Aimi had a great succes after her concert in Russia. She played Mozart Piano Concert no.26 with Spivakov and his Virtuoso's Orchestra on 24th December 2006, Moscow. The audience gave her a standing ovation and for that she gave an unique performance of Chopin's 1st Impromptu.

I've never experienced more emotion hearing a piece of music than this - and I'm 73 years old. Thank you Aimi Kobayashi for the excellence. I watch & listen often and it is never diminished.

I am not a believer but how a little girl like this can express emotions with such deepness ? The body is that of a child but the Soul is somebody else. That's a mystery to me. I mean, this is not just chance. If this alone is the proof that something beyond exists, I am ready to believe without hesitation. I am gonna wipe my tears for now.. How beautiful !!

What a mature interpretation by such a young girl. She has a spotless technique, a hypnotizing sound, and perfect dramatic expressions. Well done, Aimi!!
Watching again - in 2020! I have followed Aimi's career since she was 11. She's an absolutely wonderful pianist, obviously she was born to do this.
At this age I had no talent but deep feelings for a little girl named Marcy. We should never underestimate children. And now Aimi is a mother! Thanks for sharing.
She is a child, yet she plays like a grown up, so much emotion, just like Artur Rubinstein, such beauty can only be reached when you put your soul into the piece, just feel...
何?この完成された解釈力! 目をつぶって聴いていると、ショパンコンクールで弾いていると言っても、誰も疑わない。 素晴らしい!
It's not that she is a genius, which she is, but that she is - in heart and mind- filled with the greater genius of Chopin. That inspiration gives her the power. Great work here!
Flabbergasted! Brava, Aimi! Beautiful performance that captures the essence of Chopin, magically.
This is one of the most favorite playing of op.29 for me.
The middle section is what brought this to the ethereal plane...such beauty brought chills of how such a young person understand the emotions of this at such a deep level. Not a prodigy, a miracle incarnate.
She just showed a moment of beauty a human can experience.
Heaven sent us Aimi. Thanks!

You are a perfect pianist Aimi, congratulations...
T o see that little girl playing Chopin so brilliantly goes straight to the heart. When she's playing it's like watching a seasoned performer but when the piece is ended and she gets up from the piano, she's just a sweet little thing. There's something magical about her and she has a great future ahead of her.
Dear Aimi you are the most talented young performer in the world!!! To play so penetrating and sincerely and soulful in your years it something unimaginable and incredible!!!!!! I wish you all the best!!! Greetings from Moldova!!!

I have never heard it played this beautifully. Incredible.
Beautiful! She clearly loves performing and puts everything into it.
This is impossible, top level at 11 years old. I'm listening this for the fifth time now and it's still hard to believe it's real
Watching her emotions brought me to tears. My God! I'm hooked on her. I can listen to her all day for the rest of my life. This is what music is supposed to be about. Auditory Genius!
This is sooo impressive, I am learning this song
This is amazing, especially for her age! On top of her great technique, she plays with her love and soul. Looooove this performance!!
Aimi can play piano like all of us...but that she has played longer than all of us.But she is a special person. She CAN play better than us,but to that, set yourself to a goal.Don't insult her or be jealous of her or stop playing piano or something.Set a goal for your self.AND GO AIMI!!!!!!
I love kobayashi pianist
Wow! Aimi was an astral plane playing this piece! And all the orchestra just stared as if levitated!
What an amazing talent! Bravo!
Magical! She feels it so deeply, and her technique is perfect!
This little girl is just perfect
Aimi: I have heard this piece many times before by many adult artists. Here you did it perfectly. The best. Not too slow. Not too fast. Perfect drama. And such a video treasure. Tam biet. -Pete

@chobeethaninov Thanks for your very kind comment. I would like to upload the whole concert as it was really huge success and Aimi was at the top of that, but I'm not able to do that because of copyright of Vladimir Spivakov and the Orchestra.

Beauty.
Great precision, accuracy, and technique! She sounds like a machine gun, hitting all the right notes in the right places. Technical perfection!
On a different level to any other competitor in the last Chopin Competition.Even at this age she has a maturity that transcends mere competitions.A true genius of the piano.

Unfortunately the judges in the Chopin competition did not agree with you. Aimi was born in September 1995 and is now 24 years old. She gained much publicity ( especially on KZread ) all over the world when young for her brilliant piano playing and was around 11 years old when she played in the performance shown in this video. Aimi went to USA in 2013 when accepted as a student at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. Since then little has been heard of her apart from when she competed in the Chopin prize competition in 2015 where she made it to the last 10 to reach the grand final, unfortunately she did not figure in the top six final places. At 24 years old one would have thought she should have made it to be a well known international pianist , but seems like she has rather faded away from public performances for now. Perhaps she should have stayed in Japan rather than go to the Curtis, it was such a long way away from her family and friends in Japan for a young woman who is seemingly of a sensitive nature. On the other hand, Yuja Wang is a tough cookie who thrived when leaving China as a young woman of only 15 years old to study in USA at the very same Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. In March 2007, at the age of only 20, Wang's breakthrough came when she replaced Martha Argerich in concerts held in Boston. Argerich had cancelled her appearances with the Boston Symphony Orchestra on four subscription concerts from March 8 to 13. Wang performed Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 with Charles Dutoit conducting. So by the age of 21, Yuja Wang was already well on the way to becoming an internationally recognized concert pianist, giving recitals around the world.

The Russian people are very discriminating when it comes to classical music interpretation, especially from foreign interpreters, so the poured flowers, yelled bravos, clapping, enthusiasm from this wonderful and knoledgeable Russian audience is testimony that this little 11 years old girl "dearest Aimi" was amazing, Also @ 3:21 you'll see Vladimir Spivakov raising his eyebrows which I take it as a sign of admiration for this critical passage !.... the piano is her life, her passion , this young girl is a true phenomenon both technically and esp. musically !..This is a monumental talent !...

+Bernard Joannin You are 110% correct. Russians are a culture of classic music & arts. They have it in their blood for centuries! Even children are taught love & appreciation of classic from birth. Sadly this is not found in USA, Australia, NZ, Africa, Canada etc cultures .

+Bernard Joannin Lovely comment by yourself. I think she did the wrong thing going to the Curtis institute, Aimi is a tender and sensitive girl and was it the right thing to do to be taken away from her parents and homeland of Japan and sent to USA ? She did not need to be instructed to play in a regimented way as in her recent displays. Hopefully when her training is finished she will re-emerge to become a major pianist worldwide.

Wonderful japanese pianist ~~i love this music the most
Such high-stepping horses, those hands. The fingers all lift from the knuckles in a manner that is hardly seen in her level of playing, it seems to me. It's not a complaint but a delight. Aimi's musical gifts are so compelling.

Невероятный талант, играть с трёх лет профессионально! Она не любит репетировать! И так блестяще исполнять! Это не ребёнок... это перерожденный кто-то... как не верить в реинкарнацию?!
impressive; so much expression. this girl is half in a trance when she plays.in direct contact with the spiritual world of music.
This is better than her Mozart concerto. Great performance.
She is a shaman possessed by the spirit of music.
