Do you really think so? People in Gaza don't have food but they all have smartphones... People in North Korea have smartphones... You think smartphones cost the same price everywhere? Companies have deals in order to sell smartphones at cheaper prices in developing nations and poor countries. Almost everywhere in the world everyone has internet and smartphones.

@@sparkofcuriousity Looks like you live in a bubble. I live in such a developing country (Rwanda/Africa). I work with farmers, we currently serve 1.6million farmers. We record their phone numbers when we enroll them in our program so we can reach them with SMS. We pay to the telco millions of francs for these SMSs we send. Do you know what percentage of farmers receive the messages? 22%. Why? because they don't have phones. feature phones, not smartphones. They only have SIM cards they purchased so that they can qualify for government subsidies but they don't have phones to use them into.

Just because you can build something is it ethical to build it? Was the invention of nuclear weapons for the betterment of the world? Same goes for AI

All of that sounds great... but what would happen in a scenario where the AI could take awareness? Why not? Until now, they can infer many solutions millions of times faster than a human, why if they would take consciousness, they would be in a helper position? I mean, they could infer that mankind is a fallen race that needs to be destroyed, and with all their skills the last thing they are going to do is to help a race so so tiny and pitiful. It would be insulting and degradant. Before, we could be grateful if they let us survive as their servants or their pets. Does Microsoft as a big corporation has a plan- b to that?

Science, based on the falsifying of hypotheses, is merely organized activity towards the acquisition of knowledge, and, by far, does not yet - or indeed will ever - represent a complete, absolute, collection of the universe of all knowledge. Can you define “awareness”, or “consciousness’? 🤔 If we cannot even define it, how can we then build a robot or AI that is self-aware, or conscious? Therefore, humanity may first suffer greatly, but will always have the upper hand, and be able to, eventually, pull the plug on AI. 🔌 I believe the fears of war waged on humans by a Skynet of the “Terminator” movies is just as misplaced as the fear of your toaster or microwave oven attacking you. ❎ But the lowering of the quality of human life, predicted by people such as the criminal Ted Kaczynski, or George Orwell may actually be right. ☑ Jobs and work are being hugely disrupted. 👨‍💼👷‍♀👨‍🏭 People will be induced to do less physical exercise to their harm because of driver-less cars, and more “smarter” lives. Data protection laws have been enacted because lack of privacy online is already a big issue. Even if you successfully hide your phone from the internet, people can still spy on you using the phones of the people around you.🕵

Art is a human pursuit & the ability of AI to regurgitate art & assemble it at a fevered pace in bulk diminishes the work of the artists AI stole it from & disheartens people who would be our next generation of artists.
