AI fuels surge in energy demand

We know our power grid is already strained. Now artificial intelligence is in the mix, too. Tech experts are getting more concerned about our grid being able to keep up. UC Berkeley business professor Dr. Olaf Groth joins CBS News Bay Area anchor Elizabeth Cook to discuss how companies plan to deal with the increased energy demand

As medical services weren't impersonal enough. You know that there will be an optimization weighting towards profitable procedures.

Datacenters are built only after careful planning of available energy vs expected load. Furthermore, for remote big datacenters, their rooftops, parking lot and adjacent farmlands area can support large amounts of solar power for onsite generation. Onsite generation actually *unloads* the grid. Any excess power generated would also support the local grid during those times of surplus. AI will actually end up fueling the expansion of the grid assuming continued increasing consumer, commercial, government and scientific interest in it. Ultimately, AI's growth will be limited by the amount of energy available to it. But maybe it can even figure more efficient methods for itself by then!

Not one graph to show change in energy usage - sad how the news is all talk with no substance

Just simply make a decision. Turn it on!. And or just turn it off.... The only thing left is just to stand there and not do anything. Is fight flight or free same with the grizzly bear when you are confronted with one

So our brains are doing more complex sophisticated thinking on the energy of a potato chip, but these massive data centers need power on the order of vast amounts of energy needed by huge office buildings? And evolutionists say our brains evolved by chance? Maybe by chance, we'll solve AI energy costs.
