Ahsoka Episode 7 BREAKDOWN - What did you think of this one...

Ойын-сауық

Ahsoka episode 7 reunited Ezra Sabine and Ahsoka together. My theory is that Ezra is possibly an illusion from the Great Mother's used to slow Ahsoka down and buy Thrawn more time.

The only gripe I have with this episode is Ezra not pressing Sabine to explain how she got there. I have a hard time believing he wouldn't question her on it and press for an answer.

I think Ashoka watching Anakins hologram messages hasn't happened in YEARS!! Once she found out he was Vader, she felt guilt & probably distanced her feelings & memories toward Clone Wars Anakin...It wasn't until after the events of this series that she felt that true connection to him again...Her playing those during training was her FINALLY being at peace of what happened to her master...it was a FANTASTIC subtle moment.

Because of that dialogue where Thrawn says he needs AGAIN the help of Nightsister greatmothers. Combined that with the fact that Thrawn said his numbers are smaller and the fact that the stormtroopers are not normal looking stormtroopers with the drawings on the armors and all, you have the theory that Thrawn used the greatmothers to replenish his numbers a little with a little magic.

I really believe you overthink Ezra, he's not magic or any decoy. Why would he be if they didn't know Ahsoka was coming at the time? Besides, Thrawn told Baylan to execute them BOTH. Meaning it's real Ezra. The answer is that Filoni and the writers room wanted Ezra back and had only one episode for Sabine to find him if they wanted to keep the pacing of the show. They knew it would look stupid but had little choice if they wanted Ezra in the show. The other option would be to make him Thrawn's prisoner but this idea also has problems and didn't fit their vision apparently.

When faced with Ahsoka who says, "I can help", Shin has a fight or flight crisis response. In seconds she is processing the fact that she suddenly feels alone and vulnerable (maybe for the first time in her life). She was just abandoned by her master (unless their separation is part of Baylan's plan), she has just joined sides with a force she doesn't yet trust (Thrawn and his troppers) and they are defeated and abandon her. This is very sudden change. Shin would no doubt be experiencing a level of shock, confusion and feel very vulnerable. Now, when Shin is suddenly alone facing Ahsoka, Sabine and Ezra, her fight/flight response effects her ability to think rationally (natural for any human being) and so her response is driven by the strongest motivator, her obvious fascination with "witchcraft". There was no way Shin would surrender to Ahsoka in that moment when considering the likely emotional context. Shin just suddenly, possibly unexpectedly, experienced a double dose of abandonment followed by defeat and loneliness against her foes. Running away was the most realistic choice for the character of Shin in that moment.

I mean, not really... Remember that the device that they gave her with "his last known location" (which in itself implies that they don't know for sure where he is exactly), that device got destroyed pretty much immediately... So she was going blind most of the way and they only found something because of the Howler and his sense of smell... There was probably some divine intervention (the force) that lead her to finding him, but it certainly wasn't their intel... Also, if Thrawn knew were Ezra was, then they would need to for sure add an explanation about why he hasn't killed him by now and what they have been doing all this time... Which we might get in the next episode, but seems unlikely given how much they need to answer already

So baylan we know nothing of his training know nothing of him except that he lived through order 66 and the dark times never got caught by darth vader who was on the hunt for Jedi and your telling me he is stronger then a Ashoka who is probably a lot stronger then she was in rebels so baylan if caught by darth vader could probably beat him and hold a candle to Luke skywalker in his prime yea no they underpowered her or overpowered baylan to a big level this is why I think Luke should show up but nope they hate the original trilogy characters sadly even though Luke skywalker is my favorite character and the most important one in the whole 6 movie sage

Sabine hearing Ahsoka has less to do with Sabine’s ability and more to do with the power level Ahsoka is at. Also saying she communicated back is a serious stretch I feel as she said she only felt a familiar presence, the presence of Ahsoka. She didn’t truly believe what she felt either as she still assumed Ahsoka was dead before actually seeing her again.

  • @sponsorthis

As far as Sabine and Ahsoka being able to communicate, it doesn't take a strong force user to hear another through the force if the other intended it. This is almost like saying Jedi can't use mind control because the people they are using it on are not force sensitive. Ahsoka is strong enough she could probably reach out and contact almost anyone, and allow them to return communication. Especially with her connection to the place between worlds.

This entire Disney SW canon is stupid and ridiculous. The destruction of SW has to be disneys intent at this point. They’ve gone too far down in the depths of illiberal agenda to go back. I perceive the Ahsoka reaching out to Sabine scene to be demonstrative of Ahsoka’s force proficiencies, rather than Sabines’. Sabine is able to receive messages but wasn’t able to commune back. Simply, Sabine was a receiver due to her force receptors (the force flows within everyone and everything) and that’s how Ahsoka was able to ascertain her presence and whereabouts. Even now I don’t think she’s written to be a proficient force wielder I think we’re just ultra sensitive to the possibility that’s what she will become and we all don’t want to see it. As of right of now though, we’re still safe 😅.

This may not have been the craziest episode but I don’t think it was that bad. I could give it like a 7/10. It was fine. I will say the separation of Baylon and Shin seemed a bit abrupt but I assume next week we’ll learn why Baylon did that. It was also kinda weird how much Sabine kept resisting to tell Ezra what is going on, or that he wasn’t press more on it. Maybe I had my expectations lower than everyone else but I really don’t think that’s it. I honestly liked a good handful and of things and moments in this episode. I get that with it being the second to last episode, some might have wanted more but it’s about what I expected being that the episodes are only about 40 mins long and they need to all unite do some stuff here and then it’ll basically be thrawn and everyone else going through hyperspace back to the main galaxy. Which will lead probably into the Dave Filoni movie or another show or season of something. I also agree to an extent with Ezra refusing the lightsaber but to be fair at first they were only against the tribal warriors type dudes and I’m sure after so long without the lightsaber he figured for that fight he could manage without and let Sabine use it being that she has made alterations to the lightsaber and she talked to him about her training. Maybe he figured it would be better for her to use it. I know in a way it felt possibly like another corny Disney move of having a jedi refuse to use the weapon. But to be fair at least in legends even Obi-Wan fought Tuscan Raiders without his lightsaber on occasion just for practice. Maybe Ezra figured the threat was better managed with Sabine having it while he used the force.

"This episode should’ve been all about Baylon and Shin." When it already mostly omitted the title character in the last one? That really wouldn't make much sense in the grand scheme of things, that would just be another sidelining Fett moment more or less. AT least the sub plots in this show are good enough to want more of them (thus far). That works in favor of the overall universe going forward; especially with a movie on the horizon. Honestly the best thing that could happen with the post release reality in 8, is Baylon finding his Siren and fading to black or dying in the process. Anything else and you leave too huge of shoes to fill, moving that plot line forward in the future. I doubt this show will get enough time in later seasons to truly get an audience used to a new actor playing that role. ( that took a while in a show like Spartacus' case) Which it never fully recovered enough for many.

Hmmm. What do you guys think about this for a prediction for episode 8 finale? It starts with Thrawn winning and the good guys all realize how screwed they are because they have no way to get off the planet now because no whales, or eye or Sion now. -It then cuts to Shin who has flashbacks of her past and trauma and why she trusted Baylon as her father/master figure and now she lost him so she’s thinking/edge of going psycho -Cuts to Baylon who is led to a temple. It can be the 4th gate to the Mortis God temple (where clues to where Abeloth lies maybe or some Easter eggs) and that this gate is linked to the world between worlds where Ezra, Sabine, Ahsoka, and either Shin or Baylon will go to get back to the galaxy. Most likely either Ezra or Baylon will be the sacrifice. -then it cuts to the new republic high senate (small meeting where Leia, Han, Chewie, Lando are on the call and no Luke because he’s doing his own thing rn) and Hera who talks about Thrawn potentially coming back. We also see Zeb again, who is at some distant Republic base, and sees a small herd of Pergil fly by and lightly smiles thinking about Ezra and how he might come back soon. then it goes back to Ahsoka’s group who follow Baylon’s trail. Baylon finds what he’s looking for, and Shin finds him at that point all broken and sad and angry and scared, and Baylon tells her to chill tf out and follow him through the Mortis gates back to the main galaxy to free Abeloth from the Maw. The gate requires the death of other force users which would be Ahsoka and Ezra and Sabine. Shin disagrees and is conflicted -Ahsoka’s group goes there and they all exchange resulting in Baylon realizing he screwed up and how evil Abeloth is, but now she has ways to taint another to come back. Shin joins Ahsoka, and Baylon sacrifices himself to let the good guys pass through the Peridia gate to Lothal. The good guys have their happy ending as Ezra thinks about Kanen and his time at Lothal in Rebels. -it goes back to the senate who start ridiculing Hera again and now Leia and Mon Mothma when they start talking about the remaining Imperial warlords and how not likely an Heir to the Empire existed when Palpatine died (his name may be mentioned too as the Emperor) only to be interrupted with an emergency distress call. -it pans to the distressed New Republic people and Zeb saying we need help asap or what the hell is going on the empire has opened fire on us! Zeb and a handful escapes on the way back to the Senate in person as the only survivors-And then a repaired and completely upgraded Night-Chimera jumping out of hyperspace joining a ton of star destroyers and then they open fire without mercy to a New republic base with Pergil flying by on their migration. It goes to Thrawn as he lightly smiles at the killed purgil and completely annihilating a whole fully garrisoned new republic fleet and base and the senate gets the news: Grand Admiral Thrawn has returned. The pan fades to black in silence. Thrawn’s theme plays for the credits instead of Ahsoka’s. The screen then says either “Ahsoka will return” or “Thrawn will return” What do you guys think? Far fetched but I think it’s cool

It brought depth and allowed the actors to engage in a variety of emotions plus it helped to tie in the three different scenes that needed to be advanced; the new republic, Thrawn and Ahsoka + Sabine + Ezra + Baylan + Shin....Star Wars has to expand how it presents its stories and this is how you do it

Balan is going back to the "beginning" to stop the cycle from ever starting. The first force user? Whatever Baylan is so cool. Uber powerful, calm, focused, disciplined and he knows how to control the dark side and use it along with the light. It's so cool when he does that power move when blades meets. The look on his face is "really you wanna try that shit" right before he shoves Ahsoka back 20 feet from the power behind his saber push. We need more background content on this guy. It's just a shame Ray S. passed on. Baylan will be hard to recast. You need a big strong, stoic mid-evil knight like actor.

I totally agree. i thought the conversation with Sabine & Ezra didn't go as far as it should have and felt a bit off. Ezra, using the force as he did on the planet for the l last decade, couldn't feel the mothers using it to find them at the same time Ahsoka was using the force to connect with Sabine? I thought it would have been logical for Ezra to feel they were being hunted and heard Ahsoka?

the reason I think sabine did not tell ezra everything about how she got to peridia: I think that sabine, thinking that ahsoka was dead did not want to do anything with the old galaxy. she just wanted to be with ezra (remember also it was mentioned a few episodes ago that after the death of all of her family ezra is the only person she feels that is family that is left) and she does not want to deal with the old galaxy. like baylan she wants to stay in this new galaxy (but for a different reason of course).

@@JinxLoveLetteryeah. That’s bs but it’s interesting writing. But realistically, if Luke is as strong as he’s being portrayed, then ahsoka should be equal or slightly ever so slightly superior to him, and baylan comes here and is superior to ahsoka. I could excuse the first fight because she was hurt, but she should have mopped the floor with baylan in the second fight, or at the least beat him.

Baylan's and Shin's split felt so contrived and sudden. We've had an Ahsoka ex machina Moment as well as a C3PO ex machina one. It's fun to see that everything seems to go exactly as Thrawn plays it. Still, I don't like the direction my boi Baylan's going. Oh and doesn't anyone see that this general dude is so obviously loyal to the Empire? If not, they've been sending some weird vibes with him.

I just wanna know how Ezra and Thrawn survived. Why did they introduce them and not explain about them in two whole episodes? Why is Ezra smiling so much as if he was not in a traumatic situation and exiled in a whole other galaxy for so long? Where was Thrawn and how did he not know where Ezra was but could send Sabine in the right direction to go find him? No emotional content or character development was brought into the last 2 episodes. That is why episode 6 and 7 were so disappointing honestly. I give episodes 6 and 7 a 5/10. Maybe someone could help me out and explain if Im missing something.

Personally, I believe that Thrawn never really saw Ezra as a big threat. But, since Sabine arrived and wanted to find Ezra, he saw this as an opportunity to potentially kill them both in one swift attempt in order to get rid of them for good. That's why he sent Baylan and Shin out to kill them, 2 people which he sees as threats/pawns themselves. Also, it gives him time to load all of the cargo in the ship, leaving 4 (eventually 5 with Ahsoka) of his potential threats behind, stranding them in that galaxy forever.

I think he is conserving his resources. She entered the graveyard where a Jedi can survive but regular plebs cannot (as we saw the one crash into the bones) so to continue the pursuit would be futile and dwindle his limited number of star fighters that he would needed to keep the ship engaged once it exited the graveyard which is what happened, they re-engaged once she exited the debris field.

"We are the ones who guard the power. We are the middle, the beginning, and the end." -Daughter of Mortis, S4 E12 of Rebels. Nobody is talking about this. This lines up perfectly with Baylan's goals. I think he seeks to undo time itself in the world between worlds. "Power, such as you've never dreamed" and "I seek the beginning". These lines from him seem to hint at the Mortis gods. I highly recommend rewatching that 2 episode arc before episode 8 (Rebels EP 12 and 13)
