Baptism is the first step so that the sinner enter into heavenly kingdom. Nobody expect the eternal life in heaven without the forgiveness of sin. As we are mortal beings, we can not go to heaven in where is no death. So, we need baptism which is the gift of God to be forgiven our sin.

We were angels in the heaven. But I came to Earth as a sinner. The only way to be forgiven for sin on earth is to keep the new covenant. I will keep the new covenant to the end of the world.
