I saw their second show when they came to Vancouver, on the Tuesday night. This, on the heels of seeing my favorite band ever, The Who, not long before. All I can tell you is that seeing The Hip was one of the most moving and ethereal experiences of my life. No one kept a dry eye. It was absolutely beyond magical. The sickest man in the room was the one with the greatest life in him. The connection between the fans in Rogers Arena and The Hip was completely mesmerizing. Nothing like that will ever come our way again. They wrote the soundtrack of our lives, and we were there to give thanks: Magic, pure magic.

This is one great performance. I wish this band was more popular here in the States. I remember when "Ahead By a Century" came out in 1994, though. I was 17 at the time and our local radio station started playing it. Then I heard nothing else from the group and I thought they'd broken up or something. Then when I went to Vancouver in 2016, I read an article about Downie and Tragically Hip. I was surprised to hear that they had remained intensely popular in Canada and I was saddened to hear abut Downie's illness. That the band never enjoyed mainstream success in the US is our loss.

This band means many things to many people. As a non Canuck, your band, and your country, is maginificant. Had the absolute privelage of seeing the hip in Manchester (UK) in 2009. Probably about 300 people there. Canadians, stop...take a deep breath. So few, I saw them about 6 rows in. There were alot of canucks that night in the UK. I want to add something else to the debate, that the themes, the pain, the love are universal themes. The hip touched many, many people outside of Canada.

The sickest man in the room was the one with the greatest life in him. The connection between the fans in Rogers Arena and The Hip was completely mesmerizing. Nothing like that will ever come our way again. They wrote the soundtrack of our lives, and we were there to give thanks: Magic, pure magic.

4 years late but totally agree lol. I revisit this video every so often because it makes me emotional and that riff is just so pleasant and meaningful!
Started watching this video with a smile, remembering Gord. 8 minutes later and I can't stop crying.

I second that! Thank you for sharing. Hands down the BEST version of this song I have ever heard!

Blessed we were as American border towns to intercept good ole Canadian airwaves!
He had already accepted his ending. More importantly, he acknowledged those that helped him get where he was, though his body was failing. Very impressive and painful at the same time. For those who have lost a loved one to cancer, God Bless. RIP Mom.
He performed it like all his other shows thats why they will be ahead by a century for life
While I am American, a majority of us will never understand how beautiful the Tragically Hip is, their lyrics, their 30 year friendship. It dumbfounds me every time, but then I just listen to them and the words I want to say come out in their song writing.

Last night I watched Long Time Running - embarrassingly, my first exposure to The Hip in my 59 years. Emotionally drained at its conclusion, my journey into their collective songbook is just beginning. Canada has a national treasure. Your love for them is without question.
On one of the hats he's wearing on this tour, Gord has the lyrics "No dress rehearsal, this is our life" written. My wife and I saw the August 12 show in Toronto. It was such a treat to introduce her to one of the greatest live acts I've ever seen.
Absolutely masterful Brilliant song and a great performance from the Hip
I love Hockey, the Hip and Beer and I'm American. God Bless You Gord...Live Strong.

What an awesome show....glad to have been able to be apart of the night....one of my favorite bands and great iconic canadians...we are all behind you Gord !! Tragically Hip forever !!
Such a powerful moment for fans of The Tragically Hip and Gord Downie. The 13 people who voted thumbs down on this have no soul.
I was at this same show with my 11 year old son. Suuuuuuuuch an incredible evening. There was so much love in the air and the energy was unbelievable. Literally the best live show in my life and I've been to hundreds of concerts. Unforgettable. Thanks for uploading.
Absolutely love this song and band simply Fantastic and Amazing we loss one of the GREATEST Performers and Human beings ever RIP GORDIE
Incredible. Half of this is the standing ovation. Gord, you never disappointed us.
Great band,great guitars,great drums,great Gord,thank you Tragically Hip.
I grew up in the 1000 Islands, Kingston was a second hometown for many of us upstate NYers. I cannot ever express so eloquently as Gord did the beauty and majesty of the land and people of Canada. Visit if you can. It will change your life.
RIP Gord...

Dedicated to my nephew in law today, RIP with Gord, hope you are jamming together in heaven. This song exemplifies my niece’s fiancé, gone far too soon. 🙏🏻💔✨🕯️
R.I.P. Gord, your music belongs to the ages now, for there, you'll never die.
what can you say? An otherworldly experience from front row center that night. Ive never felt a connection and such electricity between other fans and the band and their fans. pay the money to get to a show, who cares about the price or where you sit. get in the building and the question of it being "worth it" wont even come into your mind.

I've only been to ONE Hip show, in Chicago. My best friend is a huge fan, and he bought me a ticket and when they played, I got it. I was in awe of how they were there for the fans and how the fans were there for eachother. Thank you, Gord.
Not everyone can unite a third of its country's population. Thanks gord and the tragically hip for all you have done ❤
The Hip has always been one of my favorite bands, and I finally got to see them play a few years ago at the Fillmore in Detroit. I took my younger brother, Derek, with me that night. Derek never heard of the Tragically Hip before then, but he became a fan after that show. I feel very fortunate I got to see them play.
Watching this video for the first time ... enjoying the band as always ... and it just. hits. you. again. He's gone. I have no words.
My heart, today, is so FULL of YOU Gord Downie. Thank you for all of the music and all of your life and love. I miss you so much xxxxxx
Was at this show, and almost 5 years to the day I'm still choking up Miss ya Gord❤
Baker killed that opening riff. Chills right from the start
I could watch this over and over. In Gord We Trust ♥️🇨🇦🍁
it makes it all the more bittersweet when you realize that these are some of the last times gord himself will be in these cities. A man who made his life about Canada, going on one last cross-canada tour, seeing all the parts there are to see and being celebrated at every stop. i bet he has a tear knowing this in every city he's in, and lets every tear shed for him be worth just as much.
I knew it was going to happen, but it still hurts like crazy. Gord, you were a beautiful soul.
Thanks Gordie, it`s amazing how easily the sound of this band makes me see my whole life flashback. Truly one of a kind, in the fabric of my being. Beautiful. All of my love, fully completely.

Thanks for uploading this David! An appreciative fan from the U.S.A.
This is the last real Gord! He gave it all until the end but despite all of that, this is the last time I saw him as a reactive Gord. We are lucky to have this! You are ahead by a Century, Gord! You tilted my hand! This is our life! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We were camping in a group site the night of the concert and had it playing from every trailer. The whole campground did really. The park ranger came by and sang along with us for awhile. I've never seen a band unite a country the way you guys did. Love ya Gord
I've been to many shows, however this band exemplifies what EVERY band attempts to do and connect with the audience and beyond..Good Luck with that as Gord stood at the top of the mountain! RIP Amigo
Gord for PM R.I.P. Thank you for the music, the memories and for the friendship.
One of my fav Hip songs... RIP Gord your memory will live on in many hearts... 😔
Never forgot their roots.
Amazing band. Amazing tour. Their music will live on here in Canada forever!
Thanks guys, learning to play this right now and greatful for everything you have done! you'll always be close to our hearts.

Many thanks to all Canadians and my friend Bret for introducing me to these folks. To all of you posting these, thank you from South Dakota, couldn't get up for these shows, but now I'm just crying along and singing along and feeling blessed to have a connection with this magical group of Kingston lads. Thanks thanks thanks!
It almost felt like there was a massive feeling of appreciation and love in the audience itself after Gord stepped off the stage, really neat stuff.
I just came to know the Hip through Anne then watched the documentary and have to say Gord Downie was a class act and a helluva human being.
RIP Gord! You truly were ahead by a century!!!
Ahh... Wonderful. Buddy's gonna live forever..
I remember hearing this song live at the Saddledome over a dozen years ago as a teenager. The only time I've ever been moved to tears by a live performance. What a man, what a song, what a life.
Watching the last concert with my parents that night is when I became a fan and it didn't take long for The Hip to become my favorite band.
When the bridge is so damn good, you just keep rockin it. Love you Gordie!
That moment at 3:40 when he just takes in the adulation one last time, basks in it, is just heartbreaking.
The hip touched many, many people outside of Canada.
these guys are great the song says so much for us all xx
Best band to exist.
Amazing footage! Gord looks and sounds FANTASTIC. This wont be the last tour, I'm convinced. Thank you for this. And thank you Tragically Hip! We all love you Gord!

That would be ANNE with an E. This song is in every episode's opening credits, which are the most beautiful of any TV show I've ever seen.
This was the song that came out when I was 13 years old and introduced me to The Hip, so it's one of my favourites (Wheat Kings is the other one which I'll randomly bust out singing, at times). I was a social outcast and didn't feel good enough for anyone. The song spoke to me, as did the video, and in those days you had to wait for it to come up in the rotation on MuchMusic, not get it on demand on KZread. Love these guys. Love ya, Gord! Hope ya get to spend this remaining time focusing on yer other family, and not the 36 million of us, just enjoying the time you've got left with them... although I know the music-making will never completely stop.
love this song!!!!!

I was there and I was looking for this. Thanks David Hansen

No more final, final curtain of appreciation.
Forever in our hearts! Canadiana. RIP.
I don't know that I'll ever be over the loss of Gord. I was lucky enough to see The Hip in 2002 in San Francisco. I was about six feet from Gord. I've been to dozens if not hundreds of rock shows over the years, and I don't think I ever experienced a connection between a band and its audience like there was that night. I can't imagine how much stronger that connection was with a Canadian audience.
that's one hell of a capture.
no words, only love
Makes me proud to be Canadian, thank you Gord🇨🇦
Thank you gord and the guys
