AGV Tourmodular Helmet Review - New lightweight touring lid tested!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The AGV Tourmodular is the newest helmet in the lineup (at the time of this video release) and it's a more long-distance friendly alternative to the existing Sportmodular, hence the name. But does it have what it takes to be a successful touring flip-front helmet? In this video, I take you through the specs of the Tourmodular and how it performed over the last few months of wear.

    Hi!... Another great video! I bought this helmet two months ago and I'm very happy with it. It's my first modular helmet. It's not cheap, but you can't find it in a good price. Hi quality, very comfortable, easy to use and it has s good ventilation. It's a bit heavier than my former Shark Speed R, but it's not a big problem. A good point is the Insyde intercom system, totally integrated... And made by Cardo Systems. I'll be waiting for you review about it! See you!

    I like my Sport Modular, but I hate that my chin is constantly on the chin bar. I don't like that so many helmets are built for integrated SENA coms, but I like the Cardo, way better. So, I order it. Thanks for your review.

    Love mine excepting the helmet release from fully closed, it feels much lighter than my previous Schuberth. I have the sport modular and once it bedded in, the chin strap doesn’t feel like it’s choking me. My only, and it’s a bit of a big one, is the noise. I use noise reducing earplugs so I can still hear the comms but the wind noise above about 40mph is really bad. Other than that, I love the helmet. I would consider the new tour modular but may wait until there’s some deals on it.

    Nice review Tony seems a good contender for me! the small space maybe is ok for smaller heads and what tends to be female face so definitely a contender to try. Did you get any more info about the coms? although Cardo is it a basic one ( I would imagine as that tends to be the norm) but if one of the latest tech that wouldn't be a bad compromise! • @mancavemoto

    @mancavemoto

    Жыл бұрын

    Not necessarily, I see it thrown around as a comment by some reviewers, but I think its one of those myths that stick. Yes there is obviously a small join in the shell which could cause more wind noise, but alot of helmet noise comes from the wind passing underneath, and modular helmets tend to have much better seals around the neck. In my experience I don't think overall modulars are any noiser than standard full face helmets.

    A tough question to answer depending on the style, for a road style full face the Arai Quantic/Contour X is really good. This AGV is brilliant for a modular helmet. The Nexx W.WRL or Bell MX9 offer really good ventilation for peaked adventure style helmets

    i'd love to hear a direct comparison between the AGV Tourmodular and the new Shoei Neotec 3. my current lid is a Nexx XWED 2 - and i like it very much. however, i'd really like to try a modular as (i assume) it would be nice for gas stops, chatting with folks, , etc.. i can't find a local shop that carries the Tourmodular, so trying on will probably require ordering online and then returning (assuming i don't like). wish there were more places that carried a wider variety - most seem to have 2-3 brands and limited sizes.

  • @mancavemoto

    @mancavemoto

    I have ridden with it in the rain, and I didn’t experience any leaks. There’s a decent seal with the visor. Maybe its a issue they’ve dealt with on this helmet?

  • @ItsBeenDanBefore
    @ItsBeenDanBefore Жыл бұрын

    The biggest drawback on the Tour is the same with the Sport - the visor mech. There's no pullback on the visor when down, which means the visor seal will do next to nothing in rain. First time I used the Sport in the rain, it leaked horrendously and did every single time it rained after, even what can be described as mild drizzle, and it's the same with the E1. I sent back the Sport to the UK importers (via my work)and got a credit for it, because it rendered the helmet dangerous due to the Pinlock getting overwhelmed. Because of that, I cannot recommend anything without that pullback in the visor if you are a year round rider. I won't be going for another flip after my Schuberth E1 due to manufacturers constantly missing out on this, and the Neotec doesn't fit me well, so I'll be sticking with Arai, Shoei and the occasional Shark and HJC full faces for this reason

    I own one of these and to me is an overrated helmet, there are several cons to it. Ventilation: The top vent is great for sure, but not enough in summer, the front vents are useless especially if you own a bike with a windshield, what a touring bike will have for sure, is really hot in there. Fit: Overall it fits great, not too comfy, not too tight, until you ride for more than 1hr, and you start feeling an annoying and painful pressure in the top of your head, this is the worst. Noise: Noise levels are acceptable but not as quiet as they say, so wear earplugs all the time, especially at highway speeds. Cardo Insyde: as a communication system works smoothly, but, the bottoms are hard to identify with gloves, and the sound quality is the worst, really high pitch sound that ends up hurting your ears even wearing plugs, not sure if by upgrading the speakers to the JBL might help but really to me who enjoy listening music while riding is the worst experience, I will upgrade the speakers and let you know if actually improves. at this point when I feel I want to change to a different helmet, I regret having bought the integrated system, now I'm constrained to a helmet that I do not like.
