DAECHWITA 대취타 explained: It's a Korean traditional march music , is played when King or high officials visit, "or" to welcome important guest or oversea guests. It's played for army marching and trainings as well.

Fun fact Suga is actually related to the last empress of Korea so this really suits lol, as well as Rm Jin And V are descendants from different royal clans in Korea due to their last names, knowledge use it as you wish

Kryssy B it’s commonly believed that Yeoheung Mins are the the only Min clan in Korea, so yeah not exactly a direct relation but it means that all Mins are distantly related. It’s not wrong to say he’s of royal descent/blood hehe

I've seen a lot of reactors get really confused as to what happens in the end of the MV but you got the story right away! Suga confirmed in the behind the scenes video that the king represents the old Agust D from 4 years ago and the prisoner is the new Agust D who overthrows the king by making a pact with the butcher who is also the executioner. If you think about it, change and improvement is one of the main themes of a lot of his lyrics so it makes a lot of sense. Anyways, thanks for your reaction, it was very entertaining!

LOLOL so, I did some research to the best of my ability and I found that “Daechwita” is traditional music played for army marches/ war / or when a King leaves or enters the palace. I think it was made most prevalent in the Goryeo and Joseon Dynasty - which YOONGI is related to the last empress of the Joseon dynasty (from what we can identify) - Empress Myeongseong. ‬the literal definition for “Daechwita” would be “blow and strike” which is I think a literal description of the music itself and how it is played as the instruments consist of multiple types of horns, symbols, gongs, drums and ETC.

@@alyxskyler no, this is not true. Yoongi comes from the Yeoheung Min Clan which is the same clan that Empress Myeongseong came from. This doesn't mean he's directly related. There is an official register though with over 100,000 Koreans listed as belonging to the Yeoheung Min Clan and Yoongi is named as a person of interest. But there's no evidence they're directly related.

@@illuzanaerenduill he's not royal, but his clan is known for being extremely traditional, the Min was a powerful noble family back in time and they produced most of the Empresses and officials in the Joseon kingdom Yoongi is not a direct descendent of the Empresses Min, but his clan is noble

‘Daechwita’ is traditional song played when King arrive at Ceremony. So Yoongi = King. This MV also take place in Joseon Dynasty.

Actually, if we see the clothes he's wearing, he's not the king, but the prince. In his outfit there is a dragon of 4 fingers = prince. Usually if the dragon has 5 fingers is the king, 4 is the prince and if he has 3 fingers he is the grandson of the king

Sol Castro from the meaning of song I am sure he is king. The clothing is mix of traditional and modern Korean clothing. It is much lighter than traditional king outfit because it let him move during video and give more modern. You are think of traditional Chinese wear. This is Korea. The number of claw does not mean same in Korea and China. ‘Daechwita’ is song that play only during King. Why would he be prince if song about King? I am sorry for my English.

Min Yoongi / Suga is LITERALLY royalty. He is from the Yeoheung Min clan, one of the biggest royal clans in South Korea. He is related to Queen Wongyeong, Queen Inhyeon, Empress Myeongseong and Empress Sunmyeong.

He's not directly related. That's not how the clan system worked. Clans in Korea work similarly to Scottish/Irish Clans. Yoongi is a descendant of the clan and listed as a notable (because he's famous) member but there are literally 100,000 other Koreans listed on the same register. Clan members are, more often than not, Not directly related (nowadays). Way back when Goryeo was first founded? Maybe. But the more intermarriage and such comes in........they would have to trace the connection back SO far. For example, I'm clan Scott of Scotland. So is the famous poet Sir Walter Scott. But I'm not directly related to him.

It’s interesting coz I’ve seen many reaction videos to this and the other KZreadrs never understood the theme or the ending- killing the old self of materialism and worldly power and freed his new self (he says my time is worth more than money). But you guys got the meaning immediately so easily!! In fact in the beginning you can see that there rap lines are like a dialogue between the old and new self- each one is trying to one up the other, and it’s a (rap) battle of the wills.

Daechwita is the Korean traditional military music played when soldiers march. Suga sampled the sound of daechwita music in the beat of this song (the wind and percussion instruments) which is how it got its title and mv theme.
