    This is like some skynet stuff. 😆 These drones are cool as heck. Maybe, you can modify it to use hydrogen as a fuel source. They will be able to stay in the air much much longer. Maybe, in the future DJI can do something like that. That may be more complicated and more expensive, so we'll see.

    Small refinements to the trailer each time is good, gets better every time. Looking forward to each new iteration. An "evolution" video of the changes from the first to the current and possible future changes would be very cool and a video legacy log....a sheet of plexi between the operators and the craft, mounted to the railing, would help out on flying debris like broken props and parts.

    Man I wish I lived near you. I have the perfect plan for an automatic railing system that would service the drone side of the top trailer deck. It’s essentially a railing controlled by high speed electric actuators that woul bring the railing up during tank refills then would let down while the drone is landing. It would be a single button push and no more harness rig that your employees will certainly NOT DO when there is nobody looking. Lol

    What a nicely thought out operation. I’m sure you’re constantly tweeting it to improve efficiency, safety and reliability. I was wondering what type of work load do you need (acreage wise) to make this operation cost effective? I’m guessing the initial outlay for something on this level (trailer, tanks, generators, and drone) excluding man power and tow vehicle is approaching $50,000.

    Amazing setup. I would think at some point you would consider physical protection for the refiller - if something happened and those blades kicked on when he was between the blades his femoral artery would be in the wrong spot. This is really exciting to see the technology rolling out.

  • @kungfoochicken08

    @kungfoochicken08

    The blades are hard plastic and the drone detects a motor overload should the blade hit something. It would hurt to get hit, but I can’t see a scenario where a blade could case serious injury.

    That is probably very unlikely due to the numerous safety features. I'm pretty sure you have to click and hold a icon on the screen to launch. Plus if the radar detects something its another warning on the screen you have to click on. But all things considered, possibly they should make a rule to NOT turn it on until after removing the nozzle just for safety sake.

  • @rgrim7409
    @rgrim740910 ай бұрын

    Two questions. First, is the trailer set-up custom made for DJI and available for purchase or is that left to the option of the user? Second, as a retired airline pilot thinking of a retirement business using the T-40, ALL the safety concerns could be mitigated by detailed use of verbal checklists by a "second in command" crew member for all phases ala aircraft/airline required procedures. For a drone of this size FAA regs require an observer to be on site for a minimum crew of two, pilot and observer. A call and response checklist could be easily done.

    This is a trailer we've designed that is mostly for ideas for others, a farm show attention grabber and talking piece, as well as a key tool to our custom application teams. We are not building trailers for customers quite yet, but there are companies out there doing so! Oh, and we do have a checklist on each of our drones, as well as on each drone that leaves our repair shop!

    I'm still trying to understand the economics and the efficiency of this. It seems like you could get a field sprayed a lot cheaper and quicker with a traditional application with an aircraft or helicopter. It looks like it would take five to seven years of operation of the drones to get any kind of return on investment and by then you might have to replace the drones.

    It won't take off just by hitting the throttle. It's a touch screen icon to launch. Plus you have to touch and hold it a second or two. Seems like in another video, if the radar system detects anything it adds a pop up question when you tell it to launch that you have to click on as well. Something like "Obstacle Detected, are you sure you want to launch" seems like it beeps too. Numerous redundant safety features. Other DJI drones you have to pull both sticks down and in to fire up the motors. Requires two hands. Or click and hold the Lauch icon on the screen.

    Aggregator noise is just too loud. I've addressed this by building a soundproofing box around mine with adequate ventillation provided by two built-in fans starting automatically with the aggregator. At a minimum 1/2-inch rubber padding could be installed on top of deck which would eliminate a surprisingly large amount of direct sound radiating up, from below. Walking, even landing would also become more pleasant. You're welcome, drone operators :) Nice job otherwise.
