AGORA VANLIFE - HOW I CONNECTED THE STAND PIPE TO FUEL TANK JP HEATER VAN CONVERSION CITROEN RELAY

In my opinion this is the easiest and fastest way to connect your stand pipe to the diesel fuel tank of a Citroen Relay (Jumper), also would work on Fiat Ducato and Peugeot Boxer 2006 onwards.

With this mounting method, make sure that the tube in the diesel pump does not touch the float. From my own experience: because of this, the float got stuck and did not indicate the correct tank content. Result: stranded with an empty diesel tank.

I just fitted mine. I flatten top with a file so o ring can seal. I cut 20mm off the breather pipe. I drilled out to 5.5mm then screwed in the stand pipe. I then put a thick o ring and a copper washer onto the thread. I then slid a long 10mm socket down and tightened it with a pair of pliers. I have air tight seal inside and on top. I am not going to use epoxy unless I have to. I think the two o rings will do the trick. I also fitted non return valve at the stand pipe outlet.

@@alanmorris9598 how else can you reach the standpipe nut deep inside the breather tube? The only way I could was with the longest deep socket and by trimming about 12mm off the end of the breather pipe. The o rings are well beyond that so sealing is not affected.

For the final step..... Insert the breather. Then the standpipe, but don't screw it down. Apply Epoxy to the thread of the standpipe, *then* screw it in. This will ensure a good seal all around the breather as it squeezes the glue out of the thread. (Much less mess!) . Only then insert the rubber pipe.

Hi Garry, thanks for the appreciation, so far i did not encounter any issues, and i am using the heater on daily bases. No tank pressure loss, when i open the tank for refill i can hear the pressure coming out, no leaks, because the glue that i used creates an air tight seal. The initial plan was indeed to put a nut inside, but that proved to be very difficult with the tools that i have so i just used the glue, and as i said, no issues so far. But feel free to put a nut inside if you have the possibility, as it would definitely help. Have a great day!
