    This is the best tutorial for a soul grind I've seen so far. What you said about the position of your feet while jumping gets overlooked a lot and is very important. I've learned it the wrong way and I'm struggling to get it right now. It's so hard to clean up bad habits. My natural is right but my left foot is in the back when skating. Even if my souls are solid I tend to jump with my right foot first and not hit the obstacle at the exact same time. The difference is minimal but it's there. 4 years in blading and tons of soulgrinds but I'm still trying to get it right.

    Your are very good at explaining this. I just got my first pair of aggressive skates. I'm a marathon skater and been learning how to navigate through the skatepark with big wheel skates this far. I'm excited to try grind with my aggressive skates. Thx for all your help

    You are literally one of the best skate coaches or instructors. I have this trick on lock but to mirror other comments you explain how "it works" perfectly. It doesn't hurt you eat terrain like a snack.

    Aloha from Canada! Been watching this a bunch over the past few days and was able to get to an indoor park after work and put some time in. Your tip on turning into the ledge to lock in your soul worked like a charm! Got a bunch of nice ones to reg and to fakie. Keep the blade alive and keep making these awesome vids!

    What's the best advice to not overshoot the obstacle with your back foot. I find myself popping too high sometimes and going over. What kind of motion should I be visualing when jumping on the ledge/rail?

    I can get in but only move about a foot before coming of or stopping. Tried wax the crap out of the ledge but no good. Is it just more speed or better angle?

  • @joshacosta7986

    @joshacosta7986

    5 жыл бұрын

    Sounds like speed. Where do you look while grinding? Try and look towards the end of the obstacle. You will go... where you look. Try that and a bit more speed. Good luck!

    Hi, I have got the same problem. In the videos it sometimes looks as if the soul foot is leaning into the obstacle so that the contact area of the soulplate is actually reduced to a contact stripe at the edge of the plate. @Josh Acosta Could that bee true?

  • @joshacosta7986

    @joshacosta7986

    5 жыл бұрын

    @@cprtlsge yes the energy of your foot should be down and in to the ledge. Wax is a important factor too along with speed. Try dialing in the pressure of the feet and maybe sit back just slightly. If you lean back you go forward but it you lean forward you tend to slow down on the grind. I hope that helps! Cheers🙌

    Hi Acosta. I'm a begginner and I've been practicing stalling soul grinds. After practicing it for a while I feel pain at the edge of my soul plate foot. I think it's because I'm rolling my soulplate to much into the ledge. Maybe it hurts because I' m not use to the movement or load on my feet... Is this normal? Am I doing it wrong? I mean, when you stick your soulplate into the ledge, are you supposed to keep your foot flat or roll it into the ledge? Please I need to know. Thank you.
