I honestly really enjoyed seeing the super optimal gameplay. I love the fun games you guys play, but seeing two strong competitive lists with very optimal thinking you were expressing was super informative as to how both armies win games. I would enjoy seeing a mixture of these kind of games along with the fun off-meta ones.

We love to throw these in as often as possible. We always try to play at a high level, but we want ALL of the armies to have representation on our channel. I still personally think Seraphon needs to be toned back a bit. Over multiple channels, watching multiple matchups, it’s always the same thing. They just have too much, and some of the things they have almost no other army has. Was a good game though, good list and playing from both sides. Cheers

I know what you mean, but once you clear their screen units out of the way, they are forced into either screening their castle or taking objectives. I have struggled against my mates seraphon with my sylvaneth many times. But there are ways to hurt them, it just a bit of a longer game to do that.

They are very strong into multiple armies. They struggle into armies with ward saves (Nurgle, STD, Lumineth) and armies that can shut down their magic reliably (Lumineth again, Tzeentch, Nighthaunt, Fyreslayers and Khorne) That being said, that have a high win rate percentage in the tournament scene because of how stupid easy their battle tactics/grand strat can be and are very defensive. Gabe is correct though, if you can lift the screens and shut down some of the magic, their damage and scoring potential can dissapear very quickly. I would still say A/S tier though and need some points/rules adjustments. They will probably run amok until 4th addition though lol. Great battle report! Just getting into AoS and your battle reports are great for learning the game. Love the Sylvaneth paint scheme. Do you mind telling me how you did it? I’m starting out with Sylvaneth, but not too sure how to paint them. Thinking I might go with something similar to yours

The army I'm taking to LVO vs the army I'm currently painting. I feel like sylvaneth is the underdog if you look at the stats but I think Belthanos brings so much to the army now that I really can't choose a winner. No, because Kroak can see through the wildwood (>10wounds) and he can unbind anywhere on the tabletop

You are correct, it was a 13 :) Kroak would still have survived, I just mis-spoke :)

Man I'm still trying to find someone with the minerals to run a hardhitting (non-magic focused) Sylvaneth list - I know that's the accepted meta with the exploding trees, but NO ONE runs without the Warsong Rev???

Great battlereport! Just to keep in mind for the next one, if a unit redeploys, it cannot shoot later in that turn. Meaning that the Skinks that get a free redeploy cannot unleash hell later that turn. Didn't matter at all, I mean, it's shooting Skinks. 😂

I love high level AoS. It's like watching fencing. The Double turn is such a raw, powerful thing in this game, and it is incredible to watch players giving away double after double. That being said, the Seraphon casting castle is a special kind of skew list. A practice game like this really highlights how even competent lists can just bounce off everything it does. I think giving the faction such powerful casting then giving it another iteration of Magical Mayhem was a mistake.

The turning point was turn 4. I think Michael picked a perfect time to double, he picked his activations perfectly piling into Kroak. The Gladius was only 1 extra attack unfortunately. Had he done 1 more wound or if my bodyguard rolls were a bit worse. Kroak goes down, Durthu and the Hunters stay on the board and he outscores me. He played to score and did great. A double would have been devastating for him so he handed the turn in 2 and 3 giving him the highest probability to outscore me. Agreed regarding battle tactics for seraphon. They are too easy. Scoring 13 before primaries just wins games. Simple as that. This would categorize as a nightmare match up for Michael and we want him to be as prepared for adversity in Vegas as possible. You can see the dynamic change slightly when we are in kill mode :) He did great, and has a fighting chance if this ends up happening in pairings. His army is a mid board monster and scoring machine. I think he can definitely 4-1 or 5-0. Thanks for the well thought out comment, we really appreciate your presence in our community brother 💪

Love both lists, absolutely optimal. Belthanos gives Sylvaneth a whole new dimension, and a much moe interesting gameplay, imo. Seraphon is as busted as usual

Couldn't agree more! These are definitely two lists you might see at a tournament.

Sometimes I think my armies (Sylvaneth and Daughters) have good magic and then I see Kroak just puke mortals all over the board and soak up Durthu hits like they’re nothing. Cracked in half.

To be fair, durthu wiped almost a whole squad of temple guard and was very close to getting kroak. I rolled a 13 and he had suffered 4, so 3 more wounds and he would have been dead. Michael did everything right, but his assassination attempt failed :)

Hey Love the show and love seeing Sylvaneth played, on really high level of competitive level. Didn't see the use of "Nature Aetheric", this ability is just epic for making overgrown, especially vs strong casters. I prefer using vesperal gym for securing my magical dominans, but prob gonna make you too many drops for a GT. Keep up the good work and I'll be rooting for you.

Unfortunately, Michael and I are a 2 man team and another game system is too much for our production work load right now. While others are diving into Old World, we will be working toward more content for our 300 members and AoS players specifically. We want to be at the forefront of AoS 4 release later this year and want to focus all of our attention on our beloved. That being said, Old World looks very fun and we know a lot of other creators will be bringing some great stuff. Mountain Miniatures and Season of War are great channels to check out :)

Excellent battle report (except you are messing with my mind, David playing Michael's army and you have swapped sides of the table-definitely twilight zone/mirror universe stuff!). I hope LVO goes really well, you deserve some good dice rolls.

With the greenwood gladious as an artefact, durthu gets and additional d3 attacks with the big sword

He gets an additional attack for being within 9 of a tree or overgrown. He should have had 5 attacks after rolling a 1 for greenwood Gladius. So he rolled an additional dice in error :)

I did Cut my warsong for a Branchwych General savings Points. If she dies i get reprisal (Loosing grandstrat Hurts yes) and with the saved Up Points i still have my Lady of Vines as Warmaster. Potential 5+ Ward. 1 dryads Potential second unit summoned from the Lady. Tree revants durthu Belthanos 6 swords which i hope gets 2 Inch reach (50mm Base model) and i also Run a Arch revant to buff Belthanos and the swords. I Like Michaels Swap to vanguard raptors instead of tree rev but i need 3rd Battleline. Lady gives me extra Cast maybe you can try her Out Michael. Warsong should Drop in Points before i'll let him on my table again 😌

Thank you for the comment, Sylvaneth hung in there and played the game still kept it close but that mighty skink castle was just too much

Spoiler.... Turn 4 you struck and faded Belthanos too far imo. You should have had him on the the middle objective but 18" away from kroak. That way since you knew Durthu and maybe the Swords were dying you still had another hammer for the next turn and also harder for him to take the objective from you with skinks.

The Warsong is good, but has counters :) the only objective that was safe in turn 4 was the one he already had strong control over, any closer and he would have lost his ward from the star seer and taken some heat 🥵

The seraphon look so boring to play / play against…
