it's a fantastic game that helped me cope through an existential crisis during my childhood dayz but time and consequences have taught me never to preorder, definitely a must buy though and if the reviews end up being good then will go for that Premium/deluxe edition

I agree with the point you mentioned about avoiding the mistake Warcraft Reforged made. They tried to make it too realistic and forgot the fact they had a wonderful stylistic art design that simply shattered when they implemented those high definition models. So seeing Age of Mythology honor the original art design instead and simply improve on what was there to begin with + adding more is just the dream combo honestly. Excited to play it soon. Thanks for covering it.

I grew up with AoM, so I'm super happy that we're finally getting a remake and more content for it. However, a few years ago I pre-ordered WC3 Reforged, and since I refuse to pre-order. So I'm gonna wait for the reviews before buying Retold.

Same here. It's such a great game. Glad to see them doing it justice.

One more reason for why calling this retold and not definitive edition makes sense is that this runs on the AOE 3 DE engine while all the definitive editions they made so far run on a heavily improved version of the original engine iterations those games ran on back in the day.

I never even dared to hope the game would ever get more content after the titans expansion so I was so happy when it was “remastered” i thought that was going to be it but when this was announced it hit me in the feels. Can’t wait to relive a piece of my childhood, and I get to play with my brother and maybe even my dad when this comes out! But mostly I’m here for the campaign!

I will pre order the premium edition, because of the 15% discount I get for having AoM EE. Love the new graphics, think they will look even better in person without video compression. Also love that I get the original artwork of the gods with the premium edition.

Age of mythology retold: Pirate edition

I am hyped for this and it's not too far way now. It lands the day after my birthday! I preordered it and I like the visuals shown so far, quite a bit actually. I don't think I'll touch online, it's skirmish and campaign for me. Oh and it's nice to see that some of the myth units have been reinterpreted. The minotaurs are digitigrade now instead of having human legs and the Arguses(Argi?) are quite different. I love the new look of the Atlanteans' Fire Siphon.

I preordered on steam with the discount for premium edition by having EE. I had steam vouchers from my birthday so I didn’t even really pay for it. That being said I might also buy it on my Xbox. I absolutely loved this game growing up, I tend to go between my Xbox and Pc depending on if my partner is on the other

I pre-ordered the Premium edition for PC and will use a mouse and keyboard to play. I played the original when it first hit all those years ago, so I'm an oldtimer. I think it looks great and will play great. I have full faith in the team handling it. This is going to be a great RTS. I'll come back to it many times after its release, just like I did for the original game and then the HD remaster. In the long ago.

Age of Mythology was the first game I ever played. I first saw my father playing it, and he had hydras, and because I was a big fan of dinosaurs, I found it so awesome that you could control carnivorous sauropods. Then I discovered the rest of the game

I loved playing this as a child so im def excited to play this. One thing that concerns me however, is this talk of god packs, portrait packs, expansions, etc. I just hope it wont become a cash grab filled with micro transactions

Big question for me as a mapper : Can we bring back old scenarios and convert them to the new engine ? At least the triggers etc... will work ? :(

I hope so. I know that since the game is in a new engine it may not be compatible. Not 100% sure.

I prefer the original UI much more, this one takes too much space. I hope there's an option to switch back to the old one.

They will add them in the coming expansions it sounds like.

Pretty happy with aoe4 just wish they would fix the ai, I play on absurd with my friend 3v3s and sometimes only 2 of the ai’s actually build and produce units

I loved AOM when it first came out. Managed to get the collectors edition. I already preordered the premium edition on steam. Only thing I’m concerned about is how difficult it will be to mod. Apparently retold is using a modified version of the aoe3 de engine, which is apparently very hard to mod. Aoe4 is apparently worse. Hopefully we won’t have to wait 12 years for a blender model exporter (that’s how long it took for a proper exporter for AOM to appear)

This is a little bit off-topic, but I wonder if any of you guys can help me out: I have an intel i5 PC, 2.9 Ghz processor and 8 GB RAM. It's fine for work, but for steam it's just not enough, so all the time I see very cool games like this one on steam I can't play them since they require stronger PCs. Do you guys have any recommendations? Is intel i7 enough or should I just go straight to intel i9 or some other equivalent?

You most likely need more GPU then CPU

I think the CPU is the least of your problem here, go from 8 GB RAM to 16 GB RAM and eventually upgrade your GPU. Otherwise if you want also to change your CPU, i7 is enough compared to i9.

You can use a keyboard/mouse on Xbox for this game.

I Hope that the second civ is either the hindi or persian, both a tich and ancient that also fit on the theme of mythologies

AOE III DE in my opinion is better than the original AOE III.

Why don't they call it AOM 2 instead of AOM retold ? is it going to be the same game with better graphics ?

I hope they improve the AI back to its 2001 level. Current Steam one is incredibly dumb.

Atlanteans are part of the base game. The Chinese pantheon will be Expansion 1, Expansion 2 will be announced later

I belive they will support the game long term similar to how they do The Definitive Editions of the Age of Empire Games.
