It could look so good, if they would've chosen a more realistic and detailed artstyle. This looks like pre Alpha footage.

clearly not an artstyle problem. just lack of overall polishment I think the artstyle itself fits the game pretty well, and has a pretty great clarity and color coding (which is essential for any potential esports). Also, the ship vs water interaction and particles are pretty lackluster.

I think it fits very well. If it had a more realistic artstile it would look very bad in 4years...

They did it! They failed to -beat- equal the details of a 16 years old game!

Well this just took the wind out of my sails

Gotta love after all this time zero effort has been put into actually improving things like immersion and graphics. Of course graphics isnt everything but it looks almost identical to age 3 and so cartoony. Doesnt appear to be any weight behind the models. Just sprites shooting arrows at each other until the health bar hits zero.

In my opinion it looks worse than Age3. It's really plain and washed out colors make it look rather boring. I don't see an improvement (except resolution)...

the thing is i dont even care about graphics, for me , Rise of Nations 2 D graphics are perfect but damn why they never think of something new or bigger? The power they put into graphics ( and they are not much better than AoE3 as you said) they could put into more civilizations, EACH unit and building unique to their culture ( not only 2-3 unique units) and soundtracks and maybe a global map where you can also do politics ( like crusader kings 2 for example )

AOE 3 DE has more good water and ships.. why? For 60€ .. let's to have good job , please !

Well, it looks shit... a few years behind the curve. Even Starcraft 2 looks way better.

Looks like I'll stay on AOEII DE 🤦‍♂️ We are in 2021 guys... It look like a game made in the mid/late 2000's ( remember that AoE III was published in 2005). Empty ships, c'mon!

Holy hell this looks just, to cartoony, why is everyone choosing this artstyle nowadays. as much as i want to love it, i simply can not with this artstyle.

Fun fact: aoe 4 was made ten years ago but ceo Satya forgot to launch it

idk that just doesnt look promising :/ The ships look so empty and without soul. Even Aoe3 did a better job

Why does red alerts 3 graphics look 10x better than this. Even the water in red alert 3 is still holding up for it’s time!

I want some thing that is like Total War Rome 2 mixed with AOE2 and Worldbox God simulator.

Can't believe the ridiculous hate and comments this game is getting. Same thing happen to Relics other game Dawn of War 3, which was also a fun game. I'm at the point where I'm wondering if RTS players are just complete man-babies, or if most of these comments are just paid shills.
