While the newer one isn't bereft of virtues (the show of a firing line at 0:52 and the charge at 0:42, at least in my opinion), the older version remains superior. The mood and aesthetics clearly outshine the 'definitive' version, which tries to compete with raw graphical grunt, failing to do so.

Agree, the new intro looks more cartoony while the old one fits better for an approximate 17th century war context

i slight prefer the orignal and boy does that train look like bad cgi in the new version, it just moves wrong, i also think native american bit in the first looked better.

Agree, I also think that the original intro looks much better than the new one. The Forest Prowler in the original version looks much better, the Forest Prowler in the DE looks somewhat "shining" to me, when he has to use his stealth skills to attack the enemies. In addition, the fights in the DE version looks a bit messy for me, you can see that they switched the team in some screens, which makes the fight somewhat "confused". For instance, the French commander orders his men to fire the cannon to the British and a British Musketeer can be seen hiding from the explosion in the original intro, but the British Musketeer hiding from his team's attack in the DE intro???

The models themselves don't look better but the original makes heavy use of muted colors, shadows, blur and filters to hide a lot of the imperfections. But I think that also helps a war game. The clear bright colors of the new version just look a tiny bit too cartoony.
