The "grave" part always hits differently.

when she says "the roses i laid on your grave" that line really hits you because its implied throughout the song that someone left her but its not clear until then that thats how they left great job atc very powerful stuff

Legit when she said she'd lay roses on his grave my reaction went from happily listening to the song to screaming 'WHAAAAT!?!?'. Major plot twist omd chrissy why u wanna give me tears.

I love the personal crisis I have hearing this song, trying to figure out if it's a metaphorical grave or not bc she is obviously mad the guy didn't show up but also it's like he's dead to her. English class did not prepare me for this.

I don't think it's a metaphorical grave. If it was a metaphorical grave and she was still mad at him, she probably wouldn't be leaving roses on it. The song sets you up to think she's mad at him for not coming home, but then the final verse reveals that he didn't come home because he had died. She's not mad at him for not coming home, she's sad because he can't come home. That said, English was never my strongest subject in school either, so it's possible for either interpretation to be valid.

It's incredible how they made everyone think they broke up to suddenly reveal that he died. Awesome plot twist, I wasn't ready for that

The line "I miss the long nights under street lights" hits different in quarantine. And "the roses I laid on your grave" very sad line.

It speaks for me too, I used to go to extra classes with my best friends back in grade 9, it was around 8 PM when we got out of the class and we cycled along the streets, chatting and dreaming under the yellow street lights, now it's all gone, I'm in high school now and it sucks, people are fake, their emotions are fake

DuWOD I can somehow relate to the lyrics or parts of them. I once fell in love with a girl and she also fell in love with me (I thought). We met a lot, did so many amazing things together. But at some point she said, _"I'm not ready for a new relationship, I'm sorry."_ and then she blocked every contact to me. I've never had the chance to tell her that I'm sorry if I had misinterpreted her feelings. And I miss the time with her. I miss it so much and it's been almost a year now and I can't do anything. I know she's not dead but to me it feels like she is and I have to handle the situation like if she was :(

Man every single time I listen to this album I fall more in love with the band. That's saying something seeing as how I have been a fan for over 3 years.

When I first listened to this song, I was all happy and nodding, and then I heard "grave" and my mood changed immediately.

I love this song and band so much. Coming back here after years.

this song is so distinctly 2016 that it takes me back to that time whenever i listen to this. i miss 2016 so much

So after listening to the band's entire catalog countless times, I am fully convinced that this is their Magnum opus, their bohemian rhapsody if you will. easily one of the best, well-written songs of 2016, maybe of the last decade

they had me in the first half not gonna lie. then i just broke down in the other half.
