I don't know why I feel such a sense of pride watching this being done in Trinidad. I guess as a Caribbean man, the quality of acting, the message they hope to send, and the on-point cultural factors they displayed made me appreciate it! Well done guys!

it made me deeply sick that gregory was ready to kill a man instead of getting him medical attention. it's amazing how deeply religious people can spawn so many folks who have no conception of DECENCY. religion does not equal just plain ole DECENCY like calling for help if you accidentally hurt someone. and the joke of it all is that james would have moved heaven and earth for gregory.

I very recently watched the episodes of this film and I was deadly amazed! So BEAUTIFUL the story is! Congratulations, standing ovations then for the film director who dared shooting a film, on this beautiful island of the Caribbean Lesser Antilles named Trinidad and Tobago which is, like many other Caribbean islands, a highly homophobic place, about the topic of the “the Love that dare not speak its name!” How pretty wonderful were the main characters who performed like professional Hollywood stars! Greg (the Eromenos), James (the Erastes), Granny, Dave were top, wicked!!! The bravery of the characters to have accepted playing this NATURAL behaviour (considered to be mainly controversial) deserves to be acclaimed as it is a lesson to every human being on earth to have in mind the peaceful thought of LIVE AND LET LIVE our profound nature and soul so long no harm is done to oneself and more specifically to no-one. “Pleasure, pleasure, pleasure, what else should bring one anywhere!” The line I did enjoy to the utmost is the one from Greg. “What do you want from me James? Seriously! I am 18, I am poor and I have nothing! So what, what could you possibly want from me?” The young man is obviously struggling with the passionate affection of the elder, but that tells me and should tell all of us that we should constantly bear in mind that LOVE SHOULD NOT AND MUST NOT BASICALLY AND IN PRINCIPLES HAVE any BARRIERS and TABOOS!!!

it wasn't the *gay life* that killed james. it was a young man who was surrounded by criminality who allowed his friend to talk him into doing the wrong thing that will probably haunt him for all of his life. if screwing a man bothered him then, KILLING a man will probably send him into a downward spiral.

This movie just blew me away; considering the profession Caleb wanted to originally do, then at some point revised it, before completely taking it in a totally different 90° Degree turn in the opposite direction. It was definitely unnerving and shocking in the direction it took. It also ultimately sends the message some people born on the wrong side of the tracks can never live up to higher social classes of etiquette. You were just naturally meant to be the bad seed.....hence a life of crime or a stigma that you make your own simply by choice.

@@Pooquie1 why? the movie highlights a reoccurring problem with young men born in poverty: when you only rely upon the people in your immediate circle, you learn a limited amount about the world. often, a young man needs someone in his life who has already made it so he can discern what's possible. take gregory's best friend, dev. dev doesn't want much out of life so there's no way he can encourage gregory to seek out more besides screwing every random female who happens his way. and what about the fact that dev immediately wanted to dispose of james body instead of getting him immediate care. dev has limited possibility beyond the island so what does he care about gregory escaping? james could have opened a whole new world of possibility for gregory, but gregory at his core is COWARDLY. any person afraid to look in the mirror and recognize who and what he is cannot attain what he has never had. i don't hate that i saw this movie, but it left me with so much sadness because although this is a fictional tale, there are so many other young men on islands all over the world who will never be more than what they are because they have adopted fear as a coping mechanism instead of being brave and bold and not afraid of who they are and who they are not. james wanted to give gregory the world, but all gregory wanted to be was LIMITED. and frankly, gregory was already LIMITED in a thousand different ways. there's always a price to be paid for looking a gift horse in the mouth or spurning a golden opportunity when it lands in your lap. being a promising young man and being a SMART young man are two different entities. gregory was not smart in so many different ways.

A really fine and sensitive presentation of the deep, complex and paiful psychological process, that every gay man has to transpire in order to cristalize into his own real self. Misrable are those who evade this torturing and hardly overcome, self inflicted shame & blame feelings. They only left with their shadow self, borrowed from external pressures, alien to their inner truth being... They never would taste the sweetness of being at peace with your inner self, and the nectar of authentic Love that may arise from a heart ♥ that learned to accept and to love himself first... A surge of Life impulse... That carry you to eternity... James is doing Greg a lifetime favour, by facilitating him into revealing the so compulsively & fearfully hidden, and the only one he can ever really become, Self... True Love is ever constructive... Both actors are a delicacy for eyes and soul...

I just watched this movie on Hulu last week. It was a good movie... in order to appreciate the Jab Jab scene you have to look that festival up....very powerful....it is in Trinidad and Tobago.....although I noted at the end...I believe it was a christian organization that made the movie if I'm not mistaken....or supported the making of it...which kind of took away from it for me.

SPOILER: DON'T READ THIS COMMENT IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE MOVIE. I HAVE A QUESTION BUT IT WILL SPOIL IT FOR YOU. Has anybody who has seen the movie can tell me about the ending. I have seen it and want to know if Greg and Dev went to the waterfall to clear their sins or was it suicide. The director said that this was inspired by a suicide of a young boy who loved an older man and was going to be outed and said that she wanted not only to address that but show the broader issues. I would like to know of someone else's interpretation of that last scene.

if you pay close attention at the beginning, dev jokes to the grandmother that he had taken gregory there before to be cleansed of his sins. still, there wasn't enough water to cleanse the blood of taking a life of an innocent man who gregory lured to his death. and the sad part, james was probably just unconscious and after he received medical attention, he would have moved heave and earth to absolve gregory because he loved him. but gregory had no conception of love from a man.

This is a prime example of why I have this thing about age and relationships... the young man rather he is fighting with his true feelings or not he said the man was making him uncomfortable but his old ass response was “you’re not the only one who got something to lose”... THATS NOT THIS YOUNG MAN PROBLEM WTF... YOURE MAKING HIM UNCOMFORTABLE

all of gregory's role models were either criminals or just folks living for the moment like dev. gregory's grandmother would die if she knew her grandson helped to kill a man who could have enabled their family to PROSPER.

james is sexy af and he should have left the ghetto life in the ghetto. you can't turn a sow's ear into a silk purse. people have to want to do better in their lives and recognize how to appreciate a blessing in disguise. the grandmother tried to tell gregory that blessings often come in a manner least expected.

    我覺得印度人大部分不好看,不過這位千里達籍印度乾爹很帥。有相當多的男人為了冒充異性戀利用婚姻隱瞞真實性取向。尤其只要他們沒有那種女裡女氣的行為。
