After the largest snow storm i've seen in years, I head out with a pulk sled for the first time. Using a new tarp configuration I try to stay warm and try not to break any more fingers. enjoy.

did my first backing pack trip last night, made a ton of mistakes. biggest one was not having semi-decent winter gear. i was pretty miserable trying to sleep, and it only got down to about 28 degrees. that and also having about 40lb total pack weight, it was a short overnight, about 9 miles total and by the end i was feeling every ounce of that pack. gotta make some major adjustments. your videos help a beginner a ton, keep it up!

I'm over IPAs. Good full lagers and ales now. You asked for tips lol. Think puffy. Oversized boots with added foam insole. Bag your foot to keep socks and boot dry. Sleep with your inner boot liner. Bring booties suitable for snow at camp. Put the closed cell pad on top. Overlayering will keep hands and feet warmer. Base layers are key. 3 and you can pee outside your tent at night in a second. Layers must fit over the previous one loosely especially down vests and jackets. Buy an XXL jacket and windbreaker to fit over 7 layers. Great video Bryce. Cool tarp pitch. You kept the camera working!

The pink is a great color for a number of reasons, such as easy to see out of the corner of your eye, easy to find in low light (because it probably stands out from the rest if your gear), it's a great reminder of your feminine energy and why you connect with nature in the first place, and your ego-based buddies won't steal it. ;)

Fun outing! Tarps are awesome. Digging that sweater too. I’ve started to use alpaca wool socks when sleeping in the cold. Picked up a pair from Apple Hill alpaca farm here in NC. They’ve definitely helped keep my toes warm.

Bor'-e-al. ☺ Nice job on the firewood. I like the pulk idea. I'll probably buy or make on after my hot tent comes in. Will help to get the beer out there as long as the terrain allows for it. Try some vapor barrier socks under your regular socks. I got some from Warmlite years ago and they only recently wore to the point that they needed to be replaced. Bread bags under socks do the same thing. Keeps the sweat out of your socks and maintains their thermal efficiency.

Brought me back to a few weeks. I bought a mortar mixer I got at Lowes and made it into a sled. I went to Mohican and stayed at site 9 where I saw you a couple years ago. I took my hot tent out for the first time and it was an awesome. Coming up that hill on the way out wasn't fun though with all the weight. I need to get out and do some tarp stuff again. Thinking a large tarp setup with my hammock. Once where I can still have a fire pretty close. Ideas are brewing. Thanks for taking us along. I really enjoyed it!

I have gone snowshoeing with gear exactly once in my life (Carson Pass in California), but my buds were kind and guided me through how to build a homemake pulk system. Someone needs to do a video on how to explain to your spouse that you want to go camping in the snow with a tarp.

I really don't think so but It's been over 3 weeks now and it still hurts. Middle finger still can't bend all the way. 😬🤪

@@BryceNewbold by the way you described the pain and inability to move your fingers, you might have. I hope it feels better soon. I hope you can get it looked at because even if you had broken it, I'd expect movement to have returned. (I'm just a student not yet a Dr. btw) *edit* Also loved your video and tips! I do my first winter overnight this weekend, just to test out winter gear. Also ADHD and hiking can be dangerous... I know that all too well ha ha 🤣🤪🥸

Some bushcrafters are aflicted with vocal constipation. They don't utter a word. Others talk moderately, sparingly, but adequately. You, on the other hand, belong to the third category : those suffering from VIRBAL DIORHOEA. Ddon't TALK so much. Act, instead, and most people will understand what you are doing.
