Everything that real people think of as Star Wars is the Original Trilogy or in a stretch the Prequels. Disney Parks Star Wars fail because there is none of this in their parks. When he was 6 the first Halloween costume my son picked out himself was a Luke Skywalker X -Wing pilot. When he was 9 he bugged us to get him the Lego Death Star. He wasn't 40. Now he's sixteen and no longer cares about Star Wars. Congrats KK you made Star Wars irrelevant to teenage boys.

Ouch, I'm 40 now, so I saw the originals before I was ten but didn't get into SW until the Prequals...and looking back on all those old forums about how much Jar-Jar was a joke and how bad the writing was...but they at least knew their demographic, and I held on all the way through Clone Wars, Rebels started to lose me, then when Disney took over, disinterest took hold...

@@42Mrgreenman I don’t think KK is unhappy about boys no longer having this mythos. I don’t think George is either really. There is an entire psychodynamic overlay going on. George is embittered going back to his divorce from Marcia . She edited the OT. She cheated on him. George literally erased Marcia from Star Wars by re-editing her Oscar winning work as The Special Editions. People liked Marcia’s versions better, Han Shot First. Without her he did the Prequels that were inferior to the OT. In the divorce the kids (us) sided with mom (Marcia). So George says F it and sells, turning it over to someone he has to know is an empty suit. More revenge. Then KK comes in and does her thing trying to prove Star Wars don’t need no man. People say the Prequels weren’t so bad (the are compared to the OT theatrical cuts, sorry Georgie ). It’s all one big George / KK tantrum cluster F.

Not making Star Wars for 40 year olds, but for the future. Kids don't have the money to buy Porches, but 40-50 year olds desperate to recapture their youth do. I'm reminded of that speech from Field of Dreams "They'll turn up your driveway, not knowing for sure why they're doing it. They'll arrive at your door as innocent as children, longing for the past. "Of course, we won't mind if you look around," you'll say. "It's only twenty dollars per person." They'll pass over the money without even thinking about it. For it is money they have and peace they lack." There are trips I take this day because it reminds me of times I was with my mom, and trips my mother took us kids because it reminded her of her dad.

All we wanted was a simple resort like the BLT, but with cool Star Wars decor, the occasional character wandering around, and be near the Star Wars park. That's it. It really wasn't a big ask since they owned the franchise and everyone expected it. But NOOOOOO. They shit out the Starcruiser which was this $2k per night forced LARPing experience that NO ONE wanted. Just imagine if it had been done right with a kick ass pool and bar area done up in sci-fi fashion. Galaxy's Edge was such a fail as well. It was a such a snub at practically every fan who was 30+. When shit sucks, it’s almost always because execs inserted themselves into the design decisions, even though they have far worse design instincts than their designers. The concept would have been a hit Pre-Disney Ownership. Many fans would have loved the idea of staying in a hotel that looked like a cruiser from the Star Wars universe. The Architecture inside feeling like the inside of a ship from Return of the Jedi. Seeing people dressed like they came right out of the films serving food and little romba sweepers that looked like droids in the hallways. Especially if you looked out of your room's window and saw what looked like a space port on Dantooine. Have some animatronics pushing cargo shipments on tracks just to make it feel real. But it was probably overpriced and many Star Wars fans have felt alienated from a franchise they loved as children.

The Jenny Nicholson video was a revelation because she experienced it. She wanted it to be amazing but it wasn't. For $5-6K it CANNOT be just OK. It needed to be phenomenal. Trying to play into a storyline and it failing is unacceptable. She mentions other guests having the same problem and the front desk just saying "oh, sorry. What storyline do you want to be placed into?" Bye, bye immersion. That just doesn't cut it. It's amazing they didn't have actual troubleshooting performers ready for these situations considering again, the enormous cost to stay there. Not to mention going with sequel theming rather than better Star Wars. Imagine Universal choosing to not build Hogwarts and Diagon Alley and instead going with the less-popular offshoot of the franchise and building a 1920s New York and visitors chasing fantastic beasts. Would that still be around now?

The failure of the Galactic Starcruiser and Galaxy's Edge is Kathleen Kennedy's doing. Both projects were still in the design phase and were originally intended to incorporate the Star Wars universe created by George Lucas. Kathleen Kennedy called halt to that and directed the desgns be based on the sequel trilogy. You know, the less than stellar Rey movies that fell well short of expectations and tanked the sale of Star Wars merchandise. I suspect that the Disney board ultimately made the call, and I'm betting they took this approach so they wouldn't have to pay very much in royalties to George Lucas, but it came back to bite them in the end.

Bro, it’s Gensler with a G. Good video. It’s kinda hilarious that she went from Disney to Gensler… but Gensler is arguably a bigger positive for her career than even peak Disney. I want to believe that even people like her tried their best under Iger, KK, and the other troves of loyalists. Ann Morrow looked like she was really tryin to believe in her project, but knew it was… crap. I have had her very look… dead inside but trying to put a face on. (Don’t worry about me y’all, that time is FAR in the past) It will be cool to see what she does with Gensler. Maybe some of the original ideas she had will bleed through her new work. She is an architect first (Yale). I highly doubt what we saw is her maximum creative output. Hope she’s doing okay, her name struck me as built for being an Imagineer (thought it was fake at first), during her career transition. Edit: Looking at renders she posted of this project I think is confirmation that her and her teams’ creative potential were massively undercut.

Amazing that Miss Johnson got the sack but KK is still there and is absolutely responsible for not only the Star cruiser failure but also hundreds of millions more losses.
