After PAX and Mt Rainier National Park

This is a reupload! I accidentally forgot to include the audio track before.

Hey folks! I'm recording my thoughts on Week Five at Seattle and Flatiron School's Data Science Bootcamp at the end of week seven.
I liked three photos from week four. The first one was this fallen flower that was on the ground outside Pike Place Market. I was going to title this something nostalgic, like "She Loves Me, She Loves Me Not". I liked how the flower is broken but still seems pretty, which is something that speaks to my emo soul haha. The second I liked was this abstract counter top at Pike Place. The circular shadows were actually made by bubbles trapped underneath a big clear sticker lining the window and I thought they made for a bizarre contrast with the wood grain pattern. And my favorite was this pretty simple postcardy sunset photo. In full resolution, you can clearly make out the Captain Morgan pose the person is making on the boat!
Week five was shortened and even still felt compressed. After the long Labor Day weekend, we had a test for all the week 4 material. I passed! The only parts I struggled with were things that actually got removed from the newest version of the curriculum. Then we were assigned a 24 hour solo project based on the same material. We got a kaggle challenge involving European soccer records and were supposed to query the database to isolate one season, call to an api to extract the weather record for the match dates for the season, return visualizations of summary data (including a rain win percentage), and put all the results into a database.
Instead of relying on Jupyter notebooks to run my code, I actually outlined on paper how I wanted to do the project and modularized what I thought could be modularized. Why? Well, I wanted to build separate classes with their own methods to perform specific tasks, that way I could work on separate sections and link them all together without actually making so much dependence that one flaw could break the entire work.
I ended up making a class to make SQL queries and make a Pandas dataframe in Python, a class to call the api and return weather data, a class to generate visualizations from the final dataframes, and attempted to make a MongoDB class but didn't get that last part working in time. It was a fun challenge where I learned and applied a lot! Then we started doing statistics and probability. I'm still struggling and I'm worried about how I'll do when we get more into the weeds, but I'll still try hard!
For exploration, my family visited so we did a LOT of stuff. Some touristy, like checking out Pike Place, Kerry Park, the Space Needle, and the Starbucks Reserve Roastery, but we also made a day trip to Mt Rainier! Beautiful place but definitely didn't spend enough time there. Non touristy: my brother Brian and I went to PAX West for a day and embraced our inner nerds. We even won free Penny Arcade stuff! Also bought a lot of merch...
How was PAX West? It's way different. Felt much bigger but also more spread out. Also, you have to go outside for some things!
