    Hi! I'm new to After Effects. I've used Avid to edit for 15 years so don't even have Premiere Pro experience. Anyway, I love your channel - it's daunting and exciting at the same time! I wondered about the tiny lights between the slides at the back in the NFL video; what did you use for them and are they parented to the y rotation in the same way as the slides? Thanks so much - you may be getting a lot more stupid questions from me! Regards, Eamonn

    Welcome to the world of After Effects! The light/glow is a lens flare from the plugin Videocopilot Optical Flares. Yes, same technique as the slides, I simply parented the flares to null object.

    Yes, select your layer(s) then go to Layer Menu -> Transform -> Auto Orient -> Orient Towards Camera

    Yes! You'll find out you can parent to different layers and it'll work the same!

    Hi CM, I'm trying to do a carousel with 9 images and they're all different sizes - vertical and horizontal. I want them to appear like this. What are some specifics I need to remember outside this tutorial? For example, do I still create a comp for each image or can I put them straight into the GRFX Carousel?

    Yes. Select a slide, right click with mouse -> Transform -> Auto Orient -> Orient Towards Camera

    Yes. Just swap the images with videos. You'll need to time the animation so you can hit the right clips at the right time.

    Sorry about that! I didn't realize I did not include it in tutorial but had it in the piece I did for NFL. Inside each comp that had the video or photo, I made a copy of the rounded rectangle shape layer, removed the fill and added a white border. I then used overlay or soft light blending mode. You can also try using the Bevel Edges or Bevel Alpha effects in After Effects.

    @@MrApplelover1992 add your image or video, turn on 3D switch for the layer to get the Z coordinates and adjust the Z value till you see it in the center. You can also switch to the top orthographic view to help see it better. That's it!

    You're welcome! Thanks. Yes, backside reflection is not technically correct. To avoid over complicating and just to give the illusion of reflection, I decided just to have the front reflection.

    You can zoom out of the circle using the camera tool. Hit the letter C on keyboard and cycle through until you reach the dolly/Track Z tool.

    How to get rid of the reflection for the backside? You have a grey sideback for each slide, but the reflection of the frontside is still visible. I added a separate reflection for each backside, but even at opacity 100% you can still see the reflection of the frontside.

    You may need to keyframe/animate the opacity of the reflection. More work but it'll achieve what you're looking for.

    Hola! Como se mira cuando renderizas a mp4?? A veces Premiere me da problema tambien con playback. Tambien podes activar motion blur para las imagenes en After Effects - puede ayudar para que se mira mas fluido.

    @@cmdelavega Encontré la solucion y es que en premiere si los "sequence settings" estan en 25fps y en AE estan en 30fps hay incompatibilidad ,puse 25fps en AE y en Premiere y sale fluido.

    Welcome to the world of After Effects! I apologize for skipping the keyframes for carousel - didn't want to make tutorial too long. All you need to do is go to null object ROTATE CTRL, go to its rotation properties (R on the keyboard) and set keyframes for the "Y Rotation".     I used the camera dolly tool (C on the keyboard - keep hitting C to switch to the dolly tool) and I zoomed/dolly out. I'm just changing the perspective of the camera, not scaling the circle/ellipse.

    It's not rotating? Did you add keyframes? Did you parent the comps to the main rotate null?

    Btw, great tutorial man! I've been searching for a slideshow tutorial and you were the best one I could find. It seems a lot of people on KZread don't know what a photo slideshow is. I kept running into tutorials of transitions, it was annoying.
