Im sending my prayers to this family. Too sad. When my children were little, I cut their grapes into little pieces. My kids are now 10 and 11 and I still cut food at times, especially certain steaks. Call me overprotective, but I never want to go through anything this family has suffered.

Yeah, I'm used to seeing parents cut up grapes, too. Even when parents don't think to do it on their own, most pediatricians will tell you to do that as the child is growing teeth

When my daughter was 4 she full on choked on one of those McD cookies they used to give in happy meals. Fortunately I am an LPN and was able to hiemlich and get the cookie out(hamburglar!). Please everyone learn hiemlich for your child.

@@ya00007 It’s obviously a very difficult topic because you will have to draw a line somewhere, but this situation is over that line. In my opinion, it is cruel to artificially prevent a child who is clearly suffering a lot from passing away. If we wouldn’t put a dog through this much suffering, I don’t know why we do it to people, never mind a child. There are things worse than death. Open to hearing other opinions though of course.

My 10 year old grandson gave his two year old brother a grape while sitting in back while I was driving. He had a lunch able. His young brother was kicking and gasping. I stopped the car and opened the door to help. His older brother reached down his throat with one finger and popped it out. Omg I freaked out . I told him not to ever feed his brother in the car . I told my daughter NO grapes or chunks of cheese. Everything has to be cut fine. 😱

I remember when I was in sixth grade my PE teacher demonstrated how to perform CPR ( a plastic dummy was used ). An educational video was also shown. That was the only time in school when I was taught this. I’m glad I didn’t forget because I had to save myself on 2 or 3 occasions. The lessons I got should be replicated more often in schools.

Lots of people assume once a child is past 2 they can eat things like grapes and hot dogs on their own.

I know a child who choked on a hotdog and ended up like this as well. Terrifying.

Tbh, Cutting a grape in to quarters or any other bite size morsel that adults eat is somewhat common sense with children. So sad that this poor child will never have quality life 😢
