To be fair, it’s pretty easy to just get to ashen capital and never go back to the round table unless you, for some reason, don’t already have a maxed out weapon or spirit ashes. The game kinda pushes you directly to the end of the game without hinting that there might be something new to do at roundtable, the only real reason I could see is maybe if you want to use Malikeths remembrance abilities, but most people already have a build centered around the abilities they have and that stuff is mostly NG+ gear.

I was about to say, don't you need to go through that dialogue before maxing a weapon? You can't get the max level stones without progressing to a point where he would say this, right? Could be wrong, but I don't think so

The fact that you can still play after Marika is defeated is a game mechanic choice by the developers. The world changes a lot after practically every ending. After the Age of stars ending for example, your character goes on a 1000y voyage with Ranni. After the Lord of chaos ending, the world is burned to the ground. Even in the mending endings the wold is transformed in some manner. The logic would be that after the end, ng+ would start immediately. The developers just didn't want to do the same thing they did in Dark Souls 1. The world doesn't recognize you defeating Marika because technically you're not in this world, the game is just letting you enter ng+ on your own time.

​@@royalfilho1871 Isn't the world changing after you interacted with the corpse of Marika? I understand it as far, that nobody recognizes you killing Marika or even the elden beast, because nobody has seen it. So from a lore point of view, it does make sense, that nobody knows about that.

​@@royalfilho1871No, nothing changes. It just rewinds back to before you made the ending choice, just like how dark souls 3 rewinds to before you link it or let it die or the other ending. Nothing changes, the actual you already ended their journey.

It's a habit I got into after my first time through DS1, and then starting to look things up. My initial motivation was the to find more Titanite Slabs. Ever time since, I've found myself eyeballs deep in the most obscure and emotional stories, with plenty of Slabs, and a gods damned bleeding heart. 😂

I think Elden ring voice acting doesn’t get talked about enough, some of these dialogues are delivered so good it legit gives me chills

Arguably the last thing I noticed in this amazing game. Elden Ring’s lore and environmental storytelling were the things that blew me away. After playing Baldur’s Gate 3 the voice acting in this game is pretty forgettable.

That's because of what he did after the night of black knives, he sealed what remained of the rune in himself directly to avoid it happening again, but then after the death root started taking effect across the lands between he then started to hunger ... The rune was trying to complete itself again

​@@UlfMTG Marika tasked him to keep the rune of death away from others. when he failed during the night of Godwyn's death, he himself decided to put the rest of the rune in him. which caused his hunger. so it's not really Marika's doing.

This isn't one of those games you'd expect to have moments that may choke you up but man they get me every once in a while.

The extinction of the Fire Giants, the destabilization of Caria and driving Rennala to madness, and the banishment of Godfrey were all caused by her. She shattered the Elden Ring out of vengeance, and brought the lands between to ruin

Marika doesn't like the great tree since it reminds her of the time before the golden order, when she was probably a child or smt. She wants ppl to forget about that time, meaning banish all their creations including her twin sons. 2. The Forge When fire giants made the forge for whatever reason, Marika thought they built it to burn the Erdtree. She obviously doesn't want her reign to end, so she just killed all the fire giants except one to just keep watch due to the forge being indesteuctable. 3. Godfrey After the fire giants went pretty much extinct, the single remaining fire giant turned Marika's hair red. She blamed Godfrey for the change of her hair and banished him. Color red symbolizes beast in the Lands Between, and we all know a dog can't rule. 4. Rennala The Carians were a threat to the Golden Order since they were the 2nd largest territory besides the Golden Order. So they just decided to fight it out. 5. Ancestral Stargazers They were neighbors to fire giants. Since they were so friendly to each other, when the Golden Order attacked the fire giants, they were eradicated along with them. Only one astrologer survived with the help of a zamor. That astrologer was Rennala, and now you know why Caria hates the Golden Order so much. Also that single zamor was locked away in Weeping Penninsula for her treason. 6. Rennala pt 2. Marika cloned herself to get rid of her red hair and get her gold hair back. The clone is Radagon. He was kind of her slave dog and sent him to the war with the Carians. Well, we know how that turned out. She brought back Radagon one day to shatter the Elden Ring which didn't make Rennala happy... at all. At this point, the Golden Order and the Carians came to peace, but Marika really couldn't care less. 7. The Shattering. Rennala's daughter, Ranni, stole the rune of death and killed herself along with Godwyn. Instead of hunting the Carians, Marika blamed the Greater Will for not defending his son, and shattered the Elden Ring which symbolized order. The greater will obviously didn't like that, so crucification.

@@NamelessUndead91all the endings pretty much are alternate story routes with pretty long questlines that you’ve gotta follow to the end. I don’t see how burning down the Erdtree is avoidable at all unless you wanna scrap every bit of the game, story, and lore then restart from scratch.

Hewg was a creature of faith. His chains to me were more than just metal but of his soul. He had been tyranized by the Golden Order and by Marika. So for you to be able to slay Marika and for him to be able to create a weapon for you "that can slay a god", is his path to freedom. Because from the very beginning, Hewg characterized himself as a servant, and he's finally found a lord he believes in. To me, this is his freedom.

He is to proud to tell you good words and maybe don’t even want to believe that you are able to change the world for good but he secretly wished that to happen. And after countless of battles and story’s of literal gods slain by THAT ONE tarnished, at the point of time where he knows it could be the last time to ever see you again, he decides to tell his true feelings to you. He really seems like a good guy and full of emotions and feelings but he keeps it for himself most of the time. Much different from THE BLADE OF MIQUELLA But just like in real world, being silent or seeming bored or heartless even at the insight might not be the case for real. This person could be nicer than the extrovert guy who told you a lot of compliments and than throws you away after he looses interest or your connection means no benefit for him anymore.

Makes the final encounter against radagon so much more epic when the theme hits before the boss fight

I feel such great respect and admiration for Hewg. He is kind of heart even if at first glance he appears cold or mean. If his mental state had never deteriorated and we could play as the new true Elden Lord i would make him my right hand. He is loyal and has great qualities 10/10 character.

Rederika is elden rings #1 sweetheart. Doesn't manipulate you like Melina or Ranni, just... Helps.

I don’t think Melina or Ranni manipulate you, I mean Melina a tiny bit, I guess but then she’s up front about not really initially believing that you’d be the right choice to become lord. They’re both pretty blatant about what they’re doing and what your role is in it. Melina literally dies for you in any ending besides the frenzied flame ending. Ranni pretty much tells you right from the start that she’s done some pretty awful things in an attempt to create a better age, unless you’re counting when you meet her under an assumed name, but that’s when she was really just intending to give you the bell and never see you again, so makes sense she wouldn’t reveal herself as the missing demigod that people have been after for centuries.

@@TheMrLookgood That is a prerequisite. You have to do it at a certain point in the story. And apparently you have to talk with Roderika first? And I assumed Roderika's dialogue was already finished at that point so I didn't speak with her.

I genuinely felt my heart hurt when I first heard this line, this is one of those moments in the game that hits you right in the feels

This moment choked me up. Roderika and Hewg were two of the most innocent of all the NPCs in the game. Knowing they were going to die in that burning round table hold was almost too much to bear. Hearing them call me Elden Lord broke my heart.

I remember this part. It definitely made a few things make sense and touched the gamer feelies

I noticed it in the first playthrought, in the first time they said that... And it made me cry. Just made me get emotional for all the things behind them and a tear droped from my eyes.

This may be the best game I have played in my life... The lore is so powerful and deep.

Hewg’s final lines hit me like a truck and then backed up over me when he succumbed to dementia as the Roundtable burns

Heard this my first playthrough for the platinum trophy and was like "well Marika was already a dead person walking. But now she's extra dead"

This is the only moment in the game i actually shed a tear

So after 1500 hours you finally listened to dialogue options. Wow.

Then I picked the age of despair ending. lol

I loved when he was praying and said his prayers were his and his alone, but he was probably praying for us all.

I love the way this fits in with your rapport with other people at Roundtable, especially Nepheli--you can feel the gradual power struggle between you and Gideon as you compete for the loyalty of the Roundtable, and eventually win out.

voice actor was 3 months behind on rent recording those lines

I'm always amazed with the amout of true voice acting in anything Miyazaki directed, immersion is so important to him

For some reason it’s a common trend in for software games to have the blacksmiths tragic yet lovable

I got it on first play through.

This only makes the final battle more impactful. All of the sins of Marika, vs all of the sins of Radagon, the Golden Order, and the Greater Will- you will either simply continue the cycle, or tear it all down. With the music, it is not Radagon’s theme… at least not his alone… *_it’s yours._*

Everyone you know eventually leaves you one way or another. Hewg, Boc, Blaidd, Alexander, Boggart.

When i first heard these lones of dialogue i actually got goosebumps lol, i really appreciate both of these characters since they were with us since the start.

Heard this on my first play through and it definitely gave me the determination I needed. Hewg is honestly our closest ally. “To smith a weapon to slay the gods”. It was his goal the whole time and we were there to fulfill it.
